Kes is a two year old female Ocampa aboard the U.S.S. Voyager. She appears to be about twenty years old because her species has a life span of only nine years. She is in love with Neelix, a Talaxian who is Voyager's guide in the Delta Quadrant.
Kes is studying medicine with the holographic Doctor on Voyager and also learning how to develop her empathic and mental abilities from Tuvok. Her body was taken over by a power warlord in The Warrior and overwhelmed by another alien with overpowering desires to mate in Elogium. In Before and After, Kes' medical treatment causes her to travel back and forth in time. In The Gift, Kes evolves into a higher energy lifeform and departs Voyager but pushes the ship out of Borg space and ten years closer to home.
