(This is the personal journal of Bryan Stone, leader of Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger, for July 26, 1998.
In an effort to keep a surprise away from me, the others took me to the local arcade to help me relax. Little did I know that Hexalink was planning a surprise for me, as well, in the form of a Betamon called Betagotch. The strange thing is, the virus was after Peter. I know why, too. After the discovery, Scottie and Laura introduced me to my surprise, a massive base of command called "The NetStation." We used the new ship to chase Betagotch, but when we found him, he decided to get a bit serious.)
(The scene: The Satellite. Hexalink and BetagotchiPet are obviously angered by the decision to pull the monster out of battle.)
Hexalink: Lord Namrock! What are you thinking! He had the GammaUsers and their new flying machine on the ropes!
Namrock: The only thing he had on the ropes was our hard drives!
Hexalink: What do you mean?
Namrock: When your monster merged, it took so much energy that it nearly wiped out all our files!
Hexalink: And you're blaming me?
Namrock: You created it. Therefore it is your responsibility.
Rhexus: That is correct, Hexie. I create the Betaviruses and take full responsibilities.
Hexalink: Then take responsibility for this one. And don't call me Hexie.
(Cut to the NetStation. The GammaRanger helmets are sitting on a stand, while the Rangers themselves begin an analysis of the situation.)
Amy: Something about this doesn't smell right. I mean, why would Namrock just pull out of a battle like this?
Bryan: Usually, when something like this happens, it's not our fault.
Eric: Huh? What do you mean?
Bryan: Remember what happens to the SkyStation after its energy drops to below 20 percent?
Laura: Yeah! The SkyStation returns to its file form in Cyberspace. But what does all this have to do with the BetagotchiPet?
Bryan: I'm guessing that Namrock has the same limitations that we do, theoretically.
Scottie: Which means we can defeat him on our own terms.
Bryan: Not exactly. This new monster isn't in file form. He might have more strength than we do.
Laura: (jokingly) Well, "It's not how much strength you have... It's how you use the strength you got!"
(Everybody laughs while she puts her arm around Scottie.)
Bryan: You know, Laura, you have a really good point there.
Laura: What do you mean?
Jill: I think I know. It's all a matter of how we plan our resources. All we need is something that is strong enough to beat this guy.
Bryan: Theoretically, we could beat him with every weapon in our arsenal, but we can't.
Jill: So, what you're saying is that we're stuck until we find something.
(Everyone looks worried and puzzled at the same time. Cut to the Satellite, where Hexalink is talking to Rhexus.)
Hexalink: You know what, Rhexus? I've been thinking about what you said back wiith Namrock. I have been a bit... well...
Rhexus: A bit of a bastard?
Hexalink: I wouldn't go that far.
Rhexus: Just what are you up to with this new Betamon, anyway?
Hexalink: Rhexus, you're the technical developer. Help me.
Rhexus: Oh, no! I'm not getting into this business with your monster. It's this kind of moronic stunt that got you deleted in the first place.
Hexalink: Can we forget about the past and focus on the present? OUR present! This can be made into a success.
Rhexus: What are you getting at?
Hexalink: The BetagotchiPet. Two mistakes in the making. Are you willing to make another?
(Enter Chouzo and the Balzac, who have altered the Beta Blaster to permit Hexalink's upgrades.)
Chouzo: What's going on? You think I can get any rest around here?
Rhexus: Don't rest just yet. (reluctantly) We are going to improve on BetagotchiPet.
Hexalink: That is correct.
Chouzo: Why do I have this feeling that I'm not going to like what you're going to do?
Hexalink: What's this "you" crap? We're a team now! (evil snicker)
(The Namrocks begin work on the upgrade for the monster. Involving a lot of silicon, a few fiberoptics, and a lot of memory later, the new monster is revealed.)
Betagotch: Wha... what happened?
Rhexus: You merged with your two monstrous counterparts and nearly crashed our memory chips with the energy overload. Now with this recycled form, you can have the stealth and strength of your merged form without sacrificing our own systems.
Chouzo: Yeah! If they die, so do we!
Hexalink: And so now, with your recycled form, you are under my control. In fact, if you so much as blink without my authorization, so help me I'll make you wish you were never formatted.
(The demons immediately get to work on a plan to reintegrate Betagotch's plan of attack in the park, which has the citizens of Tradewinds running. Cut to the NetStation.)
Jill: That was the Virus Alert! (turns on the screen) They just rereleased Betagotch!
Bryan: Great. How bad is he?
Eric: Not too good. He's stronger than ever! It's like his program was reformatted somehow!
Amy: At the risk of sounding trite, we've got to stop him. We'll use the ServerCycles.
Laura: Good idea. With Betagotch's newfound strength, we might need them!
Jill: Wait. How am I supposed to get to the battle?
Bryan: What do you mean?
Jill: Well, there are three ServerCycles for five people, bt there are now six of us!
Scottie: I'm glad you asked me that. Bryan, you mind if Amy and I stay above the action?
Bryan: Are you sure? We will need full strength on all fronts here.
Amy: Trust us. We have something new we'd like to try out. And since Jill mentioned wheels, we thought that it would be best to download it now.
Eric: We better let them. We need all the help we can get!
(In accordance to the leader of the GammaRanger, Amy inserts a minidisc into the NetStation's hard drive. Jill is standing by, patiently waiting for it to format.)
Jill: Amy, Scottie, you two go. I'll catch up when the file is formatted.
Scottie: All right, guys. (grabbing his helmet while everyone else grabs theirs) Let's lock and upload!
Bryan: Right! Remember, Jill. Stay here until that file is fully operational.
(The GammaRanger head down the transload pods to their ServerCycles.)
RedJupiter: RedJupiter, Server-1 ready!
(The Red ServerCycle becomes aerial.)
BlueNeptune: BlueNeptune!...
YellowVenus: ... YellowVenus!
Both: Server-2 ready!
(The Blue ServerCycle becomes aerial.)
GreenMars: GreenMars!...
AquaMercury: ... AquaMercury!
Both: Server-3 ready!
(The Green ServerCycle becomes aerial. The three motorcycles head to the park, where, once again, the Betagotch is playing dangerous games.)
Betagotch: I'm having so much fun here!
RedJupiter: (from out of nowhere) Sorry, but I'm pulling the plug on your little game!
Betagotch: I don't think so! Let's play!
(He materializes a few small flying creatures. The Rangers fight them off with their Ranger Blasters.)
YellowVenus: Go on! Get away! (shoots)
BlueNeptune: Well things couldn't get any worse.
(Balzac jump out of the Betagotch's screen.)
GreenMars: You were saying? Let's get them!
(The Rangers mount off their bikes and begin an attack with a surprising result.)
BlueNeptune: What the hell?
YellowVenus: What's going on?
GreenMars: I can't even phase them! Not even with direct hits!
RedJupiter: Wait, guys. Those Balzac aren't real. They're just phantoms created by the Betagotch's screen.
GreenMars: (gets beat by Balzac phantoms) Well, they sure FEEL real.
AquaMercury: Hold on! I got it!
(AquaMercury shoots the screen and two Balzac that have been surrounding her disappear.)
Since they're images from a screen, what better way to destroy the phantoms than to destroy the screen itself!
RedJupiter: So how do we do that?
(Just then, GridRanger rolls in on a new motorcycle, blasting full blasts from her cannon.)
GridRanger: Anyone need a lift?
RedJupiter: We might, Jill. So, this is it, huh?
GridRanger: Yeah, this is it. You guys better stand back. They don't call this bad boy the "DriverCycle" for nothing!
(GridRanger shoots a cannon blast at the monster's screen. Almost all of the Balzac phantom's disappear.)
Betagotch: GridRanger! You missed a few!
(Balzac begin to storm GridRanger. She tries to fight them off but is unsuccessful.)
GridRanger: You know, for phantoms, you're really beginning to bug me!
BlueNeptune: Wait. I just had a thought. If this is the DriverCycle, then it should have another form.
YellowVenus: How do you figure?
(Just then, the screen on the bike comes on with this message.)
Password: ******* |
(RedJupiter takes out his File Coin and inserts it into the slot at the base. The other GammaRanger follow suit. The bike begins to transform into a huge gun-like cannon.)
GreenMars: Heh heh! POWER!
AquaMercury: How do we use this?
RedJupiter: If I remember my training at the academy, we all have to push our own buttons at the same time. (Chime) The bike's charged! Let's lock and upload!
Rangers: Right! Driver Cannon fire!
(A massive laser fires out of the hull and into the screen. The Balzac phantoms disappear. Betagotch is severely damaged and remdered unstable.)
YellowVenus: What's going on?
AquaMercury: The anti-virus laser must have been so powerful, it managed to destroy his bonding chemistry!
(The monster splits into two. The Rangers call forth their S-Weapons to battle them. GotchiPet-1 and GotchiPet-2, as they are known, knock the Rangers out.)
BlueNeptune: That was harsh.
GreenMars: What about the Driver Cannon?
GridRanger: We can't use it more than once on a regular Betamon! Besides, if we could, we'd have to wait for it to charge again!
YellowVenus: By then it will be too late!
(Chouzo and some real Balzac arrives with the Beta Blaster.)
Chouzo: I'm afraid it's too late for it to be too late! Beta Blast'em!
(The two GotchiPets grow to the size of mountains.)
RedJupiter: You have to get to the GridTitan, Jill!
GridRanger: Way ahead of you! GridTitan, download!
(The GridTitan appears out of Cyberspace and lands on the ground in mode two. GridRanger locks in and begins to fight.)
RedJupiter: She'll need help! To the Station, GammaRanger!
(They rush to transload to the NetStation, which begins to fight the two GotchiPets, but to no avail.)
RedJupiter: Status report!
AquaMercury: We have some slight friction damage, but nothing serious yet.
YellowVenus: Wait a sec. I might have something. Bryan, enter this sequence for the NetDriver!
(He enters the sequence in his hard drive. Suddenly, the NetStation splits into five parts. The five parts then rearrange and form the mighty warrior NetDriver.)
