Well here I am expounding on wolves again one of my faviorite subjects. Anyway on with the adventures of my wolves. I told you about Wea running away and about shoshonnie and Cheyenne climbing fences. But I didn't tell you one run away story that envolved me. Well Shonnie and Cheyene ran away and they were gone a couple of weeks. Then I started hearing them howling. I looked everywhere and finally saw them at the bottom of this cliff next to the river. Well being the good Mom I am I climbed down to get them. Well I wasn't thinking very well because I didn't figure after I boosted them up the cliff how I would get up again. They just ran off and left me. After several tries at climbing back up I knew I was stuck. Well, then the two of them came back to get me and I hung on to them until I got back up the hill.
The final run away was when I finally was forced to leave the 90 acres that I was living on and decided that I had to sell the wolves. I sold them to a guy in Wasington who owned about the same amount of land I did on the mountain and he owned a sled. I had trained these guys to pull a sled by then. Well he came and got them and I was crying hard as I waved goodbye. Several hours later he called to let me know he took them out on the sled, he had ten dogs on the sled and they had run away. He only caught glimpses after that or tracks. Since he lived on a national forest who is to know if they will ever be seen again.
That is the short version of my story of my wolves. I hope you didn't find it too boring. I loved them very much but I was never able to contain them. I didn't have to protect man from the wolves but I certainly had to protect the wolves from man. Would I own them again? No I don't think so they are a wild creature and though the ones I owned were very loving and I will never have an experience like that again. It is too dangerous for wolves in captivity. Man is afraid of them and many people are afraid of wolves so want to destroy them. If you would like to know more about wolves go to my wolf link page. They are a wonder.
Wolves like to instictual part of ourselves are disappearing killed by man's fears. Hang on to this precious part of you. Experience the instictual part and the animal part of you it might be the best part of yourself.
The wolf prints in the snow lead where? To the wolf's extinction? We have to ask ourselves where is our future if we lose the wolf? If the wolf is hunted into extinction what have we lost? Part of ourselves I think.
