(This is the personal journal of Bryan Stone, leader of Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger, for May 22, 1998:
The most advanced oil rig known to man was introduced to Tradewinds Port the other day, with Jonathan Scott of Stone Labs as coordinator of the project. Jonathan is also Scottie's father. Namrock sought the rig for the oil, leaving us to wonder for what. Beta Tanker managed to be defeated by BlueNeptune, but not before all of the oil disappeared.)
(The scene: Tradewinds High School. Two of the Rangers, Laura and Eric, are wondering about the incident that occured days ago at the oil rig. Amy and Scottie are having stresses of their own. They are in an empty auditorium.)
Laura: (thinking) I just can't think of a cause right now. How about you?
Eric: I'd like to say a new Betamon, but it seems like small stuff. (Hears Scottie's keyboard in the distance and someone singing mildly on key) Hey Scott! What do you think about this whole oil thing?
(Scottie keeps playing. He comes to his senses after being violently shaken.)
Scottie: Hey! Look, I want to forget about this whole oil thing. It was a very weird battle and I hope I never have to fight it again. At least, this week. I have my own problems... (points at Amy, who's still singing mildly on key)
Eric: Hey Amy!
Amy: Oh... Hey Eric, I didn't know you were here.
Eric: Well I wish the same could be said for you. Since when did you want to be a singer?
Amy: Since a long time ago, but I've been also focusing on my studies, so I never had any time for any training.
Laura: (Interrupting) That explains the crowing noise we just heard?
Amy: Well, not everyone is in the tri-state chorus... Two years running.
Scottie: No, but I was in it for four, so I volunteered to give her voice lessons. We entered the talent show as a duo.
Eric: What are you guys called?
Scottie: Umm... We're still working on that.
Eric: Well, keep working.
(Cut to the SkyStation, where Bryan is performing some tests on the Earth's ozone count.)
Bryan: (into a digital recorder) Test 6 shows that the ozone over the atmosphere is rather thick over this hemisphere, but if certain trends continue, by the year 2023, the layer will be 75% of the original size.
(In another part of the bridge, another test goes off. This one detects solar flares and their effects on the Earth. He finds this one to be rather high compared to the last time he tested it: a mere seven minutes.)
Bryan: I don't think this is good.
(Cut to Satellite Namrock, headed straight for the sun. The Namrocks are going to use the sun to create more eergy for the special project.)
Chouzo: (holdong out a strange alien food... on a stick) Ahh! I love this heat!
Galevan: (knocking the stick out of his hand) You imbecile! Can't you take this operation seriously for just one moment?
Rhexus: You're forgetting who you're talking to. Lord, we are about to bring in a fiery substace for energy.
Namrock: I know. A giant star. The Users call it the Sun.
Galevan: You heard him, Balzac. Hook it up to the satellite and move it into Cyberspace.
(Since the Sun is so big and hot, they can't move it all ay once like the oil rig. Little by little they move the fiery sphere into Cyberspace. Cut to the Skystation, where Bryan's tests reveal something else shocking)
Bryan: (thinking) Something's going on. I don't think this is supposed to happen.
(With lightning speed, the leader of the Rangers summons the other members through Instant Voice Mail on his Cyber Loader. Back at school, Amy and Scottie are making progress with their selection.)
Amy: (singing) Give me the time ... I wish you would show me you're... (Cyber Loader goes off) Hold that note.
Scottie: Huh? (his Cyber Loader goes off) Oh, that. (Activates file)
(Amy and Scottie get Eric and Laura as they transform and use the Server Cycles to get to the SkyStation. They reach the SkyStation and get to the control bridge where, still in Ranger costume, they meet up with Bryan.)
Eric: What's up?
Bryan: Look at this. (brings up a chart) These are temperature readings within the last twenty-four hours. Notice at around 2:47 today, the temperature started to drop in a pretty uniform pattern.
Scottie: That's weird. We didn't feel a thing on our way up here.
Eric: Well we have been inside for the whole day.
Bryan: That, and the fact that it has decreased in such small elements that any effect produced will come in a matter of hours. That's only due to calculations I made.
Scottie: It could be a number of things causing it.
Amy: Whatever it is, I'm guessing that our friend Namrock has something to do with it.
Bryan: Well, nevertheless, we have to do something about this. Scottie, take Eric and Laura and go to Earth and search for any clues. (Hands them his laptop) Use the laptop and the Cyber Loaders if you have to. Amy, stay here with me and we'll track atmospheric conditions using the onboard radar.
Scottie: Be on the lookout for anything strange.
Bryan: We will (nods as the thre rush out) Now we can unboard radar to out of if there are any anomalies within our atmosphere or beyond it.
(Cut to Cyberspace, where Galevan sees the Rangers exit the Station.)
Galevan: This does not please me. Rhexus, come here.
Rhexus: I'm glad you called, Galevan. I just had an idea on how we can get rid of the Gammas.
Galevan: Go on.
Rhexus: We take a piece of the sun, namely a sunspot, and infect it with this. (holds up a disk w/ a new Betavirus)
Galevan: Now this is ingenious. Go to the satellite and make it happen.
(Rhexus teleports to the satellite, which is still trying to bring the sun into Cyberspace. He has succeeeded in bringing 25& of it already. Rhexus puts his idea into motion and the result, the fierce Beta Solar, goes to Earth. Cut to the Station.)
Bryan: Anything yet, Amy?
Amy: Not yet. (sidetracked) Bryan, do you think that I have what it takes?
Bryan: For what?
Amy: To be a great singer?
Bryan: Well, I heard about the talent show from Eric and...
Amy: Hold on. If you're going to say something about Scottie...
Bryan: I was just going to say that you and him have a great chemistry. I'm sure you can do great if you keep practicing. (looks at the radar) Uh-oh. I know what's causing the temperature to drop. Better call the others.
(Direct Communicator.)
Scottie, Eric, Laura, does anyone read me?
Scottie: Scottie here. Come in.
Bryan: Come to the Station. I finally have an answer for all this.
Scottie: (seeing an odd looking light in the sky) Uhh, we're on our way.
(The three jet on their ServerCycles to the Station to find out what Bryan saw.)
Scottie: What did you find?
Bryan: Something interesting. (Uses GammaDrive to bring up video) This is a time lapsed .mov file. The last three hours compressed into 15 seconds.
Laura: It looks like the sun is shrinking. But of course we don't know it because it takes around eight minutes for sunlight to reach our atmosphere.
Scottie: I think it has something to so with this. (brings up GammaRecord visual of the strange light in the sky) We saw it just before you called us in.
Bryan: Viral quantities?
Scottie: We think so.
Bryan: (thinks for a bit) Whatever this thing is, it's big. We might have to program the Station for extended outside interactive travel.
Laura: You mean... going into SPACE?!
Eric: I get what he's saying. Hit the problem at the source. One thing's for sure, our solar panel's are gonna get a sure charge.
Bryan: Exactly. I only hope we can.
Amy: It's worth a shot. I'm in.
Laura: Same here.
Scottie: Yeah.
Eric: Alright, I guess.
Bryan: Then it's settled. I don't know any of the risks yet, but we have to try.
(Cut to the Satellite, where half of the sun is in Userspace, and the other half is in Cyberspace.)
Namrock: A black hole sun is a thing of beauty, wouldn't you agree, Galevan?
Galevan: But of course. One more clock hour and we will have all of the fiery energy of the Sun.
Namrock: I'm sure you have a backup plan if something goes awry.
Galevan: But of course. And here it is. (brings up a DigiWindow) Behold, Beta Solar. Too hot for even you to handle.
(Beta Solar continues his descent to Earth. Cut to the SkyStation, where the Rangers, transformed, prepare to go into space.)
RedJupiter: Auxiliary power?
GreenMars: Full.
RedJupiter: Solar generator?
AquaMercury: Check.
RedJupiter: Navigator browser?
BlueNeptune: On line.
RedJupiter: Hyper Boosters?
YellowVenus: Ready. Let's take her in.
RedJupiter: Alright, then. Spatial plugin download!
(The sequence given to them by Koike is uploading its sequence. Soon, the Rangers are blasted out of the atmosphere and into space, where YellowVenus uses GammaPrint to get a map of the cosmos.)
YellowVenus: The source of the observance should be less than a parsec away.
RedJupiter: Right. I have it on screen. There... are two of them!
BlueNeptune: That's the light I saw, dude! Laura, can you scan for any viral readings?
AquaMercury: Do you have to ask? GammaScan, download!
(GammaScan)
The light on the left has viral quantities around it. The light on the right.. is totally composed of them!
GreenMars: Must be a Betamon!
AquaMercury: It gets worse! It's coming right for us!
BlueNeptune: It's getting too close! Bryan, can we still form MegaDriver?
RedJupiter: No time like the present to see. MegaDriver sequence, download!
(The SkyStation separates into five, but due to the lack of gravity to act as a catalyst, it is taking a while longer to form MegaDriver.)
Rangers: MegaDriver ready!
(Beta Solar is still rushing toward the MegaDriver, but this time, he appears as a fiery ball. MegaDriver uses Driver Shield to fend the ball off, but is knocked off course in the process.)
RedJupiter: Guys, we still have a problem. The Sun is two-thirds inside the black hole! If we don't act fast, then the Earth will succomb to another ice age!
GreenMars: Wait, I have an idea! Can MegaDriver operate without an arm?
RedJupiter: MegaDriver is programmed to battle given any circumstances.
YellowVenus: I'll use my TurboJet to destroy the link between the Sun and the Satellite.
RedJupiter: Do it.
(YellowVenus dispatches to her DriverMech as it separates from MegaDriver to chase the Sun. The Namrocks look as TurboJet-4 speeds to the Satellite.)
Chouzo: Yellow Venus has just cut our cords! We're doomed!
Namrock: Not yet. The Sun is still heading in ts course. We have succeeded.
Rhexus: Hold on for a second! The Sun! It's being pulled by another force in the opposite direction!
YellowVenus: I hope this magnet traction works.
(Meanwhile the other Rangers do battle in space with the Beta Solar.)
RedJupiter: We're losing steam! Give me auxiliary!
BlueNeptune: Auxiliary power download!
(MegaDriver comes back full force as the Beta Solar prepares for its retreat brought on by Namrock. Having brought the Sun back into its place, YellowVenus and TurboJet-4 return to the craft.)
YellowVenus: I got the sun back, just in time. But it looks like the Betamon has given up.
RedJupiter: We could only wish that. He'll be back.
(The Rangers return to Earth as it is slowly but surely beginning to warm again. The following night, the team goes to the Tradewinds High Talent showcase.)
Bryan: Alright. You two ready?
(Scottie and Amy nod.)
I'm wondering if you guys ever found a name?
Scottie: You'll see (smiling).
Eric: Guys, you're on!
Bryan: Break a leg!
(Cut to the stage.)
Max: Thanks for that (looks at card) ocarina rendition of "King Fu Fighting." Whew! Now I'd like to intro two of the coolest seniors you'll ever want to hear. Separately, they're Scottie Scott and Amy Berry, but together, they're "The Mind's Eye!" Show ya love for them!
(The two appear on the stage as Scottie plays a slow, smooth tune on his keyboard.)
Amy: (singing) A couple of weeks ago, I swear we had a thing. Today I wonder what it means. What would happen if we two separated? Would everything be as it seems?
Scottie: (singing) In desperation, I look at the sky and I, ask the man on the moon...
Eric: (in the audience while the two keep singing) They're good. I can't believe Scottie wrote that.
Laura: I can. (looks at him specifically as they approach the hook.)
Amy and Scottie: (singing) I wish you could give me the time. I wish you would show me your mind. I really wanna see if you truly love me. So tell me true. What would happen if one world...
Amy: (singing)... Became two?
(Some ovation from the crowd, but not to the Namrocks, which are still in Cyberspace near the new project)
Galevan: Beta Solar, here. (Beta Solar approaches.) With this new upgrade beam, I can now utilize more virus power to give you extra strength. Next time the Rangers show up, they will face...
(He fires an upgrade beam at Beta Solar, infecting the monster with an advanced Betavirus and changing him into...)
BETA FLARE!
