Background: Koda was an ordinary Ferengi female for the first sixteen years of her life. She stayed at home, served her father and two brothers, and wore no clothes. However, at the age of sixteen, Koda met a Ferengi woman named Ishka, who told her about glorious dreams of females gaining the right to wear clothing and earn profit. Koda took Ishka's dreams to heart, and discovered that she had what Ferengi called the "lobes for business"; she had financial wisdom beyond her years. She had soon created a small financial empire for herself, using many aliases and fooling the FCA; and eventually she received an offer to become DaiMon of her own merchant vessel. Knowing that she could never do so on a Ferengi ship, she offered to command a neutral trading vessel instead, where the majority of the crew would be non-Ferengi and therefore would accept a clothed female commander. This vessel was the MV Exchequer.

Koda's one weakness lies with her forever unrequited love for Brunt, from the FCA. She first met him during her childhood, and became smitten instantly. Unfortunately, as she soon discovered, Brunt was an arrogant, liquidating, traditional Ferengi male--in other words, he believed that women should be silent, subservient, and naked. Koda certainly could never agree to any of that, and so Brunt would always remain out of her reach. However, to console herself, Koda reprogrammed the HCI (Holographic Computer Interface) aboard the Exchequer so that the only computer interface in the ship's database was Brunt.

During Koda's childhood, her father Grodo had a good friend named Makir, and they traded daughters often when they needed respites from their own family of females. Koda was present in Makir's house one day when she was fourteen when he was throwing a family party, and naturally his nephew Brunt was present, also. It was then that Koda first met Brunt. Koda suspected that the cousin of her beloved, the Ferengi male named Sharik, knew about her secrets. She saw him watching her with curiosity every chance he got. When she ran away from home to pursue her own financial interests, she hoped that Sharik would never tell anyone...

Personality: Koda is as ambitious and latinum-hungry as any Ferengi male, and she is very clever. She is very good at gambling and at bargaining--and at subterfuge. In most respects, she is like the average Ferengi male, except for her acute liking for males in general.
