My Discovery
"My Discovery"
She'd dance upon my garden
On every rose alight
Peer into the center
Then swiftly take to flight
Oh, yes, indeed I saw her
As she rose into the sky
Small and bright that I
Thought her a firefly
Her warm luminous glow
As she flit from flower to flower
Singing angel songs
Soft at this late hour
When from a shadowed tree
She fell into my hand
Tiny glow-worm! thought I
Oh this is something grand
But when I peeked inside
And upon closer inspection
I found that what I saw
Defied all wild conception
Her little hands, long legs
Gossamer wings airy
Those gentle eyes glowed warm
As I held that small, sweet fairy.
