1997's Transcon (Transcon 2), presented by Men In Black collectables, was the first Transformer show that I had the privelage of attending. I hear many people routinely slam any show associated with MIB (usually people who didn't even attend).... And while I admit that this one was severly lacking in the "arts & entertainment" side of the fandom, anyone with an interest in toys (especially Japanese Transformers) went home with a big smile on their face from this one. A good crop of dealers (including a small group of Japanese dealers) coupled with a modest attendance turn out made this a great opportunity to get some deals like I never expect to see again. My own purchases were only limited by what I could get home on a plane!

Dealer Room Pics:

Mr. Preto's Table
Mr. Preto's table. A nice mix of imported and domestic toys, but the dealers coming over from Japan beat most of his prices.

Mr Mammer's Table
This dealer wins the awards for nicest display and highest prices. The latter being the reason for the former.
(I call 'em as I see 'em.)

Loose Toys For Sale
And for all of you on a budget, there were plenty of loose toys available, too. Actually, I think I may have bought one or two of these....

Display Room Pics.
Unlike Botcon's dsiplay room, which was dedicated to fan-made items, Transcon's was dedicated mostly to showing off some of the rarer TF items and some prototypes. I believe most of these were from Tony Preto's personal collection. I have, to this day, never seen many of the rarest toys again.

Japanese Gift Sets
Japanese gift sets. For the most part, gestalts were more widely available in Japan as gift sets then in the US. Here, only the Superion and Devastator sets were heavily produced. And there were gift sets for more than just gestalts. Notice the Powermaster Jets set.

European Toys
A few of the European toys.

Japanese Rarities
More European pieces, and some Japanese ones, including the hard to find Minelba and Go-Shooter.

Stumpbots
Stumpbots. And on the right side are the prototypes of the Predacon swords.

Skyfire
Picture of the Skyfire toy. This was a custom built toy by Hirofumi Omichi.

Disply Room Table
And a wide shot of the display table.
