                 Eritrean Trenches

 For nine months the enemy had dug and heavily fortified over 100 kilometers of trenches on the border using bulldozers and surrounded them with anti-personnel and anti-vehicle landmines.

Despite a large enemy presence ( Eritrea deployed over 40,000 military personnel), the Ethiopian defense forces were able to win a total victory, destroying the enemy army and sending them into total dissarray. Tens of thousands of Eritrean solidiers were captured, killed and wounded.

The prisoners of war include this boy and girl, who are only 16 years of age. The military of Issaias Afewerki recruits children into its army.
