Lilne is known as the Dark God. He is a warrior, but does not love war. He is the god of the dark cold wind that cuts through every layer of garment. Yet he is a god aligned with good. He hates war because of the wanton waste of life. The chill wind of Lilne never comes to steal life, but serves as a reminder to those with many layers of clothes (the rich) that the poor die of cold. Lilne is a god who loves good not for the sake of good but because he hates evil.

In the Oknar (the music that began the world) it is said that Lilne and Leh had several duets which were studies in opposing but intertwined themes. This connection between Lilne and Leh is one of the only things known about Leh in the Eastern world.

Lilne clerics always wear black when in worship and in daily life. Lilne's sect presides over the burial of people who were good in life. Many a famous Requiem has been commissioned by clerics of Lilne from the Bard God's minions Yet the most famous image of a priest of Lilne is a black-robed warrior striking out at hordes of undead.

Lilne clerics come from any race and from all classes. There are lords and nobles whom have converted to the cloth and there are peasants who have done the same. It seems that certain people are simply chosen to become clerics of Lilne. One day in their life they are touched by "The Kiss of Wind," and ever after they are devotees.

Some clerics of Lilne never achieve the art of spellcraft, and these are the priests who inhabit and tend to the sparse temples. However, unlike other religions, non-spell priests are considered higher in the church hierarchy than 'the driven ones.' This dichotomy leads to a rift in the church: The powerful priests in terms of spell ability have less say than those who have no spell power at all. Remember Lilne's neutral-ness in terms of Law and Chaos - this arrangement is a result of that neutrality, for the powerful spellcasters are peripherals in the church and hence the people who have power in the church (the guardian of the laws) have little or no power over the other priests of the deity. Law has little power, yet it is not a totally chaotic institution.

Temples are open air and placed on lonely promontories exposed to the wind. These chapels are often located on solitary promontories and hence protecting them from bands of scavengers can be a problem. Much of the gold given to the church goes for hiring full time protection from local fighters guilds.

Priests of Lilne must take the vow of poverty. This means that priests must give to the Temple all income except for enough to live decently on. At seventh level the priest can build a fortress/temple in the area of his choice. To do so, the priest may begin saving at two levels previous to cover initial building costs.

Lilne has many non-priest followers from all races. Known as the god of all hired and drafted military men, there are many followers of Lilne among the peasant population, and they treat priests of Lilne with reverence. His temples are full on major holidays. Peasants also worship Lilne because he requires no monetary sacrifice from his worshippers. There are rich and powerful people who worship this God of Wind, but generally when people become rich they like to show off how pious they are by giving lots of money to the church. Lilne's sect puts a damper on that display of holiness by not accepting money from non-priests.

Lilne rituals on major and minor holidays differ vastly. On some occasions attendance at a temple is required if possible, while on others the Temple is not to be entered. Some holidays require preparation and many artifacts, while others are meant to be spontaneous and heartfelt. As with any religion, holidays mark important events or concepts Lilne is a champion of. On minor holidays attendance at temple is not required but is appreciated and should be done whenever possible. All priests must give a one hour service on minor holidays if not attending temple. If he or she is traveling with people he or she must make it known that the service is being conducted and make his fellow travelers welcome to attend. No paraphernalia is required for these services other than the holy symbol of Lilne, which is a silver or gold likeness of a sickle. Priests of Lilne, though they can use swords, never use a sickle for any purpose at all.
