Bette and Allen?

Mad About You writers are not the only ones that remember Burns & Allen for their fantastic comedy.

In a scene of For the Boys, starring Bette Midler, the couple is mentioned TWICE! Bette and her costar, James Cain, are beginning a comedy act in the 40s and starting to do shows on the war-front as Bob Hope is famous for. The producer tries to convince the two to stay a team after they had a fight and uses the same line that Cain uses later to convince Bette to stay with the developing act.

The line is as follows:
We're gonna be bigger than Burns & Allen, bigger than Hope and Crosby.

The movie couple of Bette and Cain go on to form a comedy act much the calaber of the old radio comedy called The Bickersons.

But how could they be bigger than the LEGENDS?
