An Excerpt from an Old Notebook : Owls of Singapore, Past and Present (1997)
I used to be very fascinated by owls and made numerous drawings and sketches of these handsome birds in the notebooks, lecture notes and every paper i can get hold of. Some of this, i added some colour to them and gathered them under one single notebook.

Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus)
2.
Oriental Scops-owl (Otus sunia)
3.
Bay Owl (Phodilus badius)
4.
Barn Owl (Tyto alba)
5.
Collared (Sunda) Scops-owl (Otus lempiji)
6.
Barred Eagle Owl (Bubo sumatranus)
7.
Buffy Fish-Owl (Ketupa ketupu)
8.
Brown Hawk-Owl (Ninox scutulata)
9.
Spotted Wood-Owl (sometimes called 'Pagoda Owl') (Strix seloputo)
Birds of the Oriental Region (selcted plates) 1996-1998
I was quite inspired after reading through a few field guides and wanted to try if it is possible to make one that covers all the birds of the oriental region (some 2600 species). Apparently, it was really time consuming and i abandoned it after drawing 700 species. What remains are a packed collages of plates cramped with 20-30 species each. Many of the birds are rather fat and of proportion, i must say, as well as having oversized heads. The plates here covers: Broadbills, orioles, nuthatches, flowerpeckers, magpies, parrots, starlings, sunbirds and ewoodpeckers. Medium - colour pencils.
