Here's one eyewitness account:
From: Gabe
To: Marita
I think I saw one of your escapees. He was a dead ringer for Krycek, and I caught him
breaking into my house through the back door. He picked the lock like he had lots of practice,
but I guess he didn't expect anyone would still be up at three-thirty in the morning. I have a
b-b gun that looks like a 45, and in the dark, even he couldn't tell the difference. I told him
to give me his gun, and I guess he has a different personality than the original, because he
handed it to me almost gratefully. He was calling himself Maksim Kolya, and I didn't let on
that I recognised him for what he was.
What he turned out to be, was a pretty nice guy. He's been on the run for a long time,
and finding someone who didn't want him dead or captured seemed to be a relief. He had two
normal arms, but had adopted the traditional black leather jacket and short hair. That first
night, I let him use the shower, and he used my towel.
Max lives out of a dark blue duffel bag, which holds (that I saw) ammunition, a change of
clothes, a copy of 'Polar Star', a diary, and a small jar of toothpicks. He never explained the
latter, and I never once saw him use one. He came out into the living room in the jaens he'd
had on earlier (having forgotten the duffel bag, and I noticed that he had a tatoo on his left
arm, right about where the original Krycek got his arm carved off. It reminded me of a
holocause survivor's tatoo, in that it was composed of unadorned block numbers, and looked
institutional. The number was 155. He picked up his bag, then freaked a little when he
realized I was in the room. We said a few words, and he went back in the bathroom to change,
carefully and subtly keeping the tatoo out of my line of sight.
He slept on my couch that weekend, and he didn't leave the house. He wouldn't say who was
after him, but I could tell that he was terrified. It's strange to see somebody who looks like
Alex Krycek jump at the slamming of a door. Max liked chinese takeout, 'The Shawshank
Redemption', and 'Wild Things'. I saw him writing in his diary once, and he was using cyrillic
letters... Russian. I think he knew I couldn't read it. He left hurridly on monday night after
recieving a phone call, and though we parted as friends, I don't think he'll be back. That was
last week, so he's long gone by now.
One question: what the hell did his owner do to him???
