In Loving Memory

Gerri "Sissy" Brechtel

January 26, 1982 - July 20, 1998

On July 20,1998, God chose to take my baby from me. I can't pretend to understand why but I try to believe that he has a plan for her. I know in my heart that she is in a better place and that she is at peace but that doesn't help the pain nor fill any part of the hole that it has left in my heart.

Gerri was my baby and my only daughter and my best friend. She was such a loving, caring person. All she wanted in life was to be happy. She struggled with borderline personality disorder for years and had finally decided that she was going to fight it and win and make something of her life despite her disorder. She was doing great when the car accident happened. The accident was on the 19th of July... they pronounced her dead on the scene and then changed it and claimed they had revived her. I can't make myself believe that. I believe they got her heart pumping but they did not save my daughter, see she wanted to be an organ donor and I believe that is why they were able to get the organs going.

She was pronounced the following morning and 3 men are now doing great and have a chance at a long happy life.

And my baby is "Forever Sweet 16"

If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane,
I would walk right up to heaven to bring you home again,
No farewell words were spoken No time to say good bye,
You were gone before I knew it and only God knows why,
My heart still aches in sadness and my secret tears still flow,
What it meant to lose you NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW!
