"Everlasting" Xi Iota Chapter was founded during the fall semester of 1979 on the campus of Montclair State University. Fifteen industrious young women embarked on, what is today, 25 years of service to the campus community and communities in Northern New Jersey.

Until 2002, Xi Iota's charter extended to young women on the campus of William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. William Paterson now has its own chapter. Xi Iota chapter sponsored by Gamma Omicron Zeta, the  Newark, New Jersey graduate chapter.

Xi Iota was awarded "Silver Dove Award" for its chapter report presented at  the 1996 Boule, in Dallas, Texas.
