Welcome to the Brooks Family Club's Family Queries and Ancestor Search section, where you can post a message in search of a Brooks ancestor or even a "lost" living relative. If you have reached a dead end on your ancestry, let us help: you can post a query here that might help you find that missing link. You may luck up and locate a cousin who has already discovered the very information you are searching for. We hope this site can become a "national clearing house" for all of you who are seeking info about your ancestors in the Brooks family--with emphasis upon those families with roots in the South.

By working together, we can help eliminate wasted time and effort searching for those elusive ancestors. You may find someone with a long-lost family Bible with all the info you have been looking for; or someone who knows of a record that will fill in a missing link for you.

READ CAREFULLY

TIP for preparing a query: give as much information as you can . . .

about your ancestor. The more information you include with your query, the better the chance of someone else being able to "link up". If you don't know dates, then estimate a time period ("1760's"; or abt "1810", etc.). If you know these facts, be sure and include:

One-line queries usually don't get much response simply because there isn't enough information for anyone to make a connection so try to provide as much data as you can. Please limit your query to about one-half of a regular typed page.

Remember -- someone else might not know about your ancestor but they may know about a brother or sister and thus be able to help you make a connection.

READ several of the queries already posted and write yours like those. Then, when you have it written, send it as an email to by clicking on the highlighted address below.

Members of the Brooks Family Club may post queries free for an indefinite period. Others may post a message for brief periods (about a month).

BROOKS FAMILY IN OKLAHOMA
1920's

Looking for any info on the following Brooks family from Oklahoma: 4 or 5 Brooks siblings were separated and adopted by different families (all Methodist ministers in the state, I believe) after the death of their parents sometime in the 1920's, we think. My grandfather JAMES we believe was the oldest child, and was born abt 1917 in Mangum OK. He was adopted by a Barton family. Another child WILLIAM or Bill, was adopted by a Rogers family. The names of some of the other siblings might be LEE, NORA and DORATHEA. The Brooks family lived in the Mangum area of Oklahoma. This is all we know about our family and would appreciate any info.
