Along with many students of karate around Australia and from other countries, Fairfield students attended a very successful Zanshin Shotokan Seminar during November 2001 held at Warwick Farm over a five day period.

Saturday 17th November commenced with the Frank Nowak Memorial Open Tournament at the Whitlam Centre Liverpool. Followed by what can only be discribed as one of the most successful Memorial Dinners ever held. In excess of 100 people packed into the Frank Oliveri room at the Whitlam Centre where everyone had a most enjoyable evening.
Sensei Kora & Sensei Ron announced the promotion to the higher ranks of a number of successful gradees. [wow, is that a word?]

We even had a visit from Elvis who entertained the big crowd. It was all too much for some who just had to get onto the dance floor, but alas, it ended way too soon and Elvis left the building. A full report on the week is available HERE

Fairfield Dojo re commenced training again after an absence of about six years.

In 1992 Sensei Paul Fenech took on the position of instructor following in the big shoes of Sensei Arie Farkash.

In 1994 we moved to Fairfield Heights where we had a very successful dojo with 35 students, a number of these students were members of Sensei Paul's tournament squad, they attended many tournaments and were quite successful.

In 1998 the squash centre where we opperated the dojo was sold to a licenced club which meant we had to move again this time the dojo was not re-opened until the current dojo.

Fairfield dojo has started slowly with only a few students, though we have plans to increase the numbers in 2002.

We currently have 18 names on our list of students however, it seems to be difficult to get them all at training at the same time.

Early new year Sensei Paul would like to have two sessions per week, hopefully this will allow all our students to be covered at a time to suit them.
We had just one grading during 2001. Being a new venture at Fairfield students for grading had to prove to Sensei Paul they were ready.
