galaxy's child

N416

November 11th, 1992:

    WEAKER THAN THE LAST FIVE.

Why would I recommend this episode to anyone? Probably only for the FX. Little else is of consequence. I might recommend it as a "message-episode". I might not. The point about having pre-conceived notions is well made, but I wonder is it worth making?

    Hmm.

That seems harsh. Maybe I'm in a bad mood. I suppose I, like Geordi, had high hopes for his meeting with Leah Brahms. I sorta wanted things to go well and, as it began, I figured that the predictable thing for the writers to do would be have it fall flat and for Geordi to learn a lesson.

    My prediction came through.

They could have gone for a warm sub-plot, but they didn't.

What they did wasn't wrong, or bad, or badly done. It was fine. But it wasn't what I wanted. Is this the point? Am I living proof of this ep's moral?

A lot could be written about Galaxy's Child.

The best thing about the other story was Picard's reaction to the death of his mother. It was a bit over-written, but it was good.

Overall, I found this episode below par.
