These are a bunch of pictures of a park I found yesterday. It's this enclosed garden off from the museum aways and unaffiliated with it. I don't really know who funds it, actually, as the park is totally free and unmanned, yet the gardens and buildings are extremely well maintained. It's kind of like the Secret Garden at ASU only much bigger, full of really attractive Japanese-style buildings, and lacking any fruity telepathy signs.
I bought two great cookbooks yesterday, one called "Men's Cooking: A Cram School for the Basics" and another that is all sweets and candies, mostly traditional Japanese ones. Men's Cooking is just awesome, as masculine Japanese food apparently involves massive amounts of meat and deep-frying. I couldn't be happier. I made my first meal out of it today for dinner, this delicious little meat-filled fried thing called korokke. It's basically just a patty made of mashed potato, ground beef, onions and whatever spices you want, then breaded and fried. Frying things is just ridiculously fun - I've seen it done a few times but never done it myself until tonight. The result is surprisingly tasty, especially considering how much fun it is to make. Now that I have bread crumbs I intend to deep fry with wild abandon, as boiling things in oil helps make up for how healthy Japanese cooking is. I am a tiny little iconoclast against the god of health! I am so naughty!
Today my Michelle Shocked CDs came, despite its being Sunday and therefore a no-post day. Deep Natural, her newest, is pretty enjoyable. I've only listened to it once so it's a little premature to judge it yet, as I expect it to grow on me a fair amount. The second disc of it is just semi-instrumental versions of the songs on the first disc and therefore not much worth listening to, but the first disc is over 70 minutes long, so no big loss.
I had to spend thirty minutes doing homework today, so I'm all kinds of exhausted. I can't believe how hard they work me here - spending probably two full hours on homework each week, that's each week, mind you, not each month, and they actually expect me to go to school 15ish times a month. They are inhuman.
