(This is a supplementary entry into the personal journal of Bryan Stone, written by Richard Scott, for June 3, 1998:
It's been a hard time for all of us. We recently got Bryan back from Cyberspace, but he keeps saying something about a ghost. I wish I knew what he meant. I remember fighting something that I couldn't see. We were never able to destroy it. I wonder what comes next.)
Eric: So what could you say about this... "grid ranger?" Bryan: I don't know... (drinks his orange juice) He was just sort of blurred.
Amy: A ghost?
Bryan: I don't think so. Just another entity. Like us, the SkyStation, or the ServerCycles. An active program waiting to be brought into fruition.
Scottie: Well, I can guarantee you that well be seeing more of... him... her... it?!
Bryan: Who knows?
Amy: You sure that you don't need any help? I mean, you just came from the Web.
Bryan: If I need any help, I'll ask Koike for it. Besides, you've been helping me a lot since I arrived here. I think you need a break.
Scottie: Well, if you say so. (turns to Laura) Can I talk to you for a moment?
Laura: Umm... Sure. (turns to others) I'll be back. (exits into a separate room with Scottie)
Alright Scottie, what's this about?
Scottie: Well, I was thinking. Since Bryan gave us the day off, why don't we spend it together?
Laura: Sounds like fun. What did you have in mind, Scooter?
Scottie: Hmm... (thinks for a moment) I don't know.
Laura: Well, it's a good thing you have me around. (smiles)
Scottie: What are you talking about?
Laura: You'll see. Now come on.
(Laura drags Scottie to his car and they take off. The remaining three Rangers soon formulate plans for the day. Cut to the outpost, where Galevan, Rhexus, and Beta Specter continue to work on the secret project.)
Galevan: It's good to have fresh blood working on the project.
Beta Specter: I'd rather be exacting my revenge on the Rangers.
Rhexus: Please... When you're on the Master's good graces, you don't need to do all your work. (pulls out a Betadisc) Get someone to do it for you!
(The three viroids formulate the Betamon to collect water and wind energy, and then unleash it onto the world.)
Beta Gator. The lake is your first target. Collect energy!
(Beta Gator heads for the lake, where Chouzo is trying to collect his own energy.)
Chouzo: Alright. Ready Balzac! I'll collect the life energy from the Users generated by the attack.
(Balzac concur and begin an attack on the humans.)
Beta Gator: Chouzo, so you realize what you have just done?
Chouzo: I don't know... Something right?
Beta Gator: Damn straight! Not only did you manage to collect more life energy, you made the coast clear for phase two!
Chouzo: Phase two?
Beta Gator: Yeah. Namely, this!
(Beta Gator begins to zap the water from the lake. Scottie and Laura appear from the park lounge.)
Laura: I didn't even know you knew how to water ski.
Scottie: Yeah. You're forgetting; I'm BlueNeptune. (smiles) Amazing the things you learn when you're forced to.
Laura: I didn't force you to, did I? (laughs w/Scottie)
Scottie: Well, not you. Just my unc...
Laura: Hold up (alarmed). Over there. (points to the Namrocks.)
Scottie: Namrocks? What are they doing here?
Laura: Just E-mailed the others. They'll be here shortly. I hope.
Scottie: Well, we don't know the effects that trip had on his Cyber Loader, so be prepared.
Laura: Got it. Mercury file, download!
Scottie: Neptune file, download!
(The two transform and flip onto the scene each with Ranger Dagger in hand. They begin to fight the Balzac. After a while, they retreat.)
BlueNeptune: You're about to learn the power of water! GammaRecord, download!
(He uses GammaRecord to control the water as it hits the Namrocks!)
Beta Gator: Not smart. Beta Specter! Come into fruition!
(Beta Specter appears out of nowhere.)
Beta Specter: What you fail to realize is that I notice the inner workings of the User's mind.
AquaMercury: What are you getting at?
Beta Specter: This!
(The Namrocks combine rays to form a negative enrgy wormhole. Their first target: AquaMercury.)
AquaMercury: What is this? (obviously scared)
BlueNeptune: Laura! (grabs onto her arm) I gotcha!
AquaMercury: No! Not you too!
BlueNeptune: I have to! You're my...
(Before he can finish his sentence, the two Rangers lose each other's grips. AquaMercury is hurtled through the vortex screaming Scottie's name.)
Laura! (turns toward the band of Namrocks) YOU!
Beta Specter: Uh uh uh! That's no way to treat a rival.
BlueNeptune You bastard!
(BlueNeptune assembles his BlastClaw and charges for the Namrocks. They escape through a Digiwindow and BlueNeptune feels disappointed as the others arrive in Eric's jeep.)
Amy: Scottie...
BlueNeptune: Laura... (holds the BlastDagger AquaMercury left)
Eric: What happened?
BlueNeptune: She's gone... Namrock has her.
(The four Rangers head for Scottie's house. Scottie, dejected, is locked in his room looking at a picture of him and Laura at the fair.)
Bryan: Scottie? (pause, then turn towards Amy and Eric) Guess he still needs some time.
Amy: What's with him and Laura anyways?
Eric: Come on, Amy. You know how close they are. They're like brother and sister or something.
Scottie: (after opening the door) Alright guys. What gives?
Bryan: We were wondering if you were thinking about Laura.
(Scottie pauses and then closes the door halfway before Bryan pushes it open again.)
Look. It's doing none of us any good with your moping.
Scottie: You're right. I have to help her. She's...
Bryan: Hold on there. YOU?! You're gonna need our help.
Scottie: Okay. Where do we begin?
(The Rangers head for the Station. Meanwhile, AquaMercury is left to wander a makeshift limbo created by Beta Specter.)
AquaMercury: Where... Scottie?
Beta Specter: Not today, Miss Mendes. (emerges from the darkness)
AquaMercury: You attacked us at the beach!
Beta Specter: (silent wicked laughter) Guilty as charged. (comes closer) I almost succeeded in taking your friend's energy. But you, my dear, shall more than compensate for the loss.
AquaMercury: What the hell are you talking about?
Beta Specter: The eventual takeover of the Userworld by the Namrocks. And it starts with you.
AquaMercury: You're crazy.
Beta Specter: Aren't we all.
(The two begin a bare-fisted fight.)
Well. Your energy level is quite high.
AquaMercury: Your point being?
Beta Specter: I'm willing to let you join me. (AquaMercury reaches for her Cyber Loader to call the others) Don't bother. Your friends are being offered the same deal by my master in your world. You join me and your friends will not have to suffer.
AquaMercury: And if I decline?
Beta Specter: Then you will die before me.
AquaMercury: I'll take my chances with you right... now?
(AquaMercury sees a shadowy figure behind Beta Specter. The warrior jumps from outside the prison and kicks the back of Beta Specter's head, disengaging the mechanism that allows him to transform to a ghost. The "Grid Ranger" then goes toward AquaMercury)
AquaMercury: You're the warrior that Bryan saw!
GridRanger: If you are referring to RedJupiter, I am the same warrior. You have to get out of here! Namrock has released the Beta Gator again.
AquaMercury: But...
GridRanger: I can handle the Beta Specter. I'll be fine. Now I've opened a gateway, but you will be without your powers for a while. Get going!
AquaMercury: Right!
(AquaMercury is sucked back into the hole that brought her there. Namrock, watching from the palace, is not pleased.)
Namrock: Who... Who...
Chouzo: Sire?
Namrock: WHO IS THAT SHADOW?
Chouzo: I don't know!
Namrock: Well, you better find out. In the meanwhile, take the Balzac and the BetaBlaster and go to the Userworld.
(Chouzo does as he says. Cut to the SkyStation, where all the onboard computers are searching for Laura.)
Bryan: (puts helmet down on console) Amy, what does your computer show?
YellowVenus: I'm picking up a vortex, but I'm having trouble using GammaPrint to activate it.
Scottie: Maybe if you were close to the disturbance. (types in the URL of the disturbance and feeds it into Amy's GammaCell.)
Try it now.
(YellowVenus picks up a vortex and brings it to life in the form of a small wormhole. Laura, weak, pops out of it.)
Rangers: Laura?
(They engage in a group hug before Laura collapses. Scottie is the first to help her up.)
Scottie: All right?
Laura: Yeah. I just need a little...
Scottie: Later. Here. (brings a sandwich he brought for their picnic.)
Laura: This helps. (smiles while eating the sandwich)
Eric: I hate to interrupt this Kodak moment, but I'm getting something under the Station.
(The Rangers head to the starboard to see Galevan, Rhexus, Chouzo, Beta Gator, and the Balzac.)
Galevan: You see this, Rangers? This is your future. Chouzo, do it.
Chouzo: Right on, man! Balzac, Beta Blast!
(They Beta Blast the Beta Gator and he grows. The Rangers, stunned, prep for battle.)
Bryan: (while the others put on their helmets) are you ready Laura?
Laura: We'll see. Mercury File, download!
(Transformed, they all head for their battle stations.)
RedJupiter: Upload MegaDriver sequence!
(The Rangers form MegaDriver. The robot confronts the Beta Gator. Beta Gator holds the Namrocks in his hand.)
Rangers: MegaDriver ready!
Beta Gator: Better sit you guys down. This could get ugly.
(Beta Gator sets the Namrocks on a building near the battle.)
Now for you!
(MegaDriver and Beta Gator begin to fight. Beta Gator bites the mantle.)
GreenMars: Mega-D can't take mcuh more abuse!
YellowVenus: Yeah, we're getting torn here!
RedJupiter: Scottie, can we get some deflection here?
BlueNeptune: No problem, dude! Driver Shield, download!
(Driver Shield appears in Mega-D's hand. The shield deflects Beta Gator's radiation blasts and sends them hurtling back to him.)
GreenMars: Let's send this Godzilla wannabe back to Cyberspace!
RedJupiter: I agree. Antisaber, download and energize!
(Beta Gator gets up and fires another round of radiation, but it is too little, too late.)
Rangers: Antisaber Finish!
(The MegaDriver uses Antisaber Finish to defeat Beta Gator. A while later, the Rangers go back to Scottie's basement and check up on their fight status.)
Eric: How's MegaDriver?
Bryan: Between the last few fights, his main energy regen is down about 27 percent. Let's just hope that Namrock doesn't plan on fighting us any time soon.
Amy: Well, we still have our day off. Let's go do something! Laura?
Laura: I gotta stay here and talk to Scottie. I'll be right up.
(The Rangers leave while Scottie and Laura talk.)
Scottie: Well, what did you have to talk to me about?
Laura: I just wanted to thank you for trying to rescue me back there.
Scottie: I did it for the team... And for me.
Laura: Huh? How so?
Scottie: You mean that much to me. I couldn't bear to see you gone. I had to do it because I... .
Laura: You don't have to say anything. (holds his hand) I know. And I love you too. (smiles as they kiss for a while).
Scottie: Come on; the others are waiting.
(The two head up the stairs and to Scottie's car. As Laura explains to Scottie about the new friend that they had dubbed "GridRanger," they hold onto each other so they won't be separated again.)
