(This is the personal journal of Bryan Stone, leader of Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger for May 12, 1998:
While exploring up close the world of the twentieth century I came upon what I thought was an animatronic robot. It turned out that this kind of institution was a mainstay. It also turns out that Laura liked to do it and enlisted Amy's help with it... Much to her dismay. Namrocks took advances of the girls letting down their defenses and froze them permanently. It was up to us remaining Rangers to fight Beta Stopper and free Amy and Laura from the virus. Laura still enjoys being a still, but as for the rest of us...)
(The scene: A disclosed URL in Cyberspace. The Namrocks are watching as their newest "special weapon" is slowly coming to fruition after making use of the artifacts found earlier. Namrock addresses the others while Balzacs do the dirty work.)
Namrock: Earth. Fire. Air and water. Users use these resources to control their cause, and now, so shall we.
Chouzo: Like to know how, boss...
Galevan: Infidel! You speak only when you are spoken to!
Namrock: We will extract energy sources from these four elements and, combined with my own technology, this new weapons will rise from the cyber grave it is permanently in. When do we start?
Rhexus: Immediately, sire. I have already found a site of energy from the earth.
Namrock: You have... Then find it... infect it... retrieve it... and if anyone gets in your way, terminate them!
(Cut to the attic, where Scottie is strangely enjoying the advancement of pop culture as we know it.)
Voice from Scottie's Computer: "Oh my God! They killed Kenny! You bastards!"
Scottie: This is classic! (laughing his head off while eating popcorn. Bryan walks in.)
Bryan: Hey. I've been trying to monitor Namrock activity within the Net, but I couldn't... (looks at Scottie's computer) And now I know why...
Scottie: It's not what it looks like.
Bryan: Yeah it is. Why are you using the Skystation's satellite to download bootlegs of South Park?
Scottie: 'Cause they didn't have translated bootlegs of Dragon Ball Z?
Bryan: Richard, this is serious! How can we expect to track the Namrock if you're watching South Park?
Scottie: (hanging his head in shame) Sorry, dude.
Bryan: (smiling sternly) It's the only way you'll learn. Now help me get out of here.
(The two start shutting down the program, making the computer able to receive other satellite signals. Meanwhile, the phone rings. Scottie answers it. It is Jon Scott, Scottie's father.)
Jon: Hello? Scottie?
Scottie: Hey, Dad. When are you going to come home? Are you bringing dinner?
Jon: I should be home soon, son. I'm bringing your favorite, supreme pizza.
Scottie: Sweet! (laughing)
Bryan: Scottie... I think you should see this.
(He shows a gridded map of Tradewinds with a virus detection offshore in the precise perimeter of the oil rig that Mr. Scott is working on for Stone Labs.)
Scottie: Dad... (worried) Whatever you do... Be careful.
Jon: I will. (hangs up)
Scottie: You think we should go check out that rig?
Bryan: We better. I'll meet up with you. I have to send the message to the others. Besides, he's your father.
Scottie: Yeah, I know. That's why I'm doing this. (takes stance) Neptune File, Download!
(He transforms and takes the Blue Server Cycle to the pier. He takes to the air in aerial mode, before the bike goes back to Cyberspace.)
BlueNeptune: (Looking at his Cyber Loader Map) This is like a maze of pipes. I'm reading some positive life energy and one giant negative one. (dodges a blast out of nowhere)
Jon: (Running) BlueNeptune! You've got to get out of here. One of the tanks has blown!
BlueNeptune: I'll take care of it... (fighting the urge to call him "Dad") Mr. Scott.
(They head off in opposite directions as BlueNeptune rounds a corner to the site of the detection. The other Rangers, having received the message sent by Bryan, have shown up.)
BlueNeptune: Strange. An oil tank just doesn't spontaneously combust like that.
GreenMars: Unless... There! (Points out another oil tank) This plot has Balzac written all over it!
AquaMercury: Easily taken care of. (does a forward flip and kicks a Balzac in the head but is bombarded by the rest.) Hey! Little help here!
RedJupiter: The Balzac!
(For quicker extermination, the Rangers use their weapons in conjunction with their martial arts to eliminate the Balzac.)
Balzac wouldn't just attack without a virus.
YellowVenus: Yeah, but where is it?
BlueNeptune: I'm thinking it has something to do with the blown tanks. (picks up a shard of blown tank) GammaRecord! (records the viral patterns) Hmm... Definitely a pattern (the shard flies out of his hand) Hey!
(The shards fly out of the rubble and form into a new Betamon, Beta Tanker.)
Beta Tanker: Are you ready for me.
Rangers: GammaRangers ready!
Beta Tanker: Not after this! (blasts a ball of oil at the Rangers)
YellowVenus: Guys! I'm blinded! This oil is all over my helmet and it's hardening!
GreenMars: I'll take care of that. (calls GammaBlaster) Hold still. (blasts oil shell from YellowVenus' helmet)
Beta Tanker: You won't have such an easy time with me.
(He uses a supercharged oil blast to send the Rangers falling into the water.)
Now onto phase two of my plan.
(The monster raises his arms ans the rig begins to rotate. In a matter of moments, the Rangers manage to swim to the docks, just in time to watch the oil rig slip into a cloudy rift into Cyberspace.)
RedJupiter: The rig!
AquaMercury: It's going into Cyberspace! How are we going to get it back!
BlueNeptune: (upset) Dad! No! We should've fought back!
RedJupiter: No, Scottie. We don't know what we're up against.
(BlueNeptune stands silent. Cut to Cyberspace, where the rig is being used to energize the new weapon.)
Galevan: Beta Tanker! You have served your purpose well. Now go back to Userspace and look for more energy.
Rhexus: Yes! Oil is what we need! More oil! More oil!
Beta Tanker: There are more rigs like that in Userspace... I know it!
Namrock: No doubt the Rangers will be after you, so exercise stealth program.
Beta Tanker: As you wish.
(He returns to Earth to find more oil rigs. Meanwhile, on the rig, Jon is wondering what just happened.)
Jon: (on the phone trying to get ahold of Scottie) Hello? Hello?! (frustrated) Damn it! (sees a Balzac) What the...
(The Balzac controls the path of the rig while the oil drains into the secret weapon. Jon takes a crowbar and whacks him over the head. Then he takes control and steers in the other direction. Cut to the Skystation, where Scottie is trying deaperately to look for clues on the Internet.)
Bryan: There's nothing to worry about. We'll get the rig back.
Scottie: Worry? They have my father! Since my mom died, he's always been there. I have to get him back! (turns toward the computer again) Even if I have to do it myself.
Amy: If you still need help...
Scottie: No, Amy. I can do this myself.
Amy: Did you learn that from your father?
(Scottie thinks for a second on the times he had with his father. Then, his Cyber Loader's search engine went off.)
Scottie: What happened?
Bryan: A new sound file was created. See, everytime a human uses a phone type apparatus in Cyberspace, an .mpg file opens up. It was just mailed to the Cyber Loader's search engine.
(Scottie opens up the file and hears his father.)
Scottie: He's alive. We have to find that rig. We find the rig, we find the Betamon.
Laura: Alright! That sounds like my Scottie! (puts her hand on his shoulder).
Eric: So let's get to the DriverMechs and find this guy!
(The Rangers transform and head to their compartments of the Skystation. BlueNeptune and GreenMars head out with the girls in their CruiserTanks, while RedJupiter stays in the sky in the Drivership.)
BlueNeptune: (over RedJupe's speaker) Bryan, have you found the source of that sound file?
RedJupiter: Not yet... Wait. Here. It's by the pier again. A rift is opening!
YellowVenus: (In CruiserTank-2) You think it's your father?
BlueNeptune: I'm almost sure of it. Let's get to that pier!
GreenMars: Wait. (In CruiserTank-3) We'll have a better chance if we triangulate our forces.
AquaMercury: I agree. We'll take the left.
BlueNeptune: (In CruiserTank-2) We've got right.
RedJupiter: (In the Drivership) I'll take the skies. If there's any emergency, regroup and form MegaDriver immediately. Got it?
Rangers: Lock and upload!
(The Rangers head for the rift. They notice a giant oil rig begin to come out of it, but that's not all. Galevan has sent forth a BetaBeam to enhance the Beta Tanker.)
RedJupiter: It's a BetaBeam! Which means we're going to have a big oil spill to worry about if we don't hurry. Uploading MegaDriver Sequence!
(The DriverMechs merge with the Drivership to form MegaDriver. Suddenly BlueNeptune has an idea.)
BlueNeptune: I gotta get to the rig. (begins to stand. RedJupe stops him.)
RedJupiter: No!
BlueNeptune: I HAVE TO! Look, you chose me to be a GammaRanger. To fend for those who can't fend for themselves. Right now I have to live up to that promise! (storms out to the rig.)
AquaMercury: Aren't you going to stop him, Bryan?
RedJupiter: No. He knows what he's doing.
(On the rig. BlueNeptune looks for any oil and survivors. He especially looks for Jon Scott.)
BlueNeptune: Hello!!
(He encounters some Balzac and uses his NeptuneLance to take them out. Then he sees Jon)
Jon: BlueNeptune! Where's my son?
BlueNeptune: He's safe at home. You better go there too. I'll stay here and look for any remaining oil.
Jon: BlueNeptune...
(Back with the other Rangers, the MegaDriver, on the ground after suffering a devastating blow, Is trying to recharge, but can't.)
RedJupiter: We can't go on like this! Disengage!
YellowVenus: We can't! Scottie's not back yet!
RedJupiter: I know. You're going to have to pilot the CruiserTank.
(The DriverMechs split into three again.)
RedJupiter: Now triangulate the fire. Maybe we can beat him by that.
(The Rangers follow the orders. They triangulate and fire. Beta Tanker is severely weakened to the point that his BetaBlast wear off. The Betamon lands on the rig, ready for BlueNeptune to encounter him in combat.)
BlueNeptune: Whoa! What happened to you?
Beta Tanker: You wouldn't understand, so maybe I'd better show you! (Sends a blast hurtling through his opponent)
BlueNeptune: Keep trying!
(He jumps into the air and slashes him with the NeptuneLance. Later he assembles his Lance Blast Defender.)
This is for my father!
(He sends a blast of his own toward Beta Tanker's cannon, plugging his tank. The pressure gets so great that he explodes, leaving no trace of the virus.)
That... Was a close one. (Sees a band of survivors) Are you guys okay?
(They nod and say "yes" in affirmation. The Rangers come from the MegaDriver.)
RedJupiter: BlueNeptune... Your father...
BlueNeptune: He's alright, but... it's gone. Namrock extracted all the oil. These tanks are dry and useless now.
YellowVenus: I wonder what he wanted it for.
BlueNeptune: My guess is that we'll face more battles like this one before we find the answer to that question. But for now, I have to go see my father.
(The young warrior goes off on his Server Cycle back to his house, where he can reunite with his father and take a moment out to relax, until the next time he and the other GammaRangers are needed.)
