She Hulk

Sculptor: Glenn Hanz Company: Horizon Scale: 1/6 Material: vinyl Date Completed: 1995 Comments: My very first female model and boy does it show. I learned a valuable lesson with this one. I had just read an article about filling vinyl models with the expanding foam filler out of spray can in order to make then more stable. I tried it on this one and initially had good results. Unfortunately, when I applied a blow dryer to speed the paint drying, her head began to swell, turning into an egg-shaped structure about twice its current size. Apparently, I had missed the warning about how this stuff expanded with heat. I had to cut a window in the back of her head and dig the stuff out. Most of the details in the sculpture returned, but I still see a huge egg for a head every time I look at this model.
