Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger

Data23: What It Is, What It Was, What It's Supposed To Be

(This is the personal journal of Bryan Stone, leader of the Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger, for June 26, 1998:

After losing our powers to Hexalink, we tried to fight, but were forced to retreat. We ended up at Scottie's basement, where he tried to correct our flawed Cyber Loaders. Whereas Laura was busy uploading all our files back into the system. While all of this was going on, Galevan and Hexalink fight each oter for Galevan's seat on the Namrock court. We finally got most of our powers back, just in time to fight some really big enemies. Lucky for us, I had Laura download the file for GridTitan, Jill's DriverMech.)

(The scene, downtown Tradewinds. GridRanger received her new DriverMech, the GridTitan. Prior to the battle, a round of shots were fired at the three viral beings that plagued the town, Megalevan, Hexalink, and Beta Bee. Showdown time is imminent as the Rangers form Mode Two GridTitan.)

Rangers: Mode Two GridTitan, ready! (M2GT poses)

Hexalink: Another robot?

Megalevan: Funny. I thought you destroyed all their arsenal.

Beta Bee: Forget you two, I'm going in!

(Beta Bee tries to fight the GridTitan. He gives a couple of shots out of his stinger, which initially have the Rangers on the run. Cut to the cockpit of the GridTitan.)

GreenMars: Jill, can you do anything about this guy?

GridRanger: I can try. (looks down on the console with the GridLoader and notices the buttons marked "A", "B", "C", and "D".) What abut these options?

RedJupiter: Try them out! See what they can do.

GridRanger: Alright. Here it goes. Option C, download!

(She presses the C button. The GridRanger's hands rise and start firing in the fashion of a Gatling gun.)

Whoa. Talk about rapid fire.

(THe GridTitan continues to fight the Betamon and the Namrocks at once.)

Hexalink: A stupid little pea shooter? Is that all your soul has to offer? (aims his sword at the GridTitan)

BlueNeptune: Heh... Hope not. Any ideas?

GridRanger: What's button D? No better way to find out... Option D, download!

(She presses the "D" button. Automatically, two swords come out of GridTitan's hands. The GridTitan puts the The machine fights the bottoms of the swords together to form the Titan Lancer. The machine uses the Titan Lancer to fight Beta Bee, one on one.)

Beta Bee: Huh? A new weapon? Sounds dangerous. Let's see what I've got!

(Out of his hand stinger, Beta Bee forms his stinger blade, but ultimately, it is no match for the twin blades of the Titan Lancer.)

Beta Bee: This does not look good.

GridRanger: Understatement of the year.

Rangers: Titan Finish download!

(Suddenly, the GridTitan's Titan Lancer begins to glow as the robot twirls it in his hand. Then, he lets it fly in a helicopter motion as it goes through the monster and destroys it.)

AquaMercury: (to Galevan and Hexalink) I wouldn't go far, boys! You're next!

Hexalink: Not this time, Users. I shall return.

Galevan: No, I shall return.

(The two Digiwindow out.)

YellowVenus: Well, that was strange...

RedJupiter: I can't help but think that there's more to this.

(The Rangers head back to their temporary battle base in Scottie's basement bedroom, as GridTitan heads back to Cyberspace. Cut to the Satellite.)

Galevan: You could have finished them!

Hexalink: You're one to talk. What did you do but take a few blows for me?

Namrock: Right now, I'm wondering about the both of you.

Galevan: How so, my liege?

Namrock: So far, you have double the power you had before with our latest addition of Hexalink, however, you didn't get rid of the Gamma Users or their machines!

Hexalink: That last battle was a fluke. Send us back into battle.

Namrock: What do you have in mind?

Rhexus: Probably more than Galevan.

Galevan: Be silent, you weasel!

Chouzo: You were saying?

Namrock: Yes, Hexalink... You WERE saying...

Hexalink: I have more awesome power that you wouldn't believe. Just send me and Galevan back into battle.

(The master of the Namrocks sends down the two. They begin to attack the humans who run in fear. Cut back to the basement, where Bryan explained the situation to Lt. Koike.)

Bryan: ...And that's why we need your help.

Koike: Interesting. I can fix your ship now because the pieces of it have been transloaded back into file form, but I'm afraid that you might not be defended without it.

Bryan: We'll have to hope for the best.

Jill: And if all else fails, I can fight with the GridTitan.

Koike: You have activated the GridTitan for Miss McClain, I see. Good.

Eric: Koike, we'll try to find a way to compliment its power from here.

Koike: Acknowledged. Koike out.

Laura: So, how are we going to compliment the GridTitan's power?

Scottie: We need a new SkyStation.

Bryan: Scottie. You heard Koike. We'll get one. It's just going to take some time.

Scottie: With Hexalink out there, that's time we don't have. Besides, I'm not talking about the regular SkyStation here. (everyone listens with awe) I'm talking newer, better, more state-of-the-art.

Amy: It took Bryan ten years to make the SkyStation. Call me crazy, but I don't think you can get more state-of-the-art than 2013.

Bryan: Wait, Amy. I trust Scottie's judgment.

Amy: Yeah. What?

Bryan: If this guy can fix the Cyber Loaders TWICE, then I think he can pull this off. (gives him a mini-disc)

Scottie: What's this?

Bryan: It's the prototype template for the SkyStation. Maybe you can make some improvements. And, if you need any help, I'll help.

(Cyber Loader goes off.)

We'll have to put this project off for now. I'm gettin readings of Namrocks on the outskirts of town.

Jill: (looking at her Loader's screen) Looks like the odd couple again.

Bryan: This time, we hit him where it hurts. You with me?

(Mass affirmations.)

Then let's lock it up! Ranger files, download!

(The Rangers transform. They ride on the ServerCycles to the outskirts of town, where, sure enough, Hexalink and Galevan are waiting for them.)

Galevan: I didn't think you'd make it.

GreenMars: You know us; we're always up for a challenge!

Hexalink: Challenge this, User!

(He fires a round of eye shots at the Rangers, who flip over onto the ground.)

AquaMercury: That was a gas, now what?

Hexalink: Rangers, meet my friends! (Balzac appear)

RedJupiter: You guys, get the Balzac! I'll take Hexalink and Galevan.

GridRanger: I'll help you Bryan.

RedJupiter: Fine. But the rest of you...

BlueNeptune: We know, "kick some Balzac."

(The Rangers comply with the orders given by the leader. Meanwhile, GridRanger fights Galevan with the GridBuckler and RedJupiter fights Hexalink with Jupiter Saber. The fights end stalemated.)

Hexalink: I have to admit, RedJupiter. You're not so bad with a sword in your hand. (draws his sword) I, on the other hand, have an ace in the hole.

YellowVenus: (running to Bryan's side after finishing the Balzac) I heard ace and hole in the same sentence and I just had to come here and help you.

Hexalink: Asking for help? You'll need it!

Galevan: Especially after... (starts growing) I didn't call for a Beta Blast! Hexalink: I don't understand you, Galevan. (while enlarging Galevan) Why should both of us have to suffer?

Galevan: Chouzo! Come in! This is urgent! Beta Blast both of us!

Chouzo: No problem, boss.

(The little midget blasts both Hexalink and Galevan, but due to a flaw in the Beta Blasting process caused by boosting one object that was already boosted, the viral beings spawn parts that merge and form a new Betamon, Hexalevan.)

Namrock: Where did that third warrior come from?

Rhexus: As long as he finishes the Rangers I don't really care.

Namrock: Point taken. (opens a DWC™ channel to Galevan and Hexalink) You two! Get back up here now!

Galevan: Why should we? We have the Rangers on the run!

Namrock: Do it.

Hexalink: I shall abide by your command, lord. If Galevan wants to fight, let him stay and die like those before him.

(back on Earth)

GreenMars: What's going on here?

GridRanger: I don't know, but it looks like someting I can take care of.

(Rangers take a formation.)

Rangers: GridTitan, download!

(Out of another Cyberspatial vortex comes the GridTitan. The Rangers hurry to the cockpit while the Hexalink monster repeatedly shoots at the giant tank.)

GridRanger: Hold onto your helmets, guys. He's not giving up that easily.

YellowVenus: Try the console controls.

GridRanger: Here we go. Option A, download!

(She presses the A button. Ripple beams fire out of the tank's main cannon, not only deflecting the Hexalink's fire, but adding some of the GridTitan's firepower at him.)

BlueNeptune: It's time for the finisher.

GridRanger: I agree. Upload Mode Two sequence!

(As Jill presses all four buttons, the GridTitan Tank transforms into the Mode Two GridTitan.)

Rangers: Mode Two GridTitan, ready!

(The robot fights with Hexalevan in a hand-to-hand brawl. It seems like the monster is dominating, when...)

RedJupiter: I've got an idea. Jill, can you use two options at once?

GridRanger: I don't know! I can try though. But the consequences may be severe.

(The monster prepare to finish the Rangers.)

No time to test it. Options A and C, download!

(The hand cannons fore off a rotary ripple beam as a result of the combined file access.)

AquaMercury: Guys, look! He may be strong, but his structural integrity is next to nothing!

BlueNeptune: Probably because of the flawed merger.

GridRanger: This is our big chance. Option D, download!

(The two swords form from his hands. He puts them together and form the Titan Lancer as the blades begin to glow. He twirls them over his head, much in the same fashion as the last battle, and lets the spinning Lancer fly. It splits the monster in half, uttlerly destroying him. The Lancer returns to the GridTitan, who can be seen posing to the setting sun. Now cut to the Satellite.)

Namrock: And now, Hexalink, let's get some ground rules straight. If you are going to fight under my control, you are going to listen to everything I say, no matter what you think. Or I'll make sure you are deleted for good this time.

Hexalink: Whatever you say, my lord.

Galevan: We all know that Hexalink won't comply with your orders.

Hexalink: Why Galevan, you don't give me enough credit! (offers hand) May the best warrior win?

Galevan: Don't worry. I will.

Namrock: Now what about these new programs you've been rambling about?

(Hexalink and Namrock walk off discussing the project that Hexalink has in store. About a month later, Scottie is working hard on his computer in the basement.)

Scottie: There... That should do it... Now for the final adjustments... and there!

(Scottie saves his work, then switches over to his ISP to send some e-mail.)

Subj: The project

It took a while, but I finally finished it! But it still needs a few finishing touches. Whatever you do, try and keep Bryan busy. I want it to be a surprise.

Scottie

(After that, Scottie went to the corner of the street, where he gets a message. Cut to Laura's house.)

Scottie: (over the Cyber Loader Com-Link) All right, Laura. I'm ready. Go ahead and upload it.

Laura: Uploading now.

(Above Scottie's head, a strange "alien" ship appears. Scottie pushes a few buttons on his Cyber Loader. Within a matter of moments, a blue light surrounds him. Like a subject of an alien abduction, Scottie is pulled aboard.)

Fin... for now...
