Lesson One  - Parts 3, 4, 5 & 6

(Note:  many people find it very confusing or irritating to follow directions but directions are a big part of this class, a big part of U.S. culture and maybe a big part of Life.  (What do you think?  I would love to hear about this from you!)  It is important that you really concentrate and understand the directions for this and all lessons.  If you have trouble doing that on a computer and many people do, then print them out.  Sometimes it is easier for people to keep track of things that way.  Yes, I know.  All this seems simple!  But you would be surpised at the number of students who have trouble following the directions for lesson one.  If students are new to doing things online or on a computer, things get even more complicated and confusing.  If you're one of those folks - hang in there!  Don't quit!  Send me an email (
zimzamjamz@yahoo.com) and ask for help!  Everyone needs help sometimes and successful people know how to ask for help when they need it.)

Part 3 - Writing Check Up

I call this part "Writing Check Up" because we can use it to check your writing health.

Answer this question:
What did you do yesterday?  Write for as long as you can without stopping. Send me your answer in an email.

Part 4 Grammar Check up

Go to
www.eslcafe.com/quiz and choose four quizzes from the grammar section.  Take the quizzes.  Tell me which quizzes you did and how you did on them.  (If you want to do more quizzes, feel free!)

Part Five - Orientation

Learn more about this class and the class website by taking the
Orientation Scavenger Hunt.
Send me the answers to the scavenger hunt questions in an email.

Part Six - The Write Share Project

Hopefully by now you have received an invitation from me to join the Write Share Project.  The invitation will arrive in your email box and it will say it is from Yahoo Groups.  Follow the instructions to join.  After you have joined, send an email to
writeshareproject@yahoogroups.com introducing yourself to the class.  When you do this, your classmates will receive your email.  You will receive emails from them also.  You will also receive emails from me via the WSP and this is why it is required that you join!  If you are confused or have questions about any of this, click on Write Share Project on the main page to read more.

I will know you have joined and successfully completed lesson one, when I receive your introduction via the WSP.
