Underneath them appeared a light which flickered and then glowed intensely before suddenly disappearing. After about a second or two it re-appeared in what must have been 20 miles to the east over the ocean. It remained there for maybe 10 seconds or so and then glowed brighter and vanished. The light was white and it did seem like it was flickering or hazy but it was really strange how it glowed before it vanished each time. - NUFORC

2 witnesses report seeing two craft flying in clear, sunny skies, when one became stationary.  Both were at high altitude.  They initially believed them to be aircraft at high altitude, but when one stopped moving, they realized it was of an altitude far too high for a rotary wing aircraft.  The sky was clear, and sunny and the craft were illuminating a bright white light. - NUFORC
Andover MA 2001 January 26     While driving home, a witness reports seeing an apparent approaching small aircraft that was together with another light, suddenly this light light just screamed across his viewpoint. It seemed to slow very quickly and descend. - NUFORC

Waldoboro ME 2001 January 10     A witness reports that while driving on route 1 southbound he noticed a bright object in the sky straight ahead and in the sky. He watched the object until he reached his destination.  At first he thought it was a meteor but there was no tail involved. He also thought about it being an aircraft yet there was no jet stream coming from it. He got a pair of binoculars to try to get a better view of it but could not tell what it was. It was red like it was on fire and had a cigar shape to it.  No blinking lights or anything that made it look like a plane were seen. - NUFORC
Saco ME 2000 December 27     A witness reported seeing a very bright light moving very slow.  He pulled into a parking lot and watched the triangle shaped craft move over as it was three times the size of any aircraft he'd seen before.  It had a huge white light in the front and a large square in the bottom center of it and three smaller squares on each wing with a red light on each wing tip. - NUFORC
Concord NH 2000 December 20     A witness reported he was going to move the car in the driveway when he looked up and saw a roundish green object with reddish light around the edge of it.  It was going about 200-400 m.p.h. south to north.  There was an odd smell like sulfur 30 seconds later.  It lasted for about 10 seconds.  The same thing 3 seconds later 2 others side by side following close behind.  Same lights, sulfur smell, etc. - NUFORC
Gloucester MA 2000 December 19     A witness reports having his camcorder with him across from the new stadium being built for the Patriots.  As he was zooming in on one of the crane tops he noticed a round shiny object fly to the left of it for about 15 seconds and disappeared.  About half way thru its flight it glowed very brightly and dimmed as the flight ended. - NUFORC
Norwalk CT 2000 December 11     Witnesses report seeing a very bright light coming towards them from the north. At first they thought it was a helicopter with unusually bright anti-collision lights, but the light wasn't white, it was yellow/orange, like a campfire. The size at first was approximately 3 to 4 times the size of Venus, which was visible in the west at that time. They turned off the radio to hear it, but there was no sound. As they watched, it gradually traveled south over their house. As it traveled south, it gradually slowed down. A bit past their chimney, the object stopped, and just hovered in place for about 2 minutes, while they watched it flicker. There was no pulse or regularity to the flickering.  The object began to move again, this time towards the northeast, and faster. Then it appeared to turn away from them. They live in a very heavy aircraft traffic area, and this object did not
display any normal navigation or anti-collision lights. -
NUFORC
Foxboro MA 2000 December 2     A witness reports that while taking an evening walk with the family, they noticed a bright white light bobbing around in the easterly skies. It looked like a star, but it's motion was erratic,...never staying in the same spot for more than just a few seconds. It moved up and down, and jogged back and forth laterally. It disappeared behind a hill and did not reappear. - NUFORC
Auburn NH 2000 November 23     Two adults and a child report seeing two objects, both didn't move much in 1 1/2 half hours. When they moved they swayed, spiraled or zigzagged. They saw lots of colors coming from them.  Blue, green and red dominated. When viewing one with binoculars reportably could see rows of windows.  They watched them to about 11:30 pm and both were still in the sky when they went to bed. - NUFORC
Bradford MA 2000 November 19     Driving South on Interstate 495, witnesses report seeing a large dark object extremely high in the air. It held a stationary position. They pulled over to a rest stop and had a video camera with them. They zoomed in and it started to take shape, the view became distorted and shaky. They drew back the shot and got a good shot of the distance in height compared to the tree line. A car pulled in  and a guy asked what they were looking at. They pointed up and asked what he thought it was. He said a balloon or something. His friend thought it might be a helicopter. They said that a balloon would pop at that height and it would be moving. They thought that a helicopter wouldn't be able to reach that height. They both looked in the camera and said that they couldn't figure it out. Another car pulled in and a lady asked what they thought it was. The shape of the object, almost looked like a cluster of balloons. They decided to get back into the car since the object wasn't really doing anything. They noticed a small plane coming towards them. They took the camera so they could get both in the same shot. They figured this might be a good way to see the distance in height and size. The plane was a lot lower and a lot closer to them. They recorded the plane and zoomed in on it. When they drew back to get both objects it was gone. They panned around the area to see if it moved but couldn't find it again. They don't believe that the plane had anything to do with it because the plane was a lot lower and seemed to be already passed it. They didn't notice any lights or sound. The sky was a light gray due to the time of the day. - NUFORC
Seabrook NH 2000 November 17     During the rush hour evening commute, two stationary crafts in the sky over I-95 were reported to have separated from each other and one launched a fireball.  Initially a witness saw what he thought was the rear wingspan of a landing airplane. It caught his attention because the left wing lights were blinking like the craft was signaling a turn. On the left wing there were three white lights equally distanced apart. On the right wing there were only two lights, a white and a red one. They were located at the outside and inside ends of what he thought was the right wing of a large airplane. He was driving north on I-95 at 70 mph. After a few moments of observing the craft he realized that it was stationary in the sky. The crafts separated, the one on the left was lower and the one on the right went up. The two crafts remained within a matter of yards of each other. As he continued to watch the crafts he saw the upper craft launch a fireball in a northward direction. It resembled a shooting star in the night sky. The fireball followed a straight trajectory until it disappeared from view in the distance. He pulled into a rest area parking lot to continue watching the crafts. The two crafts moved slowly to the south, continuing to maintain a pairing.  - NUFORC
Windsor Locks 2000 November 4     A witness was looking into a view finder and zooming in on the passenger jet when a bright object appears in the view box and lasts about 8 seconds .  At the time he did not think too much of it .  After returning home he made a careful frame by frame inspection of the video tape . The object appears as a white ball or oval shaped object and is located on the right side of the passenger jet's contrail. The object then goes behind the jet's contrail and reappears on the other side of the contrail.  This object has just covered 30 thousand feet in 3 seconds. The object while descending made a sharp U turn. - NUFORC
Northampton MA 2000 October 25

A witness reports walking out of the house and seeing a quick fireball in sky. It had a brighter light in front and looked like sparks behind it. It quickly dimmed. - NUFORC

Southbury 2000 October 23     A witness noticed a solid, bright light in the east sky. The day before, he read a report stating that most people mistake UFO's for Venus because they do not expect the planet to be so bright. He ruled out that the light was probably Venus. He saw a second light, lower than Venus and to the right. Dimmer, and smaller, but bright nonetheless, and solid. He looked at the sky with concentration. Not a cloud in sight for miles, everything perfectly clear. He looked at the moon which appeared to be in the south. It was a crescent moon. This is when he saw the light. A bright, flickering object in the sky off in the distance. It was on the left side, lower than Venus, to create an equilateral triangle. He stopped and stared at the "UFO", it clearly wasn't a planet, or an airplane. In fact as he looked at the object, he figured that it was blinking about 4 times a second. The entire object wasn't blinking. It had other lights, and only a portion of lights, on the bottom half of it, were blinking. He wasn't walking anymore, and noticed that it was moving back and forth slowly and unsteadily. Then came an airplane. In a relative distance to the UFO. He have seen strange lights in the sky before, but this is the first time he believes it couldn't be anything else, not a flare, a plane, a planet, the moon, a balloon, or spotlight. It was some sort of craft. - NUFORC
Rocky Hill CT

2000 October 21    On their way to dinner witnesses observed 5 objects in the eastern sky. It was light out. The objects were like a dark gray color. They were in a "V" formation almost like a flock of geese. The leading object dipped then flew up and went between the other 4 then disappeared.  The remaining 4 objects went into several different formations. At one point two of them separated from the other two. They remained like that for about 3 minutes. They judged the distance to be about 15 feet between the pairs. Then they just disappeared. They had a digital camera with them and one was able to capture one fairly good picture. At the time the picture was taken, you can see three of them. They don't know how to make the objects bigger in the picture, but someone is coming over to see if he can help. - NUFORC
Hatfield MA 2000 October 19     A couple were outside of their apartment with a telescope looking at the stars, one was sitting down looking up and said to the other, do you see that, he said yes.  They saw what seemed to be a star, then it got brighter and brighter, it looked like a light bulb, it continued to come down all lit up, then it just died out and took off in a northerly direction. - NUFORC
Belmont VT 2000 October 12     A witness reports that a cigar shaped craft was hovering in the southwestern sky fairly close to the ground. There were lights on it. There was a bright strobe type light emitting from the bottom of the craft onto the forest floor. The witness went into the house to call her son to see it and when they came back it was gone. The witness saw this same craft the week before in the middle of the night and in the same area and it lasted over ten  minutes before it suddenly disappeared from sight. - NUFORC
West Warwick RI 2000 October 8     While sitting in a yard a number of witnesses saw what at first appeared to be about a dozen white balloons that were released and floating across the sky. As they drifted to the right some of them paired off.  Four or five of the objects went behind some clouds so they determined they were to big and far away for balloons. The seven that were left formed into a triangle, a vertical row of three and a vertical row of two and stayed stationary for a few minutes. One of the witnesses went next door to borrow a pair of binoculars.  When they looked back up the objects were gone and did not reappear. - NUFORC
Goshen NH 2000 September 14     Two witnesses report looking to the north east and seeing a fire ball appear in the sky. The thing was way off in the distance and was  visible only for a short time. It appeared to have two distinct streams of fire or vapor around the back end. - NUFORC
Fall River MA 2000 September 8    A report was made of a translucent ball that was seen to hover over the Learning Resources Center of Bristol Community College for over an hour. It was seen by a number of students but when pointed out to a security man, he claimed not to be able to see it. The object was approximately 20 feet in diameter and seemed to float just above the top of an antenna on the building. After about an hour, it just disappeared. - NUFORC
Hanson MA 2000 September 5     Approximately 10 people could see a seemingly stationary light in the ESE sky. It flashed once every 10 seconds and wasn't easy to spot.  Everyone did see it by watching the right area and waiting for the flash. Binoculars were passed around and it was discovered there was a second fainter one near it, possibly a third even fainter. As they watched for fifteen minutes it was noticed that they had moved significantly in relation to the stars. As they watched they ruled out airplanes and "normal" satellites.  The most visible light was the size of a star. Upon returning home it was still there 15 minutes later having moved a little. - NUFORC
Attleboro MA 2000 September 1      A witness saw a strange light in the sky while he was walking the dog and went to get my wife to look out the window but by then it was gone.  It was only there for maybe 30 seconds.  It kind of looked like a crescent moon with points of light curving top and bottom to the left with a bright shining round ball in the middle of the shape. No planes in the sky and the sky was partly cloudy at the time. - NUFORC
Hopkinton NH 2000 August 25     A person reports going outside to smoke a cigarette and noticing an object very high that resembled a star, but it  was moving.  There were no blinking lights on the object which would indicate that it was an airplane.  The object came from the north and traveled towards the southwest. The person listened for sounds as the object moved away but there was none. - NUFORC
Londonderry NH 2000 August 24     A star like flashing object was seen in the Northwest sky over Londonderry.  For about 15 minutes it looked like it changed colors from red to silver.  It moved downward and upward and slowly took off.  - NUFORC

A witness reports looking up at the sky (mid center) observed a passenger aircraft that was a large to medium jumbo jet flying ENE towards Boston at approximately 10-15k feet, observed a brown object that flew around the craft then following it for a while before it maneuvered in a strange fashion before taking off in a northern path and out of site. - NUFORC

Concord NH 2000 August 5     A man and his wife were outside having a cigarette when she looked up and saw an object and then it just shot off to the South west.  She said it was kind of like a car's headlight.  She did not think it was an airplane and she said it was faster than anything she had ever seen.  It made no sound. - NUFORC
Marshfield VT 2000 July 23     Witnesses were reported to have seen a bright light going up and down in a field off Rt. 2 near an Inn around 1:30 am. One witness was driving and says she never saw anything like it. It suddenly completely surrounded her car. - NUFORC
Wallingford CT 2000 July 20     Report of within a ten minute period 3 separate objects appeared. They were bluish white single lights. They flew in opposite directions. One went east, one northeast,  the other west. They were very bright for about 1 second then the brilliance went out, however the witness continued to track them thru binoculars. They appeared to be large spheres and moved across the sky in about 20- 30 seconds. They appeared to be at an altitude above small planes but below high flying jets. Sometimes they pulsate and sometimes not. When they do show up it is usually in clusters within a 10-20 minute segment as was this sighting. Even with binoculars they still appear as orbs. -  NUFORC
Pasquag RI 2000 July 14     A witness reported seeing a round object about 40 yards in diameter that had two bright white lights in the front and back and  two flashing lights on each side that randomly changed colors to red, yellow, blue, and a really sharp white.  It made a high pitch humming sound and as it got closer the noise got louder. - NUFORC
Colebrook NH 2000 July 3     Two witnesses were in a vehicle driving north on route 3 out of Colebrook towards Pittsburg at approx. 10:30 p.m. on a cloudy and drizzly night. They were talking and both both took notice of all the fire flies in front of their vehicle. While looking out of the windshield they saw a capsule shaped green glowing object in the sky directly over head and then in the next instant it landed in front of them on the highway.  The only way they were able to see this was because of the huge flash of green light that it gave off. They immediately turned the vehicle around and drove in the opposite direction.   While doing this one witness saw that the craft was disk shaped, black with red under glow.  They were driving away, not being able to move very fast because of the weather conditions, traveled at least four miles and spotted the craft now glowing solid green following them as it was about a mile away just above tree line.  They sped up driving at least 75 miles per hour. Both were terrified and did not get a good or curious feeling from or about this thing.  When they looked again in the rear view it was not there. They drove back into Colebrook and reported it to the police. - NUFORC
Boston MA 2000 June 27      A couple reports that while in the Boston Common walking away from the public gardens towards the Park St. station, they noticed a fast moving light heading east to west in the sky. The approach for commercial planes was directly over the common heading due east, the opposite direction of which way the light was moving. It was clearly not a helicopter for it made no sound resembling a helicopter, although it was possible this object was too high to hear the sound if it made one. It was visible for about ten seconds at about a 40 degree angle in the southern sky of where they were at that particular point (the exact location of the sighting was about 100 yards north of the gate which is across the street from the public garden, on the path next to the softball field. - NUFORC
Revere MA 2000 June 20     A witness reports that he glanced out one of the living room windows, the one facing west, and saw a UFO.  He grabbed a pair of binoculars in order to observe it more closely. It was a single craft in a disk or saucer shape. It appeared to be moving very slowly and at a low altitude in a north by northeast direction. Because of this movement, he had to switch to a northerly facing window at the front of his living room through which to continue to observe it. Being on a 3rd floor lifted him above the surrounding houses and gave him an unobstructed view of this object in the sky. It appeared to glow and was luminous tan in color. Tiny lights red, green, yellow, white, etc. in color flashed on & off all over the surface of this moving object. This reminded him of the random flashing of a Christmas tree light array. The disk of this craft did not appear to be rotating. It was majestically beautiful in its polychromatic luminousness and surreal slow motion in the night sky. At one point a jet or propeller airplane appeared through the binoculars in the same field of vision, but its white light was far more distant than the UFO and moved much more rapidly. (Through an east window of his living room he can see Revere Beach, MA and the Atlantic Ocean. The Logan International Airport is nearby.) As the craft moved northeastward, it passed over the floodlights of the Wonderland race track north of his home. Soon thereafter the UFO disappeared out of his view over the horizon. From the moment he first saw it until this, approximately 15 minutes elapsed. This craft was not a propeller plane or jet, not a helicopter, not a balloon, but, literally, a UFO. - NUFORC
Framingham MA 2000 June 11

A witness reports that while traveling on Route 9 he observed an object that looked like a semi deflated hot air balloon approx. 40' round and glowing orange in color. This object caught his attention as it appeared to be falling or drifting off one of the buildings in the east bound lane. As he quickly approached the building he observed this object was moving. He began to pick up speed to catch up to this object at one point and was going 65 mph and still not gaining on it.  This went on for approx. 3/4 of a mile, he could see it very clearly it was moving just above the tree line moving west in the east bound side of the road when it just vanished. - NUFORC

Lunenburg MA 2000 June 11     A witness reports that while driving along at about 3 AM on a clear, starry night, the moon had likely already set by this time, on the opposite horizon.  He saw a spherical object at his 10 o'clock position, about 30 degrees above the horizon, in the northwest. It was bright and luminous, but not bright enough to cause him to squint. The quality of the light reminded him of florescent, dull white with a slight bluish tinge. The light did not pulsate, or show any other variation. The most interesting thing was the size of the light. It had the apparent size of a penny at arms length, much to big to be an aircraft or landing lights. The brightness was even across the diameter, and the edge was sharp, with no halo effect, against the background of the clear night sky. It gave the impression of a self luminous, spherical object, not a bright light projected from a small source. The object hovered completely stationary for a full five seconds, at least. There were enough clear stars to judge its relative movement, or lack there of. He lives fairly close to a municipal airport, and is very familiar with aircraft lights and the effect of a head-on landing light. This was not an ordinary aircraft, and the size of the light made its unusual nature very clear. The object suddenly blinked out, as if a light had been extinguished, and a split second later re-appeared north of its original position, slightly higher in the sky. He would estimate its apparent movement relative to the star field was a fists distance at arms length. The interesting thing was that when it reappeared, in addition to the visual distance in movement, the object appeared to be only one-third to one-quarter the diameter it appeared originally. The light still had a wider visual diameter than an ordinary aircraft light, and maintained its almost florescent quality. Roughly a second after it reappeared, it started moving in a northerly direction, covering about four fists width in about three seconds. As it moved relative to the star field northward, it also very quickly diminished in size and brightness, until it totally disappeared from view. Just before vanishing, the light was much smaller than the way a typical star appears in your vision, and the quality of the light was more a dim reddish orange. Just as unusual as the large diameter of the light was at the beginning of the sighting, the tiny pin prick of light before it disappeared was much smaller than the lights from even high altitude airliners. As it diminished in size, it very quickly reached such a small size that it would not have been noticed at all by anyone not following the trajectory of the object. It gave the clear impression of an object shooting skyward at incredible speed, but not straight up. More like an 80 to 85 degree climb. There was no discernible form to the object, but its perfect circular appearance from my viewing angle seems to support a spherical rather than disk shape. There is no way to be certain of its actual size, but he had the very strong impression that its distance from him at the beginning of the sighting a quarter mile to half mile, or less, and its altitude somewhere between 800 and 1500 feet. If so, based on the rate of decrease in the visual size of the light as it climbed, he would guess that it climbed a number of miles in altitude in seconds. It was the perceived speed and rate of climb that cemented the impression that this object was extremely extraordinary in nature. - NUFORC
Boston MA 2000 May 31     A witness reports that while standing on Summer St. near the corner of Devonshire St. in downtown Boston, looking southeast down Summer Street, when he saw an object traverse the space where the sky was visible between the buildings. The object had the shape of a comet or large meteorite, with a “head” about 1/2 lunar diameter and a “tail” about 3 lunar diameters in size. It passed at a high rate of speed from right to left, in a generally North or Northeast direction, also moving downward at about a 30 degree angle relative to the horizon. It was visible to him for less than a second. What made it highly unusual to him was its color. It appeared to be a consistent shade of green, perhaps yellow green, bright, almost of a florescent quality. The surface of both the object and its tail appeared mottled, broken up by dark patches between the green. It had the appearance of something colored by a florescent pen on an animation gel, with no variation in color aside from the mottled appearance. The mottling and the detail of the object’s tail appeared to be changing slightly as it quickly passed, convincing him it was no reflection. It did appear to be traveling beneath the cloud cover, indicating a fairly low altitude. Under that cloud cover, he had clear visibility well beyond the range of the object, which he would guess to be 1/2 to 1 mile away. - NUFORC
Newton NH 2000 May 26     A witness reported seeing a weird bright solid light, not blinking like a plane and had no sound.  It made  jerky movements and it would stop for about 30 sec. and then keep moving. It would go up a little and move and finally went out of sight. - NUFORC
Braintree MA 2000 May 6     A person witnessed a very bright light approach -- much brighter than a star. It took approx. 8 - 10 minutes for object to reach his location and only noise he heard  sounded like a soft, gentle whirrrrr. The witness stated that it was a very bright, single light -- not aircraft landing lights. - NUFORC
Newton MA 2000 May 3      A witness reports sitting on the front porch and all of a sudden there was a huge bright flash of blinding white light which seemed to eminate from the northeast, the sky was clear, not a cloud in the sky, after it happened, his neighbor came out of his house and told him that Raytheon had lost some of their power and that he was called into work. There must have been others who witnessed this, the light was everywhere, it seemed to envelope the whole area, his eyes felt like they do when someone flashes a camera in your face, it was that bright if not brighter, for a moment he thought they had been nuked or something. His neighbors car alarm didn't work when he went to get into his car, he thought that was pretty strange. - NUFORC
Franklin MA 2000 April 30

A witness reported seeing a black diamond shaped object with two white circles in the center and red blinking lights rotating around those white lights. Object had a sharp silverish outline. It was going from SW to NE. First seen from about 75 degrees above the horizon and watched for about ten minutes as it traveled away to about 10 degrees above the horizon. At that point it appeared as a twinkling star would. - NUFORC

Rockport MA 2000 April 20     Two witnesses reported seeing an oval shaped craft hovering in the very same spot. It had a consistent white light on top, and alternating red, yellow and green lights on the bottom. It was completely stationary, yet the lights were glistening at a terrific pace. It made no noise. They went inside to get a cell phone to call the police, and when they came back outside, it was gone. - NUFORC
Newfields NH 2000 April 14     At approximately 3:05 am a witness reports looking up at the stars and noticing a moving object, thought it was a commercial aircraft at first, then thought it might be a star due to it's brightness and size. The size of the object was twice the size of a star and was moving magnetic north.  The witness estimated the object's elevation at approx. 30,000 ft.  and noticed it was moving at an incredible rate of speed estimated in excess of mach 5.  There was no sort of sound trail.  The witness states it was NOT a shooting star as the time rate was far to long and wonders if it might have been a satellite. - NUFORC
Charlestown RI 2000 March 31    At around 5:05 am two witnesses were driving down coastal Rte 1 when at the Westerly/Charlestown border they saw a softly glowing orange object directly in front of them.  They were traveling due east. They watched it steadily for ten minutes.  When they first saw it, it was the size of a aspirin at arm's length.  The road was winding at times and the object would  disappear behind pine trees.  When the road would turn back due east it  would appear again in the exact same spot. It was totally motionless and stationary in the sky. They watched it until the Perryville turnoff came up. By this time it was the size of a quarter at arm's length. Just before they turned off a vertical gray bar appeared at the front of the object and immediately moved to the rear. When this happened the object faded, came back and then disappeared.  The object tilted about a 10 degree angle to the horizon front to back and about 20 to 25 degrees above the horizon.  The sky was clear with no other objects such as airplanes or balloons were in view. There was a solid bank of low clouds on the horizon up to about 5 degrees. The object was well above the cloud bank. They estimated that they covered about 10 miles from beginning to end of the sighting and also figured that the object would be in the vicinity of East Matunuck and Point Judith Pond. This is very close to the ocean. - NUFORC

Providence RI 2000 March 23     A witness reports that while watching the stars in the area of the Big Dipper, one star blinked then the witness saw a black rectangular object with dull orange lights coming from the East.  After approximately 5 seconds it banked to the North passing in front of the stars of the Big Dipper.  The witness reports watching it through a telescope for about 20 seconds.  Right before it went out of sight it made a big increase in speed. - NUFORC
Pembroke MA 2000 March 18     A former police officer reports that he noticed a bright pulsating white light in the western horizon, about 30-40 degrees up / 9:30-10:00 position. Thought it was a plane, but it wasn't moving. It just stayed there. Looked at it thru binoculars and saw the different lights, pulsating white, red, green and blue. Also saw faint red flashes intermittent at different distances, still in close proximity, but didn't see them when not looking thru binoculars.  This didn't seem to be a star/planet/nebula as the binoculars are not that powerful(10X50). When he looked at the stars he had to refocus to see them clearly and vise versa. The weather was crystal clear/full moon. Does not think this was a plane. He's watched them for many years and knows when a plane at high altitude is coming straight towards you it seems not to be moving for a long time but this was definitely different. - NUFORC
Charlestown RI 2000 February 28     Two witnesses reported that they had spotted a strange light hovering over some turf fields next to the Chario High School.  They called a friend and the three of them headed for the area of the sighting. Upon arriving, they spotted the light hovering above the nuclear submarine base at Groton,CT. The light was very bright and unchanging. The light then moved up and down. It then bounced to the left and bounced back to the right. They watched it for approximately 5 minutes then it faded and disappeared. - NUFORC
Bristol VT 2000 February 9     A witness reports looking straight up and seeing something moving to the Northeast.  It was a very large triangular blotch of light, but it was hard for the witness to say if it was a fixed shape, more like a luminous cloud with a definite shape.  It was brighter at the edges but stars could be seen faintly through the object, but it did dim the background.  It seemed way up in the sky, and was huge.  The witness continued to watch, using low power binoculars. The witness followed the path of the object to the horizon. The object went from its original shape to a series of four objects in a straight line, two by two.  I have observed the triangular weather satellite formation that occasionally passes overhead, and have always enjoyed looking for satellites. This was not a standard satellite. I certainly do not have any idea what it was. - NUFORC
Canton MA 2000 February 8     A witness reported that he was traveling south on I-95 in Canton when he saw a bright light off to the west of his location, he traveled for 3 miles watching the light At first he thought it must be a plane and kept his eye on it, after 2 miles something told him to pull over into the breakdown lane to watch, as it passed overhead just in front of his truck he noticed that the lights were not setup like a planes. There were 10 lights all which were yellow/white in color 2 of the 10 lights were strobe lights color blue at the rear middle of the craft, lights were located on the 3 corners and located at the bottom middle of the craft 2 in the front side by side and 3 at the bottom middle side by side across the back. He rolled down the window and stuck his head out to look closer and heard not a sound and this craft was at a height that when he extended his arm out at the craft his hand just covered it, a jet plane at this height would have been loud but no noise. It traveled about 10 miles in about 2 minutes from Rte 1A in Walpole to Rte 138 in Stoughton. - NUFORC
Milton MA 2000 January 5      A person reported that he noticed a very bright light in the western sky at 5 AM while taking in the morning paper. At first, he thought it might be a star, but it moved, then disappeared behind the roof line of the neighbor's house, reappeared and continued on a south westerly to north easterly course. It appeared to be about 2 miles high with very bright white lights in the front and three red lights in the rear and with other bright lights on the side. It moved steadily, but was not in the normal air traffic pattern for the Boston area approach or departure.  He called the FAA in Nashua N.H., to ask if they had any aircraft to report in the area at 5 AM and they said no. - NUFORC

Canton MA 1999 December 20     Witnesses report that they drove through Stoughton after taking the exit 19B to Rte. 138 enroute to Canton, they saw a bright round luminous object in the sky. This object was much bigger than any star they have seen and the beam of light coming from it was a straight and round, long and thick beam. Then after about what seemed a minute, the object suddenly disappeared from the sky.  About 2 minutes later they witnessed 4 planes take v-formation in the sky and they appeared to be searching for something. As they drove down 138, they again saw this object. This time it appeared to be bigger, perhaps closer and they were able to see the exhaust area that the beams came from. The exhaust area looked like 5 round holes, brightly lit. As they witnessed this object for the 2nd time, they both felt extremely frightened.  Just then the object disappeared, shortly thereafter, the 4 planes took formation. On the way back from Canton,  they again seen the object, it appeared as it did earlier with the beam of light but now it sort of had a trailing light also. As they watched, a young man approached and looked into the sky. He yelled to them that he could see it also. Just then, it disappeared and sure enough, here comes the 4 planes in formation.  After approximately, 40 minutes, while driving on Rte. 24 towards Brockton, they witnessed the object again. This time it seemed very brief, but once again the planes came in formation. - NUFORC

At about 1:30 am, their cable went out, as did the rest of the electricity in the house. Then there appeared an eerie glow from the open door. The glow was a soft green/white, sort of a muted color. At this time the person did not know what to do, and thought some friends were trying to play a practical joke.  Although the person did not know what the glow was, moved out of their chair and slowly towards the door. As the person swung their head around the frame of the door, the light disappeared. The person noticed that the electrical power had been returned to the house, because the lights in the room the person had been in, turned on again. the cable box said the time was now 2:32 (am). when the person noticed this, the person thought that maybe it had been a problem with the returning of power to the home. The person went to sit down in the same chair and realized that it had been moved. The person got nervous and moved quickly to the stairs (going up), when reaching the bedroom (in search of a flashlight) noticed the clock said that the current time was 2:33 (am), the clocks in the next room, also had the same time. The person ran back to the kitchen, in which the exit to the house was, and noticed that the person received several messages, including one with their boss asking why the person hadn't come to work that day. The date was 9/9/99, The person had no recollection of where he had been for the previous day and in about hour. This light was approx. 3 times as bright as the stars and approx. 30 degrees above the horizon (it appeared much lower in the sky than the stars). It moved very slowly (from left to right). He observed it through his binoculars part of the time. The light appeared more rounded on the left side and slightly jagged on the right. Unfortunately he could only observe it for a few minutes. Wilmington MA 1999 September 13     Witnesses report seeing a star but it was at 11:30 in the morning. The sun was shining bright and there were no clouds in the area. The object was about 45-50 degrees in the eastern sky and did not move. They looked to see if they could see other stars but could not. After watching it for about 15 minutes they noticed that at about one half inch and at 7:00 to the object there would be a flash about every minute or so. The object looked to be very high in the sky like it could be a star. They watched some jets fly through the sky and they did not seem to be even close to it. The jets looked very small to their eyes and ones that looked larger and closer left condensation trails behind them. They all left and went back to work and would periodically look to see if it was still there. In a two hour period the object seemed to get more dull. They think it was due to the sun moving toward the west. In that time the object moved a total of 2-3 inches the the north, maybe due to the rotation of the earth. They last saw it at around 2:00 when they had to leave the building and go to another location. When they got there they looked to see if they could see it but there were clouds in the sky blocking the view. - NUFORC

It was a very clear night and plenty of other stars visible. It completely faded away and not into the horizon, was still relatively overhead. At same instant it disappeared another light not as bright was noticed tracking in the same direction on a different track at a slightly higher speed. Springfield MA 1999 July 14     A person reports seeing two very bright white strobes in the sky.  He stopped to watch them and noticed that instead of being next to each other (as in wingtip strobes) they were trailing.  The appearance of the strobes was such that they appeared to be at a fairly low altitude.  There were no other lights (as in tail or belly beacons, navigation lights, or anti-collision lights).   As the witness looked north the lights moved in a slightly curving path from roughly NW to NE.  They moved at a fairly slow pace.  The lights appeared to be at low altitude so he tried to listen for some kind of noise.  It was absolutely silent.  He has been involved in aviation his entire life, and has never seen anything like this before.  The sighting lasted about 2 to 3 minutes. - NUFORC

Ashland ME 1999 June 27     A witness reports standing outside and seeing a light in the distance that was very far away headed in a NE direction. It was moving very slowly.  At first he thought it was a plane, but when it got closer he wasn't sure.  He got his binoculars and looked, but it didn't look like a plane.   After about a minute of watching it with the binoculars, it suddenly disappeared.   He quickly put down the binoculars and saw that it had quickly picked up speed and was now almost out of view.  The craft was a flying triangle.  It had seven lights on it that he could see.  It was flying at about normal altitude for a plane.   The lights were a light blue color.  When the craft made its rapid speed increase, the lights became red.  There was only the one object and all it did was fly in a straight line.  When he first saw it, it was moving very slowly. Manchester NH 1999 June 8     A man and his family report seeing a bright green rectangle of light behind the clouds.  He watched it for a few minutes then saw other bright green streaks of light run parallel to it.  After about 4 minutes the rectangle lost its "width" but it was getting longer.  He ran in the house to get his wife and son.  As they got outside it was still there.   They watched it together for over an hour.  Its green light definitely "pulsed" & seemed to do a few "chase" patterns.  They saw some white flashes of light come out from the side of it. (They called channel 9, the local TV station but were told they were too busy.)  At times the light would seem long and narrow, sometimes whole, sometimes with a "dark" or unlit section in the middle.  Other times it seemed wider and the light more
concentrated in a rectangular shape.  Another very strange thing was that it would suddenly "turn off", then on again.  It was partly to mostly cloudy during this time, but its light was definitely visible through the clouds.  Just before they went to bed they looked out the window & it was still there, but had gone from green to blue. -

Warwick RI 1998 September 26     A person reported that upon listening to the radio and hearing about reports of unidentified lights in the sky they went out and saw a bright light that appeared to be a comet.  They then looked above their roof to see if there were any other objects near it and saw what at first they thought was another comet.  Using binoculars they zoomed in and saw 5 white circles with steady non blinking lights.   The objects did not move and all the circles were the same size. The circles were much smaller and farther away than the other object to the right. The circles were arranged one behind another equally spaced in an arrangement that looked like a hook. They were pretty convinced this was a comet because as soon as they looked at it one circle in the middle had a little haze around it.  But that would not explain how the much bigger circle and much closer circle did not have haze around it also. They went inside for about 15-20 minutes then went back out to see if the objects moved.  They zoomed in on both objects again and their shape did not change and they did not move. They went back inside again.  They assumed the objects may have stayed out there all night until the early morning.  They thought it was a comet, but now think otherwise. - NUFORC

After Nolette called the Coast Guard he received calls from more than fifteen people asking what the lights over the water were. Other calls to the Coast Guard came from Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Wells, Ogunquit and Old Orchard Beach. A boat was sent out at 9:20 p.m. to look for the source, but the lights were not seen again.-

Loring AFB ME 1975 October 27     On 10/27/75 security personnel spotted an unknown aircraft entering the restricted zone around the nuclear weapons storage area. The aircraft was also observed on radar from the tower. Multiple attempts were made to contact the aircraft on all military and civilian communication bands, with no results. The craft came to within 300 yards of the nuclear storage area at an altitude of 150 feet. The base went on major alert status. Tower radar tracked the object as it circled ten miles east-northeast of the base for forty minutes before suddenly disappearing. Ground observers from the 42nd Security Police said it vanished in the direction of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada. The base remained on high alert all night. On 10/28/75, the next night, the object returned.  It was seen to have an amber light and a white flashing light. At one point it appeared 150 feet over the end of a runway, then shut off its lights and re-appeared over the weapons storage area. Here it was seen at close range by a B-52 bomber crew that was working out of a launch truck.  They described it as looking like a stretched out red and orange football, about four car lengths long with no doors or windows visible. It vanished when Security Police arrived. On 10/29/75, a National Guard helicopter was enlisted to help. There were representatives of the Canadian military participating as well, so that the chase could cross the Canadian border if necessary. Ground personnel began seeing the object and directing the helicopter by radio. The object was not showing on radar this night, so visual direction was necessary. The helicopter would go to the location directed and turn on its spotlights, but was never able to see anything even though ground personnel would tell them that the object was only 100 feet from them.
