Sculptor: unknown Company: Amok Toys Scale: 1/6 Material: resin Date Completed: 7/96 Comments: What a beautiful piece even if I say so myself. Rogue is one of my favorite superheroes and even more special because she is a Mississippi girl (and everyone knows that they are my weakness). This is a "garage kit", one produced on a small scale and probably without license. It is sold under the name "Savage X" in case you want to look for it. It did take a lot of putty work and sanding in order to get the smooth look you see here, but it was a labor of love. My wife did suggest that I tone down the breasts some and remove the prominent nipples. As always, she was right and I think it gave the model a more natural look. Everyone who has seen it has commented on the hair and asked how I did it. First, start with a deep red brown, followed by dry brushing a slightly lighter shade of the same over it. Next hit the high points with an almost pure red. The shock is done by using a light gray color completely coating the hair at the top but dry brushing it over the red at the edges. Follow this with a light white dry brush over the gray and at the junction of the red and gray. It is a shame that such an outstanding piece of sculpture work goes uncredited, so if anyone knows who did this piece, please let me know. |
