* This spell is interesting, because the way it is worded, can be used to cast the circle at the same time!!!

To consecrate and dedicate an altar to the Lord and Lady.

First find the place where you wish to set up the altar. This place must not be disturbed, for it will take on sacred and holy energies, and you will not want anything to happen to this area. Use some quiet meditational music if there is some available. Remember, the more energy and work that you put into your altar, the more magickal energy it will take on. You may even use an energy bell or Tibetan bell to signify that you are beginning to call those spiritual guides to assist you with your present work. Action is the key!

Once you have found that place, take a smudge wand of Sage, light it and begin to clear the air around the altar. Constantly, keep Love and Light in your consciousness. Now, move to the four elements and ask for their guiding presence. Use a compass if needed to find the proper directions on the Earth.

North =Earth
South = Fire
East = Air
West = Water
Around = Spirit

Ask for their blessings and honor their assistance. Next, begin to set up the altar, placing each item you wish on the altar gently and reverently. Use the Consecration Ritual if you need to consecrate any magickal tools. You'll know what those items are as time passes. The altar will change its appearance as the seasons change. On your altar can be anything you wish, anything! Some altars are outside, some are inside. Some are clean and orderly, while others are cluddered with anything and everything around them. Yet, you must keep this place of sacredness, honorable to the God and Goddess.

You may wish to use two 7 day candles (buy at 99 cent store) to represent the ever presence of the God and Goddess in your life. Black for God, White for Goddess. Red of fire, incense for Air, small bowl of water for west, and something of the Earth for North. Once your altar is set up the way you want it, spend a few moments in quiet meditation thinking about what this altar means to you. Now, allow the altar to fill you with its magick and energy. Feel the magick around you. Breathe in the Love and Light from the Lord and Lady. Visual yourself revitalized because of it's presence. See yourself becoming more healthy, whole, and wise. Now, visualize healing for someone else, maybe someone you do not even know. Send them Love and Light.

When you are ready to end your dedication and consecration ritual, sound the bell once again, thanking all elements for their presence and assistance. Send them back to their humble abode harming none on their way. Now, thank the Lord and Lady for their presence in your life. Take a deep breath of the fresh magick around you and repeat:

So be it!
It is done!

Allow the Lord and Lady candles to burn constantly, replacing them week after week, month after month, year after year.

Consecration of Other Working Tools

Used for any ritual item other than an Athame or Sword.

Man and Woman lay their right hands on the tool, which is placed on the pentacle. Say:

"Aradia and Cernunnos, deign to bless and consecrate this white handled knife (or whatever) that it may obtain the necessary virtue through you for all acts of love and beauty."

The man sprinkles the tool with the salt and water mixture then the woman passes it through the smoke of the incense. She then puts it back onto the Pentacle. Say:

"Aradia and Cernunnos, bless this instrument prepared in your honor."

Once again the man sprinkles and the woman censes.

The one who is not the owner then gives the five fold kiss to the one who owns the tool. For the final kiss on the mouth they hold the tool between their bodies. The owner should then immediately use it. Incise something with the white-hilted knife, exhibit the Pentacle to the four quarters, cense the four quarters, etc.

When not in use, all tools should be put away in a secret place; and it is good that this should be near your sleeping place and that you handle them each night before retiring.

Consecrating Personal Jewelry, Etc.

Man and woman place the object on the Pentacle and lay their right hands upon it. They say:

"We consecrate thee in the element of Earth."

They sprinkle the object with the salt and water mixture, saying:

"We consecrate thee in the element of Water."

They pass the object through the smoke of the incense, saying:

"We consecrate thee in the element of Air."

They pass the object above the flame of the candle.

"We consecrate thee in the element of Fire, in the names of Aradia and Cernunnos."

If the object is something that can be worn or used immediately it should be.

Crystal Consecration ritual

Perform the following ritual on a night of the full moon to cleanse a crystal of negative influences and to charge it with healing power.

Begin by lighting two white altar candles ( one on each side of the altar). Place a small bowl or cup of fresh rainwater (or melted snow) and a dish of sand, soil or salt on the altar. In the center of the altar, place a censer containing any of the following incenses: frankincense, myrrh, nutmeg, patchouli, rose, saffron or sandalwood.

Take the crystal in your right hand and pass it through the smoke of the incense as you say:

By the power of the Goddess and by the ancient and mystical element of air. I consecrate and dedicate this crystal as a magickal tool of healing.

Gently place the crystal in the dish of sand, soil or salt, and say:

By the power of the Horned God and by the ancient and mystical element of earth. I consecrate and dedicate this crystal as a magickal tool of healing.

Sprinkle a few drops of water on the crystal, and say:

By the power of the universe and by the ancient and mystical element of water. I consecrate and dedicate this crystal as a magickal tool of healing.

Once again, take the crystal in your right hand. Move it in a sunwise circle around the flame of each candle as you say:

By the power of love and by the ancient and mystical element of fire. I consecrate and dedicate this crystal as a magickal tool of healing. May this crystal stone of power work for my good and for the good of all. So be it!

After the consecration ritual has been performed, cup the crystal between your hands and allow it to harmonise with your aura and spiritual consciousness. Breathe gently upon the crystal as you direct your thoughts and intentions into it. The charged crystal will respond to the energy of your will.

Consecration of the Water and Salt

Place the bowl of water on the Pentacle, hold the tip of the Athame in the water, and say:>br> "I exorcise thee, O Creatures of Water, that thou cast out from thee all the impurities and uncleanness of the spirits of the world of phantasm."
Remove the bowl from the Pentacle and replace it with the salt, and say:
"Blessings be upon this Creature of Salt; let all malignity and hindrance be cast forth thence from, and let all good enter therein. Wherefore I bless thee and invoke thee, that thou mayest aid me."
Changing the bowls over again and pouring the salt into the water, say:
"But ever mind, water purifies the body, but the scourge purifies the soul.

How Wands Are Made

Work in a Sacred Space when making Wands. When creating a personal ritual tool such as a Wand, working in Circle helps you to focus your energies and blend them with the particular intent of each Wand. In Sacred Space, You attune yourself with the Creative Powers, touch your Muse, and listen to the Goddess as you work. Art and Magick become entwined as the Wands take form. At the Full Moon, any Wands you have created in that Moon cycle are charged and blessed in Sacred Circle before being used. The Wands are made from natural tree branches, gathered gently and respectfully from a area around where you live, during the New moon. The branches are stripped of bark and allowed to dry for one Mooncycle. Both branches and crystals are cleansed and purified with herbs and the powers of the Moon and Sun.

Each Wand is set with a natural crystal point of clear Quartz, Amethyst or Citrine on the projective end, (you do not have to add a crystal, but it is nice if you can) and is wrapped with soft velvet to form a handle on the receptive end in a color appropriate for its magickal intent.

Both crystal and cloth handle are wound 'round with Copper or Silver wire (you can also use leather) in spiraling designs and the branch is then carved with Runes (or other symbols/sigils/magickal alphabets if you wish to make a specially customed wand) appropriate to the magickal intent of the Wand. Each Wand should have a velvet pouch to match its handle, and a card explaining the materials used in its creation. This is used for your book of shadows. Good luck at making your wands and ALWAYS remember to thank the tree for giving you the branch to make your wand.

alternately, try this

There are many ways to do this. You start with a fallen tree branch that you feel is a comfortable size. Scrape off the old bark with your bolline (a white-handled, ritual knife for harvesting herbs and cutting them), or any knife. If the wand is for a specific purpose, anoint it with an oil, or a few herbs. If it is a general-purpose wand, use a general oil, altar oil, or if you have nothing else, use kitchen olive oil with basil and cinnamon steeped in it. A few drops will do nicely.

You can buy embroidery string at any craft or hobby shop. The colors of string appropriate for a general wand are the colors of the rainbow. Remember: ROY G BIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet). You might make the "handle" with a heavier string such as a satin rope. Squeeze a little glue on the wood and wrap sections with the colored string. You could stop at different spots and glue on tumbled stones. At the top, glue a quartz crystal. A bag with herbs and a stone is a nice touch to hang off the wand, too.

How to make a Traditional Besom (Witches Broom)

: Besoms, or round-shaped brooms, are deeply linked to Witches and their magick, both in popular fantasy and inactual practice. Brooms were one of the "safe" tools ofWitchcraft, meaning they were a necessary household object that could not be held up as evidence of Witchcraft in the clerical courts.

Brooms are used as wands to focus and direct energy, to sweep areas clean of negativity, to ground a finished circle, and to protect hearths and kitchen magick. Two crossed brooms were used in medieval Ireland to preventnegativity from entering homes through the fireplace or front door.

FIRST - You must obtain a 3 to 4 foot stick or dowel, 1 inch in diameter. This shaft can be painted or decorated. You will also need a small bundle of straw or broomcorn, approximately 16 to 20 inches long and some utility twine, about 2 to 3 feet.
NEXT - Lay the broomcorn or straw up against the bottom shaft of the stick. Cut straw approximately 4 to 6 inches longer than desired finished length.
NEXT - Approximately 2 inches above the end, tie twine tightly around straw and broom handle. You may wish to apply some craft glue to the lower 2 inches to help secure loose straw ends.
AND THEN - Bend the straws backwards over the tie. Secure with twine close to where the broom handle sticks out.

Besoms are great gifts for home decoration, magical protection, or both!

The spell is at the heart of folk magick. it is simply a ritual in which various tools re purposefully used, the goal is fully stated (in words, pictures or within the mind): & energy is moved to bring about the needed result.

Spells can be as simple as reciting a short chant over a fresh rose while placing it between 2 pink candles in order to draw love; forming & retaining an image of the needed result in the mind; or placing a quartz crystal in a sunny window for protection purposes.

To perform effective magick - 3 necessities must be present: The Need, the Emotion & the Knowledge.

It has been said that magick was the first religion, & that if you lovingly utilize the forces of nature to cause beneficial change, you also become one of them.

It is these powers that have been personified as Goddesses & Gods. Attuning with them is a spiritual experience & is the basic of all true religion.

COMPOSE THE RHYME OR WORDS OF POWER

Clearly state your need.

Clearly state all dimensions of your need (enduring love, rather than just love; complete protection, rather than just physical protection; etc.).

If possible, mention some of the tools that you've decided to use in the spell in your words of power or magickal rhyme. Indeed, for some spells, these words may help you to structure the entire rhyme or chant.

Use hypnotic words (those beginning with 's" or containing a "z") for psychic-awareness, love, healing spells; Use potent, strong words for protection spells. match the words to the type of ritual you're composing.

Don't expect the words to simply flow from you. Work at it & work with them. Your psychic mind knows what you need.

EXAMPLES:

"I ask in the name of (Goddess & God or The All) that I, Morgan, be granted (state desire)...I ask that this be correct & for the good of all people. So mote it be. In no way will this spell reverse, or place upon me any curse."

"In this night & in this hour, I call upon the Ancient power. O Goddess Bride & Consort Bright, I ask thee now to bring your light."

"I have a need that must be met. I ask thee (name of deity) that I obtain the perfect (whatever it is) for (reason)."

"I ask the Universe to lend the power of all the correct astrological correspondences so they may enter this circle now to obtain my desire."

"Therefore, I specifically draw toward myself the (desire) without affecting the free will of all & harming none."

"I now proclaim this spell is done. The (desire) is mine! In no way will this spell reverse, or place upon me any curse! As I will, so mote it be!"

"In this sacred space & time, We call now the Old Ones; the Goddess of the moon, seas & rivers; the God of the rayed Sun, of valleys & forests; Draw near us during this, our circle.

Spellcrafting

FOCUS: The most important part in ritual or spellcrafting is focus. Before beginning any spell or ritual, I sit down and tell myself why I am doing this and the outcome I am aiming for. Say I've hurt my back. I want to do a healing spell. Why? Because I want my back to heal. Main focus is sending healing energies to my back.
VISUALIZATION: Now that I have my focus, visualization will come easily to me. As I am performing my ritual or spell, I am also visualizing the focus and the outcome I desire. For my back, I would visualize healing energies entering me, 'massaging' my back, loosening up my muscles. I see in my minds eyes and feel that my back is healed.
MOON CYCLES: I follow the cycles of the moon to determine the angle of my focus. New Moons are for new beginnings. The waxing Moon, when the Moon is growing larger, is the time for growth and gain. The Full Moon s the time for abundance. The waning Moon, when the moon grows smaller, is the time to banish, dispel, reduce, remove. Not everyone bases their workings on the moon and I am sure others interpret the phases differently from me.
COLOURS: There are many interpretations for colours. I say, go by what you feel. I chose the colour candle that suits my work and I use a scarf to set main altar pieces on. A light soft blue is for healing and inner peace. Red is a colour of great energy and fierce love. Pink is for a gentle love and for happy feelings. Green is for the Earth and life. Brown is also for the earth and for animals. White is for purification. I use a black candle to burn away depression. Silver, for protection and to deflect negative energies. Gold is a joyous colour and one of strength. These are the main colours that I work with.
See Corespondances for a more detailed explanation of colors.
HERBS: I mostly use herbs in teas and for medicinal purposes but I will on occasion use them in ritual or spellcrafting. Again, I go by the feelings that I get from the herbs. Dried rose petals and dried carnations for love. For 'woman troubles' I use raspberry leaves. The tea made from these leaves is just a great tonic for the females organs that I also use it when feeling unbalanced due to hormones. It is a very practical herb. Very purposeful and straight forward. Lemon Balm for cleaning and removing negativity. Sage for smudging and purification.
See Herbs for a more detailed explanation of herbs.
STONES: I use stones based on colour and the feeling I get from them. How do I get a feeling from a stone? I close my eyes, empty my mind, and wait for a feeling from the stone to come to me.
SEASHELLS: They represent fertility, the power of creation, Aphrodite, and the protective ocean womb.
