The Thing

I had done an occasional robot or mecha model over the years, but when I saw this one the fire of my youth was rekindled. Growing up as an overweight child, Benjamin Grimm of the Fantastic Four was my favorite comic book character. His angst over being trapped in a body that did not reflect what he was and felt inside mirrored many of my own feelings. I stumbled my way through this model, not knowing any of the techniques I have since learned, following my heart more than anything else. If I ever come across another of these models I plan on picking it up and maybe now I can do my old friend justice.
