Confederate States Army

This part of our History section is devoted to all the Southern Morgan men and boys who fought to defend their Nation as soldiers and sailors in the Confederate States Army and Navy during the War for Southern Independence (War Between the States), 1861-1865.

We will try to list every Morgan who served in the military forces of the South. If you had a Morgan ancestor who served in the military, please send us copies of information or records you may have on your ancestor to preserve in our Family Library. Due to space limits and the number of kinfolk in the war, we cannot list all of them at the same time. We shall try to change the list about once a month.

Most of the military forces of the South were organized into regiments and battalions. Artillery units were formed into batteries. All of the units below are infantry unless otherwise designated, such as Cav. for cavalry and Arty. for artillery.
