THE VAUTOUR IN THE IAF SERVICE - SECTION 13

INVENTORIES 1957 - 1972

1) The inventories of the Vautour, were calculated on the basis of arrivals in reduction of losses or severe damages.

2) The table gives just a rough idea about the strength during the 14 years of service.

3) The inventories, to end of periods, are in gross figuers, including aircraft in repair or in conversion.

    Remarks:
  • 1962: BR 31 damaged, assumed it re-entered service 1963.
  • 1963:
    * N 66 refurbished and modified, 1964-1966;
    * A 03 was for a short time in France (not counted).
    * N 69 was sent to missile trials in France till January 1964.
  • 1964:
    * A 20 actually lost, later (1968-1970) overhaulled and returned to service.
    * N 69 was returned to France May 1964.
  • * No. 70, which arrived 1964, entered service end of 1966.
  • June 5, 1967:
    * N 61 was in repairs mid. 1967 to February 1968.
  • 1968:
    * N 61 repaired & re-entered service.
    * A-30, which arrived end of 1967, entered service.
  • 1969:
    A No. 29, which arrived 1968, entered service.
  • 1970:
    * A No. 20 re-entered service in August.
    * An unknown number were stored at the end of the "War of Attrition", when the the squadron began its conversion to Skyhawks, August 1970.
    * From ~ August, the remaining Vautours operated, as a separate detachment.
  • End of 1971:
    Probably most of the Vautours were transferred to storage.
    The "special" Vautours, NE-70 and BR-33, possibly more?, remained active till March 1972.
  • March 1972: The Vautours in flying condition were transferred to Sinai (Refidim & El-Arish), to become "realistic" decoys.
  • 6 Vautours, the last active (two) and four of the ex. decoys, were preserved.
