TOP 100 ZELDA SITES!
Zelda II: The Aventure of Link is a VERY hard game. It will take a lot of patience, so be warned.

It's always good to level up as much as possible. In the top right hand corner it will show you how many experience points you need to level up. You get points by defeating enemies. It can take a long time to level up, but if you don't the chances are you are going to die many many times. If you level upnear a village you can keep goin back and restoring your health and magic. It is heartbreaking to die just before you are about to go up a level.

Don't be afraid to use spells often. Using shield will lessen the damage you take, and life will restore your health. Magic bottles are quite frequently dropped by baddies.

Caves will be shrouded in Darkness until you get the Candle.

If you are playing an emulated version you can cheat a bit and save your position whereas in the original you can't do this and will always start at the North Palace after you lose all your lives.

If you want to travel somewhere with minimum baddie attacks then stay on the yellow road.

Look for squares of forest on their own in grassland or other suspicious looking things on the map. You may find fairies, or EXP points.

I am not familiar with all the proper names for monsters, and some locations. So I have given them their own names, which are descriptive of the monster's appearance, or the location's area.

If you go to a village and are low on both magic and life force, you can save time by using the life spell while your magic gauge is filling up. Killing two birds with one stone :)

In dungeons, you can hit the heads of knight statues for a red bottle, which will refill your magic meter.
