Amazing Spider-Man #39 (Writer - J. Michael Straczynski, Pencils - John Romita Jr.) - For those of you who have missed this incredible run by Straczynski which started back at #30, you've missed one of the biggest reasons Marvel is dominating the industry.  JMS has brought us back to the Peter Parker we know and care about.  His take on Peter's relationship with Aunt May is fresh as it has ever been and in this issue, as we see the versital writing of JMS yet again as this is a 'Nuff Said issue in which no dialogue is used.  What excited me most was the appearance of MJ, and I'm hoping JMS is bringing her back for something big, extremely big.  And Aunt May is interesting!  How did that happen?  Straczynski has a real way with character development.  I hope he continues his run for years to come.  Rating: 9
Ultimate Spider-Man #20 (Writer - Brian Michael Bendis, Pencils - Mark Bagley) - The Ulimate line continues to impress as it is more than a retelling of our favorite characters, but also a fresh look at the Marvel Universe with crisp story telling and cutting edge graphics.  USM is no exception.  BMB has a more hip, deeper Peter Parker attempting to deal with tragedy, new found powers and love, and the politics of being a teenager.  In this issue, Justin Hammer is assulted by Dr. Octavius and you know who shows up to save the day.  Just as things seem to be under control, Kraven the Hunter and his television crew show up.  Very simply, don't miss an issue of this fast paced and exciting book.  Rating: 10

Deadpool #4, Regular Series (Writer - Joe Kelly, Pencils - Ed McGuinness) -  First of all the exchange between Deadpool and an angry Hulk is hilarious.  Tons of fun to read just those pages.  McGuinness isn't as polished as with his current work on Supes, but it still rules and goes great with the tempo Kelly sets.  Also in the issue, good ol'Wade (that's Deadpool to the layperson) is trying to find Black Tom and finds out the only way to fix his distorted mug from Dr. Kilbrew.  The same Dr. Kilbrew that made DP the man his is today from the Weapon X program.  Tons of fun.  Try it out! Rating: 8.5

Comic Reviews: Ultimate Spider-Man #35 & Green Arrow #20
Ultimate Spider-Man #35 (Writer - Brian Michael Bendis, Pencils - Mark Bagley) - Anyone who's been here before knows how I feel about the Ultimate line.  I'm not original at all in this line of thinking: It ROCKS!!!  Bendis is a master at pacing a story line, particularly one as important as the new look Venom story.  The incomplete Venom project run by the fathers of Peter Parker and Eddie Brock has been brought to life by the forementioned sons.  The trickle down of events towards the end of this issue are sure to have lasting effects on everyone.  Watch Bendis craft humor and thrills in this little gem.  Synopsis:  Spidey saves popstar, takes a bullet, remembers Uncle Ben, and takes a little nap.  Don't waste another minute trying to figure out what I'm talking about.  Rating: 9
Green Arrow #20 (Writer - Brad Meltzer, Pencils - Phil Hester) - Many readers probably left Green Arrow after Kevin Smith took a bow about six months ago.  Those still with this book have to be having fun.  Oliver (GA) and son run into the very retired Catman attempting to continue his worthless existance.  Strange enough, Gorilla Grood makes a cameo.  In this five part of Archer's Quest, the weird stays weird and the story keeps readers guessing as to what finale will come in #21.  Lots of conversation and memories of Hal us briskly to the end and Ollie seems to have completed his collection of unique items from the old JLA.  If you have no idea what GA picks up in this issue, your missing out!
