Author : Richard Andersen It's simple and and have a lot of helpful tips. I think this is good and simple. It said at the back of the book : Everyone who has to write memos, reports, proposals or other business-related documents will quickly discover what a valuable and frequently used addition this Business Desk Reference is to business libraries. Powerful Writing Skills offers tried-and-true guidelines for getting it right whenever you write. It includes quick answers to common questions about grammar, usage and style, and will help you improve the quality of everything you write. Personally, I don't think this book is solely for business purposes. I think it's good to read for people who wants to improve their writing skills. This book is not too long and the English is not too difficult. The book has been made into an excellent movie which is available on video. The House on Mango Street Author: Sandra Cisneros Sandra Cisneros writes like people talk. This short novel is like a series of little poems. Bless me, Ultima Author: Rudolfo Anaya This story is set in New Mexico and is told from a young boy's point of view. Anaya was one of the first Latino writers in the US to break through into mainstream success and recognition. _______________________________________________________ A true story: Wild Swans: Three daughters of China Author: Jung Chang This is the true story of Jung Chang, her mother and her grandmother. The story of their lives reveals a lot about the story of China. Jung Chan learned English as a second language. A student in the Reading and Writing Improvement course recommended this one to me. ________________________________________________________ Another writer who learned English as a second language: Anchee Min is a well-known writer who learned English as a second language, also. I have not read these books but I have heard that they are very good: Red Azalea, Becoming Madame Mao and The Lost Daughters of China: Abandoned Girls, Their Journey to American, and The Search for a Missing Piece. |
