WHEREAS, Brandy Nicole Murphy was a great student, friend, and person while
attending the University of Alabama.

WHEREAS, Brandy Nicole Murphy devoted much of her time to the development and
advancement of her sorority, Delta Xi Phi Sorority, Incorporated.

WHEREAS, According to her sorority sisters, she was a person who not only touched
their hearts, but also their lives. She was the epitome of a Delta Xi Phi sister: beautiful,
always loyal, honest, joyful, and loving.


WHEREAS, Brandy Nicole Murphy was a junior majoring in Athletic training with a
focus on kinesiology.


WHEREAS, Brandy’s contribution to the University, her sorority, and her friends and
family will never be forgotten.

WHEREAS, the sudden and untimely death of Brandy Nicole Murphy on Sunday,
November 12, 2006 has deeply saddened those that knew her and the University of
Alabama community.


WHEREAS, a candle light vigil is being planned in honor of the life of Brandy Nicole
Murphy.


THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, The University of Alabama SGA Senate
sends its sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and sorority sisters of Brandy
Nicole Murphy.


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, Copies of this resolution be sent to the family
of Brandy Nicole Murphy; Delta Xi Phi Sorority, Incorporated; Dr. Robert Witt,
President of the University of Alabama; Justice Smyth, SGA President; Dr. Tom Strong,

Brandy Niocle "Nikki" Murphy - published in the Florence, AL Times-Daily 11/16/2006

Brandy Nicole "Nikki" Murphy, departed from this life Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006. Nikki died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Atlanta, Ga.

Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, from 6-9 p.m. at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence. Her funeral service will be Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, with Brother Malcolm Scott and minister Jeremy Casey officiating. Interment will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence.

This precious bundle of joy came into the world Nov. 18, 1984. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior as a teen. Nikki will always be remembered for her compassion, strength, courageousness, loyalty, leadership and humor. She was a beautiful person, inside and out.

A 2004 graduate of Bradshaw High School, her love of sports began at an early age, which carried over into her high school years. Nikki was a student at the University of Alabama and a loyal member of the Delta Xi Phi Sorority, who deeply loved her sorority sisters. By applying and being accepted into the Athletics Training Program, she was able to continue being a part of sports, which was a passion of her life. Nikki loved the career she had chosen, and it showed by the care given to the athletes. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and shopping.

Nikki's life touched the lives of so many, even though her time here was brief. Her beautiful smile and love she gave so freely will be missed by all who knew her.

Nikki leaves to cherish her memories, her mother and best friend, Edwina Murphy Williams; stepdad, Fletcher Williams; father, Gary Armstead; brother, Desmond Murphy; sisters, Ashley Armstead and Shameka Armstead; maternal grandparents, Larry and Sandra Murphy; great-grandmother, Helen Murphy; aunts and uncles, Dwayne Murphy (Brayde), Annie Williams, Stein Williams, Charles Williams, Bo Williams, Ella Hillman, Bessie Armstead, Margaret Thompson, Donnie Armstead and Fred Armstead; many great-aunts and uncles; a host of cousins; and three special cousins, Nicholas, Will and Nathan Murphy; special friends, Lydia Oshunkenpan, Oreal Taylor, Leslie Smith; and a very special boyfriend, Jermareo Davidson; and the love of her life, her pet dog, Lucky.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Pearline Armstead; maternal great-grandparents, James "Nub" and Flora Staggs, Buddy Murphy; and a very special cousin, Chris Murphy; and several aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hanson, Jody Hanson, Brian Broadfoot, Bradley Broadfoot, Randle Faulkner, Ricky White, Aldger Armstead and Brad Armstead.

Honorary pallbearers will be Delta Xi Phi Sorority sisters and the University of Alabama men and women athletes.

The family is most grateful to all of you for your calls, visits, prayers and acts of kindness you have shown during our time of bereavement. A special thanks to the Davidson family and staff of Grady Memorial Hospital for trying desperately to save the life of our darling Nikki.
