Comments: I first saw this sculpture in Spectrum 4, the fourth in a yearly series presenting the best in contemporary fantastic art (I highly recommend all four of the books. Volume 5 is due out soon). Being selected for inclusion in Spectrum is quite an honor and Sam Greenwell certainly deserves it for this piece. She is a stunner and as soon as she became available as a model, I immediately ordered one. She has the distinction as being the only model I actually started on the day I got it. She is somewhat unusual in that she is made of solid vinyl as opposed to the either solid resin or hollow vinyl composition that most kits are. It was very easy to work with as far as the clean up, but for some reason it did not glue very well. Super glue did stick very well and I ended up having to pin most major pieces to give them the support they needed. Some people pin by gluing a small nail into one piece and then drilling a large hole in the connecting piece which they then fill with putty. While that is still soft, they glue the two pieces and fit them together using the give of the putty and the large hole to allow movement to get good alignment. This works pretty good, but I prefer a slightly different method. I first glue and fit the pieces as accurately as possible. I then use a Dremel tool and a tiny drill bit to drill a hole that transverses both pieces. I then dip a tiny appropriately sized nail into super glue and insert it into the hole across the pieces, making sure that the metal end is actually below the outer surface of the model. I then put a tiny drop of glue to seal it and fill with putty and smooth. Voila! An instant accurate secure fit.
