Finding the unexpected

Chapter III

The telephone rang. Stephan sat up in bed. Sunlight hit his skin. He screamed and moved away.
'Damn! What is that? Is the UV already this strong?'
He answered the telephone. It was Sarah.

"Hi Darling! I am so sorry for yesterday! I don't know what has made me do this! Are you able to forgive me?"
"Don't laugh now, I just wanted to call you and I wanted to ask the same. I do forgive you but I am sure it was not just your fault!"
"What about meeting in an hour?", Sarah asked.
"Great! Where?"
"I'll come and pick you up!", she answered and hung up.

He approached the curtain and grabbed one. When his hand was exposed to the sun it started hurting and he tore it back. He started wondering whether he had already become crazy.

Some time later the doorbell rang. He jumped into his jeans and opened the door. Sarah was standing in front of it and smiled at him.

"Are you ready?", she asked.
"I guess so!"

But when he walked through the door and was exposed to the sun there was the pain again and he went back in again.

"Hey, what is wrong with you? Your hand started burning?", she asked, closing the door.
"I don't know! Yesterday when you left a strange guy appeared, started looking into my eyes and after that I can't remember anything until I woke up lying on the park bench and he was sitting beside me. But suddenly he left without a word."
"Strange! Really very strange!", she answered.
"And my hand was full of blood when I was looking at it after having touched my throat!"
"Let me see!" She looked at his throat and found two little, round wounds.
"Do you know where you got them from?", she asked.
"No. Perhaps it was him."

Sarah moved close to Stephan and he put his arm around her.
