At the start of the campaign, the first few PC's (Seth (and his uncle), Mizra and Senola) met when they were "randomly" (Cunning Plot Device) arrested as part of the Lunar Army's purge of undesirables in the city. Two of the PC's (Seth and Mizra) at that time were interested in gathering a group of individuals to perform a specified task. It so happened that they eventually agreed that it was a good idea to form a party to achieve their various ends.
The party were sent to scout out a suspected holy site of Pavis that had just come to light through the discovery of an old document dating back to the troll occupation. The eventually found the site, after a strange encounter with some Dwarves and a fight with a Lunar patrol. At the site, they discovered a Flintnail Door inscribed with various runes, and an inscription that they could not read. They drew a copy of the door design, and returned to the Temple to report their find.
After translation of the inscription, they set out to decipher the runes and to try to discover what was behind the door. Mizra recruited two new members; Mira the Shaman, and her Telmori companion, Corum Wolfclaw. Seth recruited two others; Ula the Fisher and Huillam Montac, arranging to meet them later in the rubble, to avoid attracting attention.
Having made their preparations, they set out back across the Rubble to the door site.
Unfortunately, the first half of the group; Mizra, Corum, Senola and Mira ran into what appeared to be a running battle between one of the Rubble gangs and a group of Broos. The Broos got sidetracked and came after the Pavis party instead. At the end of this encounter, the Telmori was dead, and both Mizra and Mira had received crippling injuries to their legs. Senola dragged them to a nearby ruin and set up a Warding spell around them, before burning the corpses and going to search for the rest of the party and help.
Seth, Huillam and Ula, who were only an hour behind the others, noticed the smoke from the burning bodies (and the circling carrion eaters) and went to investigate. They found Corum's body, and then Senola and the rest of the party. They decided it would be best to see to the wounded as best they could and move on. So, with legs splinted, Mira and Mizra were mounted upon Seth and Huillam's Zebras, and they continued on their mission.
When they came to the door, they noticed that it had been swept clean of dirt and that there were many antelope hoofprints around the area. They decided to try to resolve the puzzle of the door as quickly as possible, and after a couple of hours of brainwork, they figured out how to open it safely.
Once the door was open, they tried to see into the pitch black interior (not easy, they were trying to look through a Shade), and then decided to enter. Huillam went first, and was attacked by the Shade, but took no damage. They backed out, and one of the spirits guarding the tomb materialised (having sensed the Pavis initiate) and addressed the party. However, he spoke in Old Pavic, which no-one could understand. It appeared that it was OK to pass through the door, so the whole group entered.
After they had investigated the rooms, they found that they had company. The spirits all suddenly corporated and flew through the entrance, Seth followed, and saw a party of Lunar Antelope Riders, trying to gain access, but being attacked by the spirits. Some of the unengaged Antelope Riders saw Seth before he managed to duck out of the way, and chased him back through the door.
The able-bodied members of the party managed to hold ground at the stairwell. Out of the six Antelope Troopers that came through the door, three were killed, one maimed, one surrendered, and the other ran away. The party only lost Senola to a Lunar spell, and gained a few more bruises and scars.
When thedust had settled, they were called to truce by the leader of the Lunar party, Hasphar Pharades. He explained to them that his mission, as head of the Lunar Survey Team acting on orders of Governer Sor-Eeel, was to explore and research relics uncovered in the Rubble. Unfortunately, as the adventurer's party had chosen to fight the Lunars, he was going to have to confiscate the contents of this shrine. But he wouldn't kill the Pavis party, he would merely render them unable to resist his team's work.
So saying, his lieutenants cast "madness" on Seth, Huillam and Ula (though only Huillam was seriously affected by this). The Lunars then removed all of the adventurers weapons before stripping the shrine and leaving them in the Rubble unarmed. As the party began to cautiously pick it's way back to the city, they had the good fortune to run into a party out of the Chalana Arroy Temple, on it's way to the Garden.
The CA Priest assigned one of his Initiates to the party (Shereama Whiteclaw - a Morocanth) along with an additional Guard (Corbis, a dodgy Street Entertainer working off his healing bill). Oncew healed, they began again and surprisingly they managed to return to the city without trouble. Mizra reported what happened to the Pavis Temple; Shereama took Corbis and Huillam to the Chalana Arroy, after which Senola and Mira accompanied Huillam to the Humakt Temple; Seth went to restart the search for his uncle; Ula returned to the Zola Fel Temple.
