Thunderbolts: Resident Engineer

Ogre

First appearance: X-Men#28(1966)

The Ogre is an old obscure X-men Super villain and was the Thunderbolts mysterious benefactor that was hiding in the Thunderbolts base and had been fixing stuff in their base for them in a running plot that has now been completed. He was an operative of a secret cabal called Factor Three that fought the X-men. The Ogre has never been a terribly assertive person so he's been in the base the Thunderbolts now use for a long time. Hawkeye offered him a place with the Thunderbolts as their resident engineer near the end of Thunderbolts #33. Ogre accepts and finally feels useful and is glad he's finally going to belong.

Everything is well until Ogre retreats to the lower levels where he was to get his stuff only to get knocked unconscious by Techno. In one of the deepest sub-basements in the complex Techno puts Ogre in cryogenic storage. Techno takes a small cell-sample from Ogre and has his onboard computers change his whole into that resembling Ogre.

After Techno was defeated by Scourge and died nobly by saving Jolt's life, Ogre also awakens from his containment chamber. Ogre would have killed Techno if he had not been already deactivated for exposing his home, impersonating him, and risking the discovery of his bio chamber. With S.h.i.e.l.d. now securing the Thunderbolts base Ogre's responsibilities outweight his desire to belong and be part of a family. He would have been happy to help the Thunderbolts before but now he has more important concerns. Instead of escaping and needlessly killing many S.h.i.e.l.d. agents Ogre retreats further into the Thunderbolts Headquarters through the use of a tesseract portal so no one will be able to find him again. When Hawkeye contacts Ogre for help, he wants nothing to do with the Thunderbolts since he is in hiding and doesn't want to reveal his location.
