High Under The Light
20 OCT 1992
The view is spectacular--
Beautiful.
Though there are much higher places
Such as inside quiet circular hallways,
surrounded by the glowing hairs of our continent at sunset;
Atop breathing snow-capped mountains,
their form displaying but a small part of their magnificence;
Soaring through the contrasting, cottony clouds
with wings of energy and grace;
And of course, high above in the fourth dimension
wherefore the jewels of the galaxy may be glimpsed without any ties.
All places that have been seen
and have filled their privileged audiences with awe.
Extraordinary indeed, but...
There comes a time when
a fraction of us find there's more--
we just have to look for it,
by setting our journeys aside for a moment
and taking notice of what is around us--
There, but unseen.
For there will never be a sight so
open and supreme, glorious, astounding--
Humbling
as what I have found today.
I only wish I could stay up here longer,
but there is nothing that can be as disappointing as reality
For I know I must go,
Taking with me only a memory
to be kept for eternity, lest I never return
And a wish,
that if I never make it back,
either another shall come behind me,
or a dream may come true,
and she who is on the other side may come to me.
