says. Zuri's natural talent might have gotten her career started, but her experience is one of the most important attributes. Zuri began taking singing lessons from Ms.Holden, a very well-known and respected r&b/blues vocalist, known as her city's "First Lady of Jazz." Vocalists that she cites as having greatly inspired her, musically, include Whitney Houston and Patti LaBelle. She says that three of her musical role models include, "Janet Jackson, Beyonce, and Usher- they're stage presence and performance are amazing. I admire Alicia Keys' songwriting abilities, and Kanye West is genius when it comes to producing- which is something I definitely want to get further into in the future."
When asked to describe her personality, Zuri replied: "I am definitely outgoing and I love to meet new people. I love taking fashion to the edge- much like my music- pushing limits, mixing and matching, until I get the perfect product. Music is my heart- singing comes just as naturally as talking for me. Performing is what I am determined to do with my life." When it comes to the music industry, Zuri is without a doubt focused, marketable, unique and most importantly determined. |
