Comment: Eritrea has directly contradicted its own press releases. Shortly after news of the OAU’s written request for Eritrea to withdraw was made public, Eritrea launched a massive offensive to recapture Badime (the third try in 4 months). Meanwhile it was publicly crying that Ethiopia was attacking.
By all accounts, the offensive has failed to recapture Badime. Although Eritrea claims to have recaptured a tiny strip of territory, it has cost the lives of thousands of Eritreans. More casualties of their dictator’s ego. We will probably see more of these senseless attacks in the future as Eritrea continues on the dead end path to destruction.
Admiration and congratulations are due to the brave Ethiopian defenders who crushed the Eritrean offensive. The Ethiopian Defense Forces deserve our complete and total support.
