(This is the personal journal of Bryan Stone, leader of Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger, for June 10, 1997:
After careful viewing of the last few battles, I was still stumped on why MegaDriver was weakening faster than usual. An image of GridRanger helped us on the way to the answer, but unfortunately we were also faced with the problem of Beta Specter. We finally managed to beat him when from out of the sky something (or someone) came out.)
Bryan: What is that?
Eric: I'm not about to find out! Guys, don't we have that community service project to do with MacDonald High?
Scottie: He's right. If we don't do it, we don't graduate next week.
Bryan: Alright. You guys go. Laura, come with me.
(The Rangers head off in their separate directions. Cut to the outpost. The stage has been set. All the energy that was needed has been collected. Now all the Namrocks have to do is find humans willing to test this secret weapon, now known as the Doomship.)
Namrock: The stage is set for a hostile takeover of Userspace. Where are my pilots?
Chouzo: Right here! (enters with a bunch of Balzac)
Namrock: Balzac... What are you, insane? This has to go without flaw! If we are going to encounter the GammaRangers, we need pilots who are as strong, if not stronger, than they are. We need Users.
Galevan: I will begin the search.
Namrock: And if you fare like Beta Specter...
Galevan: He only got that way because he screwed with me.
(As the warrior walks toward the portal, Namrock looks toward a Digiwindow where he sees Amy, Scottie, and Eric at a graffiti-stricken wall in Tradewinds Park, to which we cut now.)
Eric: Well, we're here. So where's this Mr. De La Vega?
Scottie: I think it's that guy over there. (goes over to that guy over there.) Eddie? Yo, Eddie!
Eddie: Little man? Dude, I don't believe it!
(The two pal around as if they knew each other.)
Amy: How the hell...
Scottie: Eddie turned me on to kickboxing. If it wasn't for this guy, I'd still be on the street.
Eddie: Or worse. These must be your friends from Tradewinds High.
Amy: Yeah. We're looking for Mr. De La Vega?
Eddie: You've found him! (everyone looks confused) ME! Eddie De La Vega.
Scottie: So... Eddie D! Where do we start?
(As the Rangers get acquainted with their new friend, we cut to the field, where Bryan and Laura find a capsule.)
Bryan: So what happened?
Laura: It fell out of the sky. Anything else?
Bryan: Looks like a stabilizing capsule. Whatever it is, it's being contained in an... energy.... field... Laura...
Laura: (looking for other clues) What? What did you find?
(She looks into the capsule where it is obviously cracked from the fall.)
Laura: Bryan... It's GridRanger!
GridRanger: (wearily from within the capsule) Sky... Station...
Bryan: Why not? The Station has a better stabilizing atmosphere than... this.
(The Rangers prepare to transload the capsule. Namrock catches news of this.)
Namrock: That capsule... What's in it?
Chouzo: I don't know, but I betcha I can find out.
Namrock: Just go already.
(Chouzo takes the Balzac to the field, where Bryan and Laura prepare the vapsule from the trip to the Station.)
Bryan: All ready?
Laura: Let's do it.
Chouzo: Not yet!
(Chouzo and Balzac enter with plans to destroy the capsule.)
Bryan: Protect the capsule!
(The Balzac fight Bryan trying to get to the capsule, which is being carried off in Eric's Server Cycle. Cut to the park, where Amy and Scottie are working with two MacDonald High students.)
Scottie: So, you guys do this all the time?
Sara: Yeah, whatever.
Amy: What's wrong with her?
Scottie: She's worse than you, I bet.
Spoony: (overhearing) Don't mind her. She's always like this. Where's your friend, Eric?
Scottie: I don't know... Amy?
(Amy shrugs her shoulders. Cut to Eric, where he is getting washed up for a clean-up job. He is caught off guard by Balzac who are looking for the capsule. They are attacking a nearby in-line skater.)
Eric: Hey! Get away! (turns toward fallen skater) You okay?
Skater: Yeah. I'll be alright. (While Eric helps her up) What was that about?
Eric: (acting like he doesn't know) I don't know. Listen. I know a place. Well-lit. Full of people. You'll be safe there. I'm on my way there now.
Skater: I guess it's the least I can do for you "rescuing" me (laughs). I'm Jill.
Eric: (offering hand) Eric. Eric Moriboshi.
(The two walk over to the front of the park, where everybody is working.)
Spoony: hey Amy, you finished over there?
Amy: Just about.
Galevan: (from out of nowhere) And I'm about finished with you, Miss Berry.
(The warrior, accompanied with Balzac, rampaging the work site.)
Amy: Balzac. The last thing we need. (runs off with Scottie)
Eddie: Where are you two going?
Scottie: To get help!
Eddie: (face to face with a Balzac) I know how to deal with you. (they fight) Sara! Spoony! Little help!
(The two help Eddie with the Balzac. Enter Eric and Jill.)
Jill: I thought you said that I was going to be safe!
Eric: Don't worry. I'll protect you.
(Eric shields Jill from the Balzac, while Eddie, Spoony, and Sara fight the Balzac. Cut to Scottie and Amy, who have departed to a disclosed location to transform.)
Amy: Anybody?
Scottie: Nope. Let's lock and upload. Neptune File, download!
Amy: Venus file, download!
(The two transform and return to the site to help Eddie and the others.)
BlueNeptune: You and your friends better leave.
Eddie: You trippin'! A GammaRanger?!
YellowVenus: Whatever, just get out of here!
(The Rangers fight the Balzac back to their point of origin, when one stays behind and ambushes Jill.)
Jill: (after screeching) Get off of me! (kicks him and throws him over her shoulder)
Eric: Whoa... I didn't know you could do that.
Jill: You never asked. (smiling)
(After all is cleared, the Rangers are confronted by Eddie and the others.)
Eddie: The one and only GammaRangers. I don't believe it.
YellowVenus: Well, we didn't believe you could handle all those Balzac back there. Thanks for the help. (her and Scottie run off again.)
Spoony: No... problem? (confused, he turns toward Sara, Eddie, Eric, and Jill.) Ummm.. Maybe we should go home.
Jill: We? I don't even know you people!
Spoony: That doesn't matter. It isn't safer here.
Eric: You're right. Come on, Jill. I'll...
Jill: Oh, no. You've done enough today. As much as I appreciate it all, I gotta get my head screwed on straight. It was a pleasure meeting you, though.
Eric: Same here. (walks off)
Jill: (under her breath) Yeah. Right. (turns around to see Galevan still there and gets startled)
Galevan: Users! You have been chosen!
Jill: Not again...
Galevan: You ALL have been chosen!
Eddie: For what? Target practice?
Galevan: On the contrary.
(The Rangers reconvene on board the Station. Bryan continues to analyze the now-open capsule featuring GridRanger lying in it.)
Laura: I know it would be weird to ask, but... do you think (looks at GridRanger's helmet) we can take it off?
Eric: Why not.
Bryan: I guess so. Whoever GridRanger is, he probably has to have a humanoid form.
Scottie: Besides, the fresh Station air will work wonders if it is directly contacted.
Laura: Alright. (proceeds to talk off GridRanger's helmet, when Bryan stops her)
Bryan: I think you better let me.
(Bryan carefully removes the helmet from the body to find a big surprise.)
Guys, you better look at this. GridRanger's a...
Scottie: A woman?!
Amy: (after a long pause) That'll do.
(Meanwhile, at the site, Galevan is working his magic.)
Galevan: The four of you have been chosen to service for my master.
Spoony: What the hell are you babbling about?
Jill: Wait. No way. I don't even know these people.
Galevan: More the better. You shall get a chance to meet them when you work for my master.
Sara: And just who is "your master?"
(Namrock appears via a DWC)
Namrock: Me.
(The four are stunned. Cut to the SkyStation, where GridRanger has been moved to a chamber in the upper decks.)
Eric: I can't believe GridRanger's a girl.
Amy: Hello! This is the nineties. Anyone can be anything nowadays. Just look at us!
Scottie: She's right. It took sone convincing to make us think that we were GammaRangers.
Eric: Alright. Point taken, but still. She's more powerful than all of us!
Bryan: (examining data) She's also not human. She's an imaging representation of an active HTML file developed to assist us. She's as strong as she is formatted to be. But where did it come from?
GridRanger w/o helmet: Excuse me...
(The Rangers turn toward the SkyStation cockpit door and glance at the GridRanger, what appears to be a young girl around their age.)
Bryan: Who are you? And where did you come from?
Young girl: Are you Bryan Stone of the Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger?
Bryan: Who are you?
Young girl: My filename is Sei. My format is GridRanger, developed as a prototype of the Cyberproject Gamma.
Scottie: I think I speak for the rest of us when I say, "You've got a lot of explaining to do."
(Cut back to the site, where Namrock is explaining the situation.)
Namrock: You four have been given an esteemed honor.
Sara: You have a problem with that, 'cause we ain't going!
Galevan: I'm afraid you don't have a choice!
Namrock: Galevan!
(They all look at Galevan)
You will have to excuse my associate here. He tends to be a bit overzealous.
Eddie: What's this all about?
Namrock: You shall soon find out. But for now, I'm prepared to make you a very beneficial offer.
Jill: Are you sure you want us? (Balzac stops her as she tries to escape)
Namrock: Yes I am, my dear. I need you to help me. I have a project that I cannot do myself, so I have called upon Galevan to look for eligible Users. (gives them the once-over) I see that he has succeeded. Come with me.
Sara: I think you misunderstood! We are NOT GOING!
Galevan: I think YOU are misunderstood, User. You do not have a choice.
(The Namrocks zap the unsuspecting victims through a Digiwindow and into Cyberspace, while returning themselves. Little do they know about their impending fate.)
