(This is the personal journal of Bryan Stone, leader of Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger, for May 27, 1998:
Amy and Scottie were preparing for the local talent show when I discovered that the sun was mysteriously shrinking. We transformed and went to deep space to find out what had happened. The next thing we know, we had come face to face with another Betamon, Beta Solar. We managed to return the sun to its original position in the cosmos, but questions still remain about Beta Solar's apparent retreat.)
(The scene: The MegaDriver SkyStation. Everyone is busy on the Internet trying to find where Beta Solar went.)
Bryan: Rangers, big news.
Eric: Anything on the Beta Solar?
Bryan: I don't know. (hands him a readout while the other Rangers look on) Why don't you tell me?
Scottie: Something about the pattern looks familiar.
(Scottie rushes back to his station to retrieve the initial readout of the Solar Betavirus.)
This readout looks like that one. Only warped and more scattered. What do you think, Bryan?
Laura: I think we found our virus.
(Cut to the secret development platform in Cyberspace, now called "The Outpost." Galevan talks with his new creation.)
Galevan: So... How do you feel?
Beta Flare: (stammering) I.... I... I CAN TALK!!!! (goes crazy around the Outpost.)
Chouzo: I guess you gave him a little too much there. (grabs the Beam)
Galevan: What do you think you're doing? (grabs the other side of the Beam) You're not authorized to use that!
Namrock: (over the DWC) And who is, Galevan?
Galevan and Chouzo: Lord Namrock!
(The both drop the Upgrader in shock as the impact of the ground activates it. The blast is aimed for a Balzac. The blast sends the newly-formed creature flying.)
Rhexus: My machine!
Chouzo: My Balzac!
Galevan: My, this is getting old. What is the creature? (goes over to the creature) It is still a Balzac.
Creature: Try a BETA Balzac.
Namrock: A Beta Balzac... I'm surprised I haven't thought of this before.
Beta Balzac: That's because you don't think.
Namrock: (in disgust) What?!
Beta Balzac: But I, with my newfound strength and mental prowess, can aid you in a more superior manner than all these minions put together!
Namrock: Really... (goes beyond the fact that he was just insulted) What do you suggest?
Beta Balzac: Training. Only through hard training can my warriors be able to assault...
Chouzo: Wait just one second. What do you mean "your warriors?" I created them. Hell, I created you!
Beta Balzac: Well, that was your first mistake. You overestimate yourself. You couldn't lead them through a file transfer!
Chouzo: (turns toward remaining Balzac) Listen to me! Who are you going to take orders from? We've been through a lot!
Beta Balzac: The only thing you've been through is nanosecond after nanosecond of utter defeat. By normal Users, nonetheless!
Rhexus: Well you know what I think...
Beta Balzac: And you know what I think? (turns toward Rhexus) I think that I do not CARE what you think.
Chouzo: That's it! (draws his dagger) Anyone who wants to challenge him has to go through me first. Beta Balzac, I CHALLENGE YOU!
Beta Balzac: (uses mind pulse to control the other Balzac who now crowd around him) You sure you want to do that? (Chouzo shudders.)
That's what I thought. Now, Sire. Tell me where I can find the GammaRangers.
(Cut to the school, where Scottie is in the student lounge examining the virus situation. Laura comes behind him.)
Laura: Scottie, it's 4:15. Why are you still here? Scottie: Just looking over the sheets Bryan gave me. So familiar.
Laura: Able to come up with anything?
Scottie: The virus indices. If I can find the sources, and if they are identical, then we might be able to find where Beta Solar went.
Laura: Well, I can worry about this later. I have to go to the Boutique for another job. Care to give me a ride?
Scottie: Why not; you might need my help.
Laura: Why? I'm a GammaRanger, same as you. (smiles)
(The two make their way to the parking lot, and on their way, they are ambushed by Balzac and their new leader, Beta Balzac.)
Scottie: Now, aren't you glad you had me here?
Laura: Quiet, you, and kick some Balzac.
(The two begin unmorphed battle.)
Beta Balzac: I'm afraid it won't be easy this time.
Scottie: (fighting a Balzac) Balzac can talk?
Laura: Not since last time.
(Being defeated, Scottie and Laura call for reinforcements. Bryan and Amy come in a matter of seconds from the SkyStation. Eric comes a little later. They all begin to fight the Balzac, as Bryan charges Beta Balzac, only to be given a blast from Beta Balzac's eye rays.)
Bryan: These are no ordinary Balzac.
Beta Balzac: And so you're an ordinary User.
Bryan: You're about to see how ordinary. Jupiter file, download!
(Bryan transforms and has his JupiterSaber in his hand.)
Eric: He's got the right idea. Ranger files, download!
(All Rangers transform with S-Weapons in hand.)
Rangers: GammaRanger ready!
Beta Balzac: Do you really think a couple of toothpicks and a pick axe is going to stop me?
BlueNeptune: No, but how about a broomstick with claw attached to it? (Jumps into the air and nicks him with the NeptuneLance.)
Beta Balzac: (Trying to regain composure) Not bad, but can you do it twenty more times? (points to the Balzac)
YellowVenus: I'm sure we can give it a shot. Let's go!
(Balzac fight with the Balzac losing. Beta Balzac is obviously upset.)
Beta Balzac: All that training and you STILL are defeated? The best thing to do is take them out myself! (fires at the Rangers. Rangers flip over.)
GreenMars: Guys, what about the MD Cannon?
AquaMercury: Do you think it wil work?
RedJupiter: We don't have a choice. Assemble!
(The weapon is assembled.)
And now the position. (two Rangers on each side).
Beta Balzac: Nothing but an oversized pea shooter.
BlueNeptune: Yeah, we'll see. Ready?
Rangers: Lock on and fire!
(The piercing laser fires a high concentration antivirus beam that counteracts the effects of the Upgrader. Beta Balzac is reduced to a shell of what he once was.)
RedJupiter: No. I'll leave you alive, only so you can suffer the horrors of your master. Now, go back to Namrock!
(The Balzac flee for their lives. RedJupiter and the others are left to wonder what that was about.)
RedJupiter: Can someone tell me what the hell just happened?
BlueNeptune: I don't know. You think it had to do something with the other attacks?
RedJupiter: That's just it! These attacks are related, but to what? Ranger Shutdown!
(retroform)
Laura: Man! I'm going to be late! Scottie, can you still drop me off?
Scottie: Drop you off... Stay a while... Take pictures... Whatever. (smiles)
Bryan: Scottie, you think you can meet us at your house when you're done? We need all the help we can get.
Scottie: I'll be back.
(Laura and Scottie exit. Cut back to the Satellite, where Galevan and the Balzac were holding a private meeting.)
Galevan: You honestly think you can try and stage a mutiny and get away with it?
(Balzac is muted.)
Galevan: All I know for sure is that Namrock will be a lot more forgiving than I will (blasts him to oblivion) And let that be a warning for the lot of you! That impudence will not be tolerated!
Namrock: (cloaked in the darkness) Galevan, is Beta Flare ready for an attack?
Galevan: Well, he's...
Beta Flare: Are you forgetting that I can talk now? (pushes Galevan out of the way) Yes I am, sire.
Namrock: Good.. Go to Earth and restore our fire energy. Or else..
Beta Flare: Or else what?
Galevan: OR ELSE WE'LL USE YOU AS THE FIRE ENERGY!
(Cut to the Tradewinds Mall, where, as usual, Laura is standing around occupying space. She has just been released for a 30 minute break. During this break, Scottie, who's at the food court, receives an E-mail on his Cyber Loader.)
To: BlueNeptune
Scottie, I think we found something. Get Laura and come home. This is majorly important.
BS
(Scottie spots Laura and they both hurry to his house.)
Scottie: Bryan, just got your message. What's up?
Bryan: We found the source of the readouts. A disclosed location in Cyberspace. We think that the Solar Betavirus was upgraded into a potent, more dangerous form.
Laura: Like the Balzac.
Bryan: Right. Now if we can only figure out where it's going.
Eric: (From another room) Here.
Amy: No, really. Where's it goin'?
Eric: No, really. It's coming here!
Amy: Is it big?
Eric: Oh yeah...
Laura: You think the Station can handle such a monster?
Bryan: I don't know. Maybe if we're able to use his own power against him.
Scottie: Then let's get airborne so we can stop that thing!
(The Rangers transform and race to the SkyStation. Beta Flare enters the Earth's atmosphere.)
Beta Flare: Where is MegaDriver! My wrath will continue until I see MegaDriver!
(In the SkyStation)
GreenMars: Guys, he wants to see MegaDriver!
AquaMercury: Let's not disappoint him!
RedJupiter: You heard Laura. Download MegaDriver sequence!
(The SkyStation comes apart and comes together again as MegaDriver.)
Rangers: MegaDriver ready!
(MegaDriver and Beta Flare begin to fight, with Beta Flare obviously winning. The Rangers are puzzled.)
BlueNeptune: I don't get it! He's Beta Solar, but at the same time, he's not!
AquaMercury: I'll try something. DriverScan download!
(The MegaDriver uses Laura's GammaScan to identify the monster.)
According to the readings, the Upgrade he received created a new monster called Beta Flare.
RedJupiter: Now we know we can't back down!
(The MegaDriver continues to fight.)
Beta Flare: (launches a fire attack) Give up already!
BlueNeptune: That's it! We've been forgetting the fact that while he's a virus, he's still fire-based.
RedJupiter: Meaning?
BlueNeptune: Open up the CO2 tanks and get my ServerCycle. I have an idea.
(RedJupiter does what he asks. BlueNeptune is launched out of MegaDriver, MD Cannon in hand, and towards the base of Beta Flare's nose.)
Beta Flare: Not the pea shooter again.
BlueNeptune: You'll be surprised, you overgrown candle! Bryan, now!
Rangers: DriverLaser, fire!
(A high concentration beam is fired, along with the MD CAnnon, which is hooked to the Station's CO2 tanks. BlueNeptune rejoins the Rangers.)
RedJupiter: Now, Antisaber download!
Namrock: (in the sky) No, RedJupiter, I'll take it from here.
RedJupiter: What are you getting at, Namrock?
Namrock: My want for energy, Mr. Stone. (begins to suck the energy out of Beta Flare)
RedJupiter: That's low, even for you!
Namrock: You're right. I'll put my resources to work for the right choices... (begins to fire negative energy rays at RedJupiter)
RedJupiter: Wh... What are you doing?
Namrock: Sucking the life energy out of you. Since you were the bravest to face me, I believe you shall be the example for your team... (Namrock's image fades away. So does Bryan's.)
