He's right here! At Chicago's Field Museum in December of 2000 during the "Star Wars: Myth & Magic" exhibit me and some fiends went to. That's the actual suit actor, Jeremy Bullock, wore in Episodes 5 and 6! A moment of silence please.......................OK. (Just behind it you can see the Bounty Hunter suit Lea wore in "Jedi" and behind that is the actual Han Solo in carbonite prop. Another moment of silence please....................OK).
To most of us male, sci-fi geeks, this outfit is the HOLY GRAIL of motion picture costumes ever to grace the silver screen! Can you imagine Jeri Ryan in this get up? Yet another moment of silence please...............................OK. Someone get me a cigarette.
Here he is… Lord Darth Vader. Once an annoying, bratty little pod racer, then an annoying bratty Jedi padawan. Now he’s “more machine than man” and standing ever vigilant of the Dark Side of The Force. To tell you the truth, standing right in front of the suit and looking up to it… it is a bit imposing. Or maybe I’m just a woose. Don’t answer that! It was rhetorical!
Here’s ol’ “Prune Face” himself, Emperor Palpatine He started out as a seemingly nice senator from Naboo, but was in fact the Sith Lord Darth Sideous who brought The Republic to its knees. But did he ever try and censor so called violent videogames, put “warning labels” on Rock ‘N’ Roll albums or have a special “relationship” with an intern? I think NOT!! So, he couldn’t have been all that bad.
I had the incredible honor of meeting actor, Peter Mayhew in the Spring of 2002 at a small, local Sci-Fi convention. For those of you who’ve had your heads buried in the ground for the last two decades, Mr. Mayhew is the actor who portrayed everyone’s favorite Wookie, Chewbacca, from Star Wars Episodes IV through VI. For those of you who have not had the pleasure to ever meet Mr. Mayhew, he’s a kind, warm and funny individual who has a special place in his heart for Star Wars fans.
Speaking of Star Wars fans, here’s a bunch of us corrupting poor Peter. As you can see he’s a pawn of our influences already…or is it the other way around?
