Pavis Campaign Characters

These are the characters currently in play:

  • The Pavis Initiate

Mizra is the youngest member of the party, being only 16 years old, yet is probably the most dedicated to his cause. He is the son of a healer who ran away from home in search of adventure, and found himself captured by the history of the city and its patron deity.

As it was he who was first sent away from his work building Zebra pens by the Pavis priests to recruit an exploration team, he believes himself to be something of a leader, Though his youthful enthusiasm makes up for his lack of experience.

  • The Vingan

Senola is the daughter of Sartarite farmers who emigrated here before the Lunar occupation. Growing up in a tenement in Oldtown, she had plenty of opportunity to watch adventurers passing through the People's Gate into the Rubble, sometimes returning richer, more often not. She could also see the Temple of Humakt from her apartment, and here its initiates drilling through the night.

In this air of adventure, she longed to take part. Casting around for a more suitable, sensible cult for an adventuress, she joined that of Vinga. She also trained under the Lunar swordmistress Serena Jonglure in order to learn swordplay with weapons that would not weigh her down. Though she has not been adventuring long, she has already mastered the art of redirecting a fight away from herself.

  • The Shaman

Mira was born of the Oasis People, but to them was obviously touched by something else; she is seven feet tall, incredibly beautiful, very intelligent and rich in magical power. Her people sent her away for fear that her magical talent be wasted, for she would make a valuable slave to any number of enemies.

She met up with a Telmori, Corum Wolfclaw, and together they travelled to Pavis: him to purge himself at the holy river, and her to make full use of her beauty and power. However, upon venturing into the Rubble, Corum was killed by a Broo shaman, and Mira is left without a trusted companion.

  • The Orlanthi Noble

Seth is one of the last of his clan, whose lands in Sartar have been taken by the Lunar invaders. He and his uncle had travelled to Pavis to try to raise a body of men, and they joined the Pavis group in the hope of plundering the riches of the rubble, but the uncle has since mysteriously vanished, leaving Seth alone in a Strange and dangerous city.

  • The River Girl

Ula the Fisher is an initiate of Zola Fel. She is highly regarded by her temple since she completed a holy quest - returning a cult relic from an abandoned temple at the mouth of the river - where she lost an arm. Unfortunately, whilst recuperating, she managed to incur the disfavour of a particular priest. This situation led her to seek work that would take her away from the temple for a while, and so she was befriended by Seth.

  • The Humakti

Huillam Montac was also brought into the party by Seth, who could see that having a swordbrother as a companion in the Rubble could be a very good idea. He is also a native; Huillam is the son of a hunter from the Real City, the only original part of Old Pavis still intact. He grew up roaming Manside and Big Grazing, and so is familiar with the numerous dangers of the ruins.

Still to come:

  • The Entertainer

Corbis, ex Pavis street urchin, grew up on the streets of the city as part of the gang known as "Nobby's Nippers". He used to spend his evenings lifting purses and scrounging for dropped coins in the inns and taverns, and there he was exposed to a wide range of musical styles, songs and dances, both native and foreign. When he was too big for the gang he fell in with a local touring troupe of entertainers, and travelled the across Pavis county from village to village. It was the gypsy life that encouraged him to join the cult of Donandar, god of Music and Dance.

He resettled in Badside in 1616, and made a living performing for visiting nomads. One day he woke up in the Chalana Arroy temple, with no recollection of how he got there. Occasionally he has nightmares which he cannot recall when awake, but during which he raves about "black fangs". He is working off his healing bill by guarding one of the healers, Shereama Whiteclaw.

  • The Healer

Shereama Whiteclaw, Chalana Arroy Morocanth, who has been assign ed to "look after" the other PCs. She regards her human companions more as intelligent pets, that need to be looked after. After all, humans are quite fragile and tend to break easily, and they are always getting themselves into potentially harmful situations. It is Shereama's duty to point out to them at all times how dangerous their ventures are, and to suggest safer ways of going about their business.

  • The Sun Domer

Hafna, a young Yelmalian from Suntown sees joining a party with a Humakti and a Vingan in it as an opportunity to prove the moral and military superiority of his cult and to show those orlanthi women how they should really behave in a civilised society. He also sees the possibilities of promotion through improving the standing of his cult in the eyes of other temples.

  • The Agimori

Kiraani Running Lizard, son of an Agimori Chief is seeking the ultimate spear so he can take it back to his tribe, and redress the shame of his personal failure at the Battle of Moonbroth. He was rescued from a slow death at the hand of Elves by Teela Swift, and began travelling with her to repay this debt, but they became friends after a while and have continued to travel together.

  • The Garhounder

Teela Swift, Issaries Goldentongue and follower of Mastakos, is a member of the powerful Garhound Clan from Pavis County. Her passion is maps, and she travels the roads of Prax in search of ancient and obscure sources. She also acts as a courier for her family, and so has seen much of Pavis and Sun Dome Counties.
