Last time, the GammaRanger found themselves in a good position as Bryan was reunited with his friend. This happiness was to be short-lived, however, as Eli was acting as a lure for one of Namrock's attacks. It turns out that Namrock was sucking out Eli's energy for a new, more powerful Betamon. In the battle, a Balzac snuck into the G-Project HQ and implanted a virus, taking away the powers of the five core Rangers. Now that the powers (with the exception of Jill's Grid power) are gone, how will the Rangers defeat Beta Satan?
(The scene: The G-Project Command Central. The Rangers are looking at the impending danger that is the Beta Satan. Jill makes a startling decision.)
Jill: I'll go.
Koike: You can't! You're just one person!
Jill: I am more than one person. I am the GridRanger.
Peter: Jill, there's something you have to hear. I've calculated the chances of victory in this fight and they are WELL against your favor.
Bryan: You've also known Jill for twenty-five years. She's a very level-headed woman and I trust her judgment. If she says she can fight this monster, then who are we to stop her?
Koike: (after thinkging for a while) Well, you haven't failed us before. Say the word, Bryan, and it's yours.
Bryan: Thank you, sir. Jill... (turns to Jill) It's all you.
Jill: Thank you, Bryan. I just hope I can do this by myself.
Laura: I know you can.
Jill: All right. I won't let you down, guys.
(Eric stands in a corner and interrupts.)
Eric: Hate to interrupt this "Full House" moment, but isn't there a giant Beelzebub that's coming this way?
Jill: Sorry, Eric. Almost got caught up in the moment, there. Time to lock and upload! (activates Grid Loader) Grid file, download!
(Jill transforms into GridRanger and prepares herself mentally to face the monster.)
GridRanger: (poses) GridRanger, ready! (turns to Rangers) Wish me luck, guys. DriverCycle down...
Scottie: That's a no-go, Jill. Computers are still out.
GridRanger: Oh. Forgot. Well, wish me luck, anyways. (runs out)
Amy: Slap'im like he owes you money!
(The Namrocks digiwindow onto the scene where Beta Satan makes his appearance.)
Rhexus: THis should be a good battle, don't you think, Chouzo?
Chouzo: Of course, Rhexus.
Namrock: Are you ready, Beta Satan?
Beta Satan: Ready to fulfill your legacy, my lord.
Namrock: Then fulfill.
(Meanwhile, GridRanger runs toward the scene of the battle, a barren filed some three miles outside the city.)
GridRanger: Man, that run took some energy out of me. All right, Beta Satan! Show yourself!
Beta Satan: (from nowhere) You ask and I shall respond!
(He responds, all right, with a flying kick to GridRanger's back.)
GridRanger: You...
Beta Satan: That's right, your worst nightmares all rolled into one! Are you ready to face me?
GridRanger: I'm not afraid of you!
Beta Satan: I don't want you to be afraid of me. Be afraid of this!
(He metamorphs into DaemonWater, a figure of Jill's controlled past.)
DaemonWater: Are you afraid yet?
GridRanger: Why should I? I beat my Daemon powers when I became the GridRanger, and I can beat them now!
DaemonWater: Let's see!
(DaemonWater and GridRanger fight seemingly to the death as the Waterpike and the GridBuckler clash many a time before the GridRanger is felled by her own pent-up rage. Beta Satan morphs back.)
Beta Satan: Just as I thought. All Users are alike, but I thought only the strong could be GammaRanger.
GridRanger: I AM strong! And I WILL beat you!
(GridRanger lunges at the monster as it fades out.)
Come on, Jill! You're not thinking! That's it!
(Beta Satan reappears in time for one powered slash.)
Beta Satan: What?! How?!
GridRanger: You're forgetting, Beta Satan! My nightmares are as much mine as they are yours! And like all of them, I can control them! (begins to wince)
Beta Satan: Even when it costs you your strength!
(The Rangers watch in the G-Project HQ as their friend, even though she has the upper hand, wince in probable defeat!)
Bryan: She's not gonna make it!
Peter: It's what I thought was going to happen.
Amy: What?
Peter: The GridRanger powers are becoming instable again.
Bryan: How long do you give her?
Peter: If it was another person, I'd easily say up to an hour, but Jill seems determined.
Eric: How does that change things?
Peter: The GammaRanger powers are strong, maybe, but it's the human condition that accounts for most of the power.
Sei: What you said about spirits just gave me an idea. (Walks toward the central computer)
(Back on the battle, Jill sits on the ground grasping her arm as she gets hit again by Beta Satan.)
Beta Satan: Are you still so sure that you can beat me as to continue!
GridRanger: I never give up!
(The Rangers watch the battle when something happens.)
Amy: So what do you think Sei is up to?
Scottie: We're about to find out.
(THen the computers began to flicker. Blips of sound and lights begin to scatter around the throughout the G-Project Command Central.)
Sei: (over the loudspaaker) Do not worry, guys. I am just cleansing the internal system to activate the GridTitan for Jill.
(The battlefield. Jill looks up to the sky to find her Driver, the GridTitan.)
GridRanger: All right! GridTitan!
Beta Satan: That is impossible!
GridRanger: Next time, you won't underestimate me!
(She jumps into the GridTitan tank as it transforms into Mode Two.)
GridRanger: GridTitan, ready! Fire Optical Lasers!
(The young warrior and her robot manage to fall the Beta Satan in two swipes of the Optical Lasers. Unfortunately, he is not altogether beaten. Also, unfortunately, Jill's powers begin to become instable.)
GridRanger: Oh, man! I'm weakening again! I bet this has to do with the GridRanger powers becoming instable. I have to do something.
(The GridRanger reverts her mecha to tank mode and goes back to the G-Project Hangar as she reports her condition. The computers continue to recover from the virus.)
Koike: The computers are coming back!
Bryan: Which means we can check up on Eli.
(A medical technician enters the Command Central.)
Technician: The computers are coming back in sick bay as well.
Bryan: And Eli?
Technician: (bowing her head) I'm sorry, Bryan, but since the computers were out, we couldn't get life support online. Eli... didn't make it. He died this morning.
Bryan: What?! How?! He can't!
(Bryan tries to rush into sick bay, but is stopped by his friends. Sei enters from the central computer. Jill enters from the hangar.)
Jill: What just happened?
Sei: I just reactivated the computers, but unfortunately, this virus has indirectly claimed Eli Namrock's life.
Bryan: Namrock.... I'm gonna get him for this.
Jill: Oh, man. Bryan must be hurting.
Koike: It gets worse. It looks as if the GridRanger might be next.
Jill: What do you mean by that?
Koike: Do you remember when we combined the GridRanger powers with those of the DaemonRanger to stabilize them?
Jill: Yeah, but what does that have to do with anything?
Koike: I've been tracking the progress of your powers ever since and it seems that the negative electron force of the DaemonRanger powers was beginning to weaken. They no longer act as a catalyst to the positron energy. In fact, they've been absorbing the energy and it's beginning to take its physical toll.
Jill: You mean, I'm losing my powers?
Koike: I'm sorry, Jill, but yes. Within a matter of time, your body will not be able to withstand the powers of the GridRanger.
Jill: Well, what do you suggest?
Bryan: One thing's for sure, you can't go back to fight the Beta Satan again.
Jill: Why not? I thought you were my friend, Bryan.
Bryan: I am. And that's why I'm telling you not to go through with this. If your powers go out in battle, then you could die!
Jill: (after thinking a while) I don't think I'm ready to die.
Eric: Good thinking, Jill. (gives her a hug)
Scottie: Maybe there's still a way.
Laura: Exactly what do you have in mind, sweetie?
Scottie: Well, dearie, if you sit down for a moment, maybe I can explain. But first I'll need all six Loaders. Pete, can you give me a hand here?
Bryan: (gives him his Cyber Loader) Okay, but I wish I knew why.
Scottie: Bryan... buddy! Have I failed you before?
(A pause for a while.)
Bryan: Good point.
(The five Rangers hand over their transformation Loaders. Meanwhile some three miles away, Beta Satan lies on the ground ready to die, except for one thing...)
Namrock: Get up!
Beta Satan: ... can't.... get... up...
Namrock: You fool! I thought you were more powerful than that!
Galevan: What about the Beta Booster?
Rhexus: Can't. It was destroyed with the Satellite.
Beta Satan: Now.... what....
Rhexus: I've got it! Everyone follow me!
(Rhexus goes and puts his hand on Beta Satan's energy center.)
Galevan: What are you doing?
Rhexus: Supplying energy to the Beta Satan. Care to help me?
Galevan: But of course!
(All of the Namrocks and Balzac put their hands above the energy center.)
Namrock: Now what?
Rhexus: Concentrate... Concentrate hard.
(All of the Namrock concentrate their energies on reviving the monster to full strengt. It gets so powerful, in fact, that Galevan, Chouzo, Rhexus, the Balzac, and Lord Namrock actually become part of the monster.)
New monster: Watch out world! HERE COMES BETA NAMROCK!
(The new monster begins to fly in the air as its final target becomes clear: GammaRanger Project Headquarters.)
The big question: How will this story end? Find out in part five of Betapocalypse Now, "Judgment Day, Another Day."
