April 30 | 1997 | Westboro MA | Two witnesses were driving together when they noticed a large cornfield that had a strange object in it. It looked just like a light tower with a vertical galvanized metal pole in the center and bright strobe type lights on either side. When they slowed the car, they noticed it was indeed moving. It started to get closer to the car so they sped off. When they got to the next intersection they looked ahead of them and the object was now across the street in front of them. They drove to the police station and explained to the dispatcher what they had just witnessed. The dispatcher called out to a couple of cars in the area, but they hadn't reported seeing anything. The police thought they had seen a cellular phone tower that had just gone up recently, but they tried to explain to them that towers don't move. An officer escorted them out to where the new cellular phone tower was put up, however it wasn't what they had seen. - NUFORC |

green light definitely "pulsed" & seemed to do a few "chase"
patterns. They saw some white flashes of light come out from the side of it. (They
called channel 9, the local TV station but were told they were too busy.) At times
the light would seem long and narrow, sometimes whole, sometimes with a "dark"
or unlit section in the middle. Other times it seemed wider and the light more concentrated in a rectangular shape. Another very strange thing was that it would suddenly "turn off", then on again. It was partly to mostly cloudy during this time, but its light was definitely visible through the clouds. July 15 | 1984 | NW of Detroit ME | A couple were on their way to Pittsfield for dinner. After travelling about a mile they rounded a bend and the woman, who was driving, was the first to see a bright yellowish-orange light. Suddenly the light made a perfectly vertical drop in mid-air. They sped up to get ahead of the object, but the light dropped lower again, and was now dead center above the car windshield. The woman stopped and slammed the car into reverse. After backing up about 50 feet they saw that the object was alongside of them on the left side of the car and about 150 off the ground. The glow had subsided, and in the evening twilight it appeared grayish in color, triangular shaped, and larger than a 747 aircraft. It had 4 red lights and 1 or 2 brighter white lights. It made no sound. The man opened his door to see if it was possible to make a 180-degree turn, and he told her to back into the driveway of a farmhouse. The object was now almost directly above them at an approximate altitude of 100 feet. He observed that when they stopped the UFO stopped, and when they moved the UFO moved! It became apparent that "it" did not want to let them go. The man got out of the car and started to run toward the farmhouse. The woman called to him that another car was coming down the road. The UFO now began to move away slightly, traveling in a northeasterly direction for a distance of a few hundred feet when it suddenly vanished right before their eyes. The man later expressed wonderment that such a large object could suddenly disappear in such an inexplicable manner. They estimated that the total incident took about two minutes to transpire. - (MUFON UFO Journal, October 1984, pp. 14-15) |

July 18 | 1990 | New Hartford CT | A woman was lying awake in bed when she noticed bright flashing lights over her backyard. She went to the window and witnessed a small domed disc hovering 100 feet away and descending over the corner of the lawn. The object maneuvered a few seconds without actually touching down. She noted that it had flashing red, yellow, and white lights around its bottom rim. It then accelerated and was out of sight behind some trees in a second. Two days later a hired worker asked her about some strange material on the grass. She realized it was in the area of the sighting. After eliminating the lawn care company as responsible for the oily residue on the grass, she decided to report the incident. - (MUFON UFO Journal, December 1990, p. 19.) |

July 22 | 1989 | Trenton ME | A pilot and his passenger took off in a Beechcraft Bonanza from the Bar Harbor-Trenton airport. They spotted a huge metallic disc, shining like polished aluminum, at the 9 o'clock position. It was at the same altitude as their plane--approximately 5100-5200 feet. The object suddenly moved dead ahead to the 12 o'clock position and it took on a reddish or rose color. Not very enthusiastic about continuing on with this thing in front of them, they turned back for the Bar Harbor-Trenton airport. The Aerial Direction Finder was working at the time but the DME (Distance Measuring Equipment) was not receiving. It had never before given them a problem, and 3-4 minutes after the object disappeared the DME came back on. When they landed they discovered that there had been power surges and outages on the ground, and they recalled that when they last observed the object it was headed in the direction of the Maine Yankee Nuclear Power plant in Wiscasset. However, a spokesman for the Bangor HydroElectric Company later reported that an outage was caused by three limbs falling over a transmission line when a resident cut down a tree. - (MUFON UFO Journal, November 1989, p. 19). |

August 31 | 1997 | West Dennis MA | Three witnesses report they were looking for satellites in the night sky and were facing west on a clear night. They watched three or four satellites pass almost directly over head when one of them indicated they spotted another. They raised their binoculars and noticed not one but three oblong or oval objects, each appearing blurred or out of focus. All three were in formation, one directly behind the leader, the third above and a bit behind the second one. As the three objects moved together across the stars, the witnesses could see stars between the objects, indicating it was in fact three objects and not one. The objects appeared to be moving at approximately the same rate as a passing satellite. September 26 | 1998 | Warwick RI | A person reported that upon listening to the radio and hearing about reports of unidentified lights in the sky they went out and saw a bright light that appeared to be a comet. They then looked above their roof to see if there were any other objects near it and saw what at first they thought was another comet. Using binoculars they zoomed in and saw 5 white circles with steady non blinking lights. The objects did not move and all the circles were the same size. The circles were much smaller and farther away than the other object to the right. The circles were arranged one behind another equally spaced in an arrangement that looked like a hook. They were pretty convinced this was a comet because as soon as they looked at it one circle in the middle had a little haze around it. But that would not explain how the much bigger circle and much closer circle did not have haze around it also. They went inside for about 15-20 minutes then went back out to see if the objects moved. October 27 | 1975 | Loring AFB ME | On 10/27/75 security personnel spotted an unknown aircraft entering the restricted zone around the nuclear weapons storage area. The aircraft was also observed on radar from the tower. Multiple attempts were made to contact the aircraft on all military and civilian communication bands, with no results. The craft came to within 300 yards of the nuclear storage area at an altitude of 150 feet. The base went on major alert status. Tower radar tracked the object as it circled ten miles east-northeast of the base for forty minutes before suddenly disappearing. Ground observers from the 42nd Security Police said it vanished in the direction of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada. The base remained on high alert all night. On 10/28/75, the next night, the object returned. It was seen to have an amber light and a white flashing light. At one point it appeared 150 feet over the end of a runway, then shut off its lights and re-appeared over the weapons storage area. Here it was seen at close range by a B-52 bomber crew that was working out of a launch truck. They described it as looking like a stretched out red and orange football, about four car lengths long with no doors or windows visible. It vanished when Security Police arrived. On 10/29/75, a National Guard helicopter was enlisted to help. There were representatives of the Canadian military participating as well, so that the chase could cross the Canadian border if necessary. Ground personnel began seeing the object and directing the helicopter by radio. The object was not showing on radar this night, so visual direction was necessary. The helicopter would go to the location directed and turn on its spotlights, but was never able to see anything even though ground personnel would tell them that the object was only 100 feet from them. |
