(This is the personal journal of Bryan Stone, leader of Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger, for June 13, 1998:
A capsule fell from the sky. Believing it was from Cyberspace, Laura and I took it to the Station. Meanwhile, Namrock and the Balzac attack a work site in the park where Amy, Scottie, Eric, several students from Tradewinds and MacDonald High Schools, and an innocent bystander happened to be. Amy and Scottie transformed to fight them. As they left, Namrock and Galevan began to associate with their new friends. And the story continues...)
(The scene: the worksite. Lord Namrock and Galevan are trying to appease to the four new teenagers. The only way to do that: take them to the outpost.)
Namrock: Now we can do this one of two ways, the easy way... (opens a Digiwindow) or my way.
Spoony: How about "no... way."
Namrock: Oh well. Have it your way. Don't say I wasn't nice. Galevan, do it.
Galevan: At once, sire.
(Before they get a chance to escape, Galevan lets loose a traction program that manages to seize the four people. They are dragged kicking and screaming through the digital abyss, until they arrive at the outpost.)
Namrock: Galevan. I'm counting on you to make sure that this never happens again.
Galevan: The recruits will comply.
(They both go back to the Outpost via the Digiwindow. Cut to the Station, where Sei has introduced herself to the Rangers.)
Eric: Amazing. It's like a creation of some sorts.
Bryan: That's because it is. (Faces Sei) The way I figure it, Sei is a test file.
Sei: That's right. I was uploaded on the Gammaproject mainframe, then activated with the primary purpose to test a prototype super armor intended for use with your powers. Unfortunately, the powers was too unstable to maintain. As we speak, I am on the verge of erasure.
Amy: Are you sure? I mean, the Station and the capsule...
Sei: Means of prolonging the inevitable.
Laura: That's why you couldn't leave Cyberspace! If you did...
Sei: Then it would trigger a countdown to destruction. That's why Lt. Koike sent me here. He hoped you might have the answer.
Scottie: Maybe we can ask Koike for suggestions.
Bryan: It's worth a shot.
(Bryan gets to work on contacting Koike. Cut to the outpost, where four "prisoners" are being held.)
Namrock: As I have said before, I need your help. As you saw before in the Userspace, there are forces that want to invade it.
Eddie: These forces, how do you know about them?
Namrock: My soldiers and I -- Rhexus, Chouzo, and Galevan -- have seen them. I have chosen you four to stop them.
Sara: With what?
Rhexus: I'll fill this one, my dear... With this.
(He uncovers the secret project which they were planning for; a giant warship called Daemon Navigator. The teens are awed.)
It's a rather large ship, but with a few surfs you will be able to navigate it.
Namrock: The warriors that attacked you. There are more. They will strike again. The places you know. The people you love. The things you hold dear are all at risk. Now, I have a proposition for you.
Spoony: What did you have in mind?
Namrock: Fight as my warriors. Help me deal with this new evil.
Jill: What new evil?
Namrock: GammaRangers.
Eddie: No way! They helped us.
Namrock: I won't say that they're evil, but they are impeding our progress toward harmony between Userspace and Cyberspace.
Sara: What?
Namrock: They want to eliminate us. If we are eliminated, then what else is next?
Eddie: I still don't buy it.
Chouzo: Oh yeah? Buy this! (brings out injured Balzac, looking all innocent)
Spoony: What if we get in the way?
Eddie: Not like I can imagine something like that happening, but we'll have to defend.
Namrock: Now you're seeing the light. Galevan! Get them to training!
(Galevan activates a Digiwindow and sends the teens through it before entering it himself.)
Galevan: I will not disappoint you.
(Cut to the SkyStation. Sei is explaining to the Rangers her origin.)
Sei: After receiving word of your Betamon dangers, like energy being taken from your world, I was formatted by Katsuhiro Koike to test the prototype program hyperlink. I was called Sei.
Eric: Sei? As in Japanese for "star?"
Bryan: Yeah... Sei was also the name of Koike's daughter. Before he left to lead Cyberproject, she mysteriously disppeared. I guess this is a speculation of what she would look like.
Sei: As for the GridRanger, Koike created it to my simulated biorhythms. I wore it and swore that I would defend Cyberspace with it. Unfortunately, Koike found it to be flawed. Too much negative resistance to my simulation. What you would call a "dead link." Finding no other way of resolving the problem, he put me program in a stabilizing capsule and sent it to Userspace in hopes that you would find it.
Scottie: And that brings up here. So what's the next step.
Koike: (over monitor) Allow me to answer that question, Mr. Scott.
(The six face the monitor. Cut to the chamber where the four "prisoners" are being held.)
Sara: How did we get here?
Jill: I just want to know how to leave.
Galevan: You insolence will only hinder you. It is a fierce enemy. Only through training can you defeat it.
Eddie: You mean the only way out is to fight?
Galevan: You catch on quick. (releases Balzac which quickly flood the room.)
Spoony: What the--?!
Eddie: You heard what he said earlier. THe only way out is through fighting these guys again.
(Cut to the SkyStation. Bryan has managed to contact Koike.)
Koike: What's wrong, GammaRangers?
Amy: There's something I think you should see. (brings Sei to the monitor)
Sei: Father?
Koike: (smile) Sei... you have carried out the orders documented in my message.
Bryan: Except for one thing. She's slowly being erased? And if she goes, then so goes the GridRanger powers.
Koike: I know. The GridRanger programs needs a body to executed. And since I don't know exactly how the GammaRanger powers were created... (pauses) I tried my best, but even my best was flawed.
Bryan: What if I helped you alter the program a little. After all, I created the GammaRanger programs.
Koike: (after a long pause) When do we begin?
(As soon as Koike says this, Sei faints.)
Laura: This isn't good! We're slowly losing her!
Koike: You're right, Miss Mendes. We must begin as soon as possible.
(Koike begin talking about the schematics. Cut to the battle chamber. To prove themselves worthy, the four humans must fight off all of the Balzac.)
Spoony: (while kicking a Balzac in the chest) How many more of these guys are left?
Sara: You think I know? (throws one over her shoulder) Jill?
Jill: Why are you asking me? I don't even know you people!
(from a corner of the chamber)
Chouzo: (eating popcorn) This is better than pro wrestling!
Rhexus: Yeah! Or watching .movs all day!
(Just then, the Balzac depart.)
Galevan: (entering) You have done well for yourself. You will make fine pilots of Daemon Navigator. Now line up before me!
Eddie: (after they line up) What's this about?
Galevan: It is simple, Edward. To fight us, the GammaRangers call on mystic powers. Under my leadership, you shall have the same advantage. Each of you take of these. (displays four braces, similar in shape -- but also deformed -- to the Cyber Loaders.)
Sara: What are these?
Galevan: These are Daemon Charges, keys to the successful management of our plan. Now transform.
Jill: What? How? WHY?
Galevan: Are you going to comply, Jill, or do I have to throw you to the Balzac again?
(Jill stands silent.)
Now transform... download your Daemon Charge.
Eddie: (hesitant) Daemon Charge, download!
(The four stand similar to the GammaRangers when they transform. Energy from the Daemon Charges surround them. They change form into the DaemonRangers.)
Galevan: You, Edward, will be called DaemonRock, because you draw your power on the natural element of the Earth. How do you feel.
DaemonRock: I feel... almost ten times stronger!
Galevan: You should all feel ten times stronger. (faces Sara) Sara, you are now DaemonAir. The sky and all of its glory bend to you.
(DaemonAir nods.)
Now you. Jill will be DaemonWater. You are master of the waves.
DaemonWater: I control water. Cool.
Galevan: Yes. And last, but not least, Chase burns with the desire to fight.
Spoony as DaemonRanger: Oh yeah! Call me DaemonFire!
(Lord Namrock appears on a DWC.)
Galevan: I give you the DaemonRangers!
Namrock: Very impressive. The Daemon Navigator is ready.
Galevan: As are we. Onward to victory!
(The DaemonRangers stand in martial arts poses. Cut to the SkyStation, where Bryan and Koike are working on a solution to Sei's crisis.)
Bryan: So if we connect the boosters to your supercomputer, we should have something. It will be a temporary fix, but at least it will regenerate her energy.
Eric: So where's Sei now?
Scottie: Here. On my minidisc. (places it in the Station's D: drive) You can upload it now, Koike.
Laura: I don't get it. If Sei and GridRanger are different file types, then how come losing one is a threat to both?
Koike: When we created the program to test the GridRanger powers, we linked her "biorhythms" to those of the GridRanger.
Bryan: Which means if we lose her, we lose the GridRanger.
Koike: Not entirely. Even if Sei was completely wiped from the Grid, there would be an extremely small window of opportunity to unzip the GridRanger configuration and transload it to a completely different protocol.
(Outside of the Station, the Daemon Navigator, at first appearing to be an unidentified flying ship appears, from a dark cloud in the sky and begins to fire upon the Station, starting with the communicaions satellite.)
Bryan: Something's happening. You're breaking up.
Koike: Don't worry... I.... contact.... as soon... energized... will last... ty eight hours...
Eric: Alright. Am I the only one who didn't get that?
Rangers: (a collective collage of "no"s, followed by a more noticeable shot.)
Amy: What was that?
Scottie: I'll check the radar. (checks radar) It's a ship. And it's firing at us!
So how do you think this turgent saga will continue? E-mail me with your thoughts (some of which, I'll guarantee you, are wrong), as well as other comments.
