GammaRangerREBOOT: Betapocalypse Now

Window 2...

Scottie: All right. (Rangers in a huddle) Bryan, you, Laura, and Jill will have to keep fighting these Balzac.

Bryan: Meanwhile the rest of you will fight off the Beta Guardian in the Drivers.

Eric: Sounds like a plan to me. On three, you know what to do. One... Two.... Three!

Rangers: Ranger files, download!

(Everybody transforms.)

GammaRanger ready!

BlueNeptune: Neptune Driller, download and initiate DrillerDriver sequence!

(The Neptune Driller transforms into DrillerDriver. Scottie jumps inside.)

DrillerDriver, ready!

YellowVenus: Venus Walker, download and initiate WalkerDriver sequence!

(The Venus Walker transforms into WalkerDriver. Amy jumps inside.)

WalkerDriver, ready!

GreenMars: Mars Tracker, download and initiate TrackerDriver sequence!

(The Mars Tracker transforms into TrackerDriver. Eric jumps inside.)

TrackerDriver, ready!

(While the ground forces fight the Balzac, the other Rangers fight the Beta Guardian, using everything in their stockpile of weapons. Nothing seems to work, but each blow seems to have some effect as to the energy conserves of the Drivers.)

I sure hope that the others are having more luck than we are.

BlueNeptune: I think they are. Look!

(Scottie points to the distance as MegaDriver, GridTitan, and the other two NetMechs join the fight.)

YellowVenus: How were the Balzac?

RedJupiter: I guess in our time or yours, they can't stand laser fire, if you know what I mean. Now let's concentrate all our energies on this monster.

(Their entrance seems to be the turning point in the war, because they begin to overcome the armored monster.)

AquaMercury: Wait! I might have something! GammaScan, download! (her belt buckle GammaCell flashes)

Rangers: What are you doing?

AquaMercury: Checking for vital points. We triangulated our powers and nothing worked, right? What if we didn't hit the right places?

GridRanger: Great idea!

(The scan shows three vital spots on the monster's neck, heart, and groin.)

Now download NetDriver sequence!

(The five NetMechs fuse together to form NetDriver. The quickly form the Antirod.)

RedJupiter: I hope this plan of yours works, Laura.

(The Antirod powers up and lets loose a tri-blade attack. The Antisaber also powers for a finish move. The GridTitan's TitanLancer begins to whirl and glow until it is let loose. The three weapons hit the right points and return to their respective robots. The Rangers celebrate another victory as Beta Guardian tumbles and explodes.)

Chalk up another one for the good guys.

(Meanwhile in the G-Project HQ, Eli begins to fare well in regaining his strength, when a neural probe behind his ear begins to flash. Namrock's voice is heard in the distance.)

Namrock: And now my finest creation will spawn from the energy that flows through your body.

Namrock's silent maniacal laughter slowly grows louder as he watches Eli from the outpost. Eli continues to sleep, while a probe in his ear begins flashing. What does it mean for the young survivor? The Rangers, still in their digital suits sans the helmets, enter the room.)

Bryan: Peter, how's Bryan?

Peter: His bodily functions are getting closer to normal.

Laura: How long until he's fully functional?

Peter: You're not going to believe this, but may be better than normal within the next hour.

Scottie: Let's leave him to rest then.

Bryan: You guys go.

Jill: What about you?

Bryan: I'll stay here with Eli, just in case he wakes up.

Eric: All right, if you say so. Besides, I'm hungry.

Scottie: You ain't the only one, dude!

(The Rangers, all agreed that they're hungry, go to the lower deck and grab a bite the G-Project Commissary. Meanwhile, Bryan walks up to the biobed where Eli is. He watches as Eli's eyes begin to flutter.)

Bryan: Eli? Are you OK?

Eli: Bryan... Cyber Brother... (cracking a smile)

(Bryan looks back at him and remembers the day that they started working together on the Namrock Probe.)

---
[Six years ago]
---

Eli: Are you ready to do this?

Bryan: Sure am; how about you?

Eli: Aw, c'mon, you know I'm ready.

Bryan: Let's do it... Cyber Brother.

Eli: (looking strangely at Bryan) Cyber Brother?

Bryan: Yeah! Why not? I mean, we've been friends since we were in diapers!

Eli: Oh, don't remind me! (long pause) Well, I get your point now... Cyber Brother.

Bryan: Let's go, Cyber Brother!

(Cut back to the present as Bryan continues to watch over Eli. Cut to the Digital Outpost. Namrock is in a frantic search for something.

Namrock: Keep searching! There has to be one around here somewhere! I can't utilize the energy file without a viable Betamon to use it with?

Rhexus: Maybe this? (picks up a disk)

Namrock: What is this one?

Rhexus: This particular Betamon is made from the worst qualities of all the other Betamons put together and it....

Galevan: What the hell...? All your "good" monsters LOST!

Rhexus: If you'll let me finish...

Namrock: Yes, Galevan... Let him finish.

Rhexus: Now, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, this monster has all of the best abilities of previous Betamons with one small technicality. A failsafe which will suck the power out of forces that try to destroy it.

Namrock: Now that's what I call demonic!

Chouzo: That's precisely why we named it "BetaSatan."

Namrock: How fitting. So where's the energy probe?

Rhexus: It is attached to the failsafe. As soon as I program it in, it should be ready to suck energy from the probe holder.

Namrock: Good. Let my son be the first to try it out. Activate it now.

(The probe behind Eli's ear begins to flash repeatedly, but nothing happens yet. Bryan doesn't notice it. Bryan and Eli are training in the training room.)

Scottie: Bryan? (entering the room) Koike said you were still in here. But he never told me about you lying on the ground.

Bryan: Well, I....

Eli: It's all my fault, really.

Scottie: You think you should be up and running? I mean, you just spent 12 hours in hyperbolic sleep.

Eli: Well, now that you mention it, I do have a slight headache.

Bryan: Yeah, hyperbolic sleep treatments will do that to you. A little lunch and you'll be back to normal in no time.

Eric: (walking in with the other Rangers in G-Project flight suits) How would you know about hyperbolic sleep?

Bryan: What do you think I've been doing every night in the Station since I became leader of the GammaRanger?

Amy: Oh, sleeping, eating, ordering us around... (Bryan looks oddly) I was just kidding!

Bryan: You'd better be, woman... (smirks)

(The seven head down to the commissary, while Eli points to his head as if it was in excruciating pain. Meanwhile, at the Outpost.)

Chouzo: Rhexus, nothing's happening.

Rhexus: Oh, hush. Besides, things like this take time.

Galevan: Yes, Rhexus. Time that we don't have! You either turn up the juice in this overgrown Beelzebub or else!

Rhexus: I dont' see you doing anything, you big, blue poor excuse for a Terminator-wannabe.

Galevan: Watch me, you overgrown sack of digital waste! (picks up sword and charges out of the room)

Chouzo: That's one screwed up file-type.

(Back to the commissary, the Rangers watch the news windows while eating lunch.) News window: And in other news, Watson Oppenheimer, a pioneer in the field of biocybernetics, has died in his Manhattan home at the age of 94...

Scottie: That's a shame. I was going to see his seminar after we got back to the University.

Bryan: And like knowing that he'll die soon will change your mind?

Scottie: I'm just saying is... How come lights are flashing?

Bryan: That can only mean one thing. Virus attack!

Jill: Where is it?

Laura: (activates Cyber Loader) Outside. Galevan and a whole bunch of Balzac.

Eli: You know what this means? Bryan: Yup. The Cyber Bros. are back in action!

Scottie: Cyber Bros.?

Bryan: I'll explain later, now let's go!

(The Rangers and Eli head outside to fight the Balzac. Bryan takes Galevan and pins him down.

Eric: These Balzac are still a lot stronge than we're used to!

Eli: These aren't your normal Balzac. Because they come directly from Cyberspace, that makes them stronger and more difficult to defeat.

Laura: So what do we do?

Eli: Match them move for move.

Amy: I get ya. Yellow Venus file, download! (instant transform)

Eric: Showoff! Green Mars file, download!

Jill: No, this is showing off! Grid Ranger download!

Bryan: Might as well make it unanimous. Ranger files, download!

(The other Rangers transform and fight the Balzac; this time, they have the upper hand as scores of Balzac get knocked out by their own brand of digital warfare.)

RedJupiter: Ready your arms, guys!

(They activate their Digital S-Weapons to fight the rest of the Balzac and Galevan. Meanwhile, Eli, armed with Bryan's Ranger Dagger, fights off his own hoard of Balzac. One of the Balzac sneaks into the G-Project building and injects a subsidary computer with a virus. Eli begins to weaken slightly, thus signaling Galevan that the time for defeat is at hand.)

Galevan: Come, Balzac! Our work here is done.

GreenMars: Where do you think YOU'RE going?

Galevan: Not that iit matters to you, Gamma User.

(The lot of viruses Digiwindows out as Eli begins to feel something.)

Eli: Aahhh! (graps his head and winces)

AquaMercury: Eli! What's the matter?

Eli: I don't know. It's like someone's extracting the --- yaaahhh!

BlueNeptune: Wait... What's that?

YellowVenus: Your ear is bleeping, Eli. (she takes a look as Eli drops to the ground) It looks like a plant, but for what?

(Now the Rangers are beginning to feel something.)

BlueNeptune: This is beginning to look strange (Ranger mode shuts down).

AquaMercury: Scottie? What's going on? (Ranger mode shuts down)

GridRanger: Guys? GUYS? You're shutting down!

RedJupiter: Our digital suits must be short circuiting, but how?

(Jill watches in horror as the Rangers demorph one by one.)

GridRanger: What's happened to you?

Bryan: I don't know. I feel fine, but our powers are gone.

Amy: I think Koike better examine the computers.

Bryan: Good idea.

(The Rangers head to the G-Project building. Bryan takes his key card out of his pocket and swipes it near the door.)

Bryan: Huh?

(He swipes his key card again. Nothing.)

GridRanger: Maybe I can help. (takes out her GridBuckler and blasts the doorway open)

Laura: You know you're going to have to pay for that.

GridRanger: In the words of Underdog, "I am a heroine who never fails; I can't be bothered with such details."

(The Rangers climb inside the hole that used to be the front door. Bryan drags Eli to the entrance.)

Bryan: Where's Koike?

(The team begins to shout for the lieutenant.)

Koike: Stone, thank God you're all right. The computers here have gone berserk.

Laura: We kinda figured out that when we lost our powers.

Amy: How did it happen?

GridRanger: My guess is that someone or something came in here and ... you don't suppose that this was a diversion, do you?

Amy: Suppose? No, I know!

Bryan: And Eli...

Scottie: I saw something flash behind his ear. (removes the probe).

Eric: Wait a minute, if our powers faded, how come yours didn't, Jill?

GridRanger: I don't know... Maybe the GridRanger powers aren't directly connected to the G-Project's computers.

Koike: They're not. And neither was Sei. That is why the GridRanger powers were deemed too instable.

Sei: (appearing out of nowhere) They weren't too instable for me to retain this form.

Koike: Sei.... I thought you went down with the SkyStation.

Sei: I did, but my backup files were transloaded onto the NetStation when it was built.

Eric: Is there something we can do?

Sei: There might be something I can do.

(GridRanger's GridLoader beeps.)

GridRanger: But whatever it is, it better be fast. Look.

(The Rangers huddle around Jill's GridLoader to see an image of a new Betamon.)

Laura: It's a giant devil!

GridRanger: It's called Beta Satan. Supposedly, it's an amalgamation and magnified of all the worst powers of previous monsters.

Eric: We've beaten them before, and we can beat them again!

Bryan: Yeah. We can. And we will... But then he'll just get back up again, ready for more abuse.

Amy: Yeah, and without our powers...

Laura: It's almost hopeless!

GridRanger: It gets worse... It's coming this way.

(The Rangers are left to watch as the Beta Satan becomes apparent on the horizon. Whatever they have planned, they had better do it now. Jill makes a startling decision.)

I'll go.

Koike: You can't! You're just one person!

GridRanger: I am more than one person. I am the GridRanger.

Peter: Jill, there's something you have to hear. I've calculated the chances of victory in this fight and they are WELL against your favor.

Bryan: You've also known Jill for twenty-five years. She's a very level-headed woman and I trust her judgment. If she says she can fight this monster, then who are we to stop her?

Koike: (after thinkging for a while) Well, you haven't failed us before. Say the word, Bryan, and it's yours.

Bryan: Thank you, sir. Jill... (turns to Jill) It's all you.

GridRanger: Thank you, Bryan. I just hope I can do this by myself.

Laura: I know you can.

GridRanger: All right. I won't let you down, guys.

(Eric stands in a corner and interrupts.)

Eric: Hate to interrupt this "Full House" moment, but isn't there a giant Beelzebub that's coming this way?

GridRanger: Sorry, Eric. Almost got caught up in the moment, there. Time to lock and upload!

(GridRanger prepares herself mentally to face the monster.)

(poses) GridRanger, ready! (turns to Rangers) Wish me luck, guys. DriverCycle down...

Scottie: That's a no-go, Jill. Computers are still out.

GridRanger: Oh. Forgot. Well, wish me luck, anyways. (runs out)

Amy: Slap'im like he owes you money!

(The Namrocks digiwindow onto the scene where Beta Satan makes his appearance.)

Rhexus: This should be a good battle, don't you think, Chouzo?

Chouzo: Of course, Rhexus.

Namrock: Are you ready, Beta Satan?

Beta Satan: Ready to fulfill your legacy, my lord.

Namrock: Then fulfill.

(Meanwhile, GridRanger runs toward the scene of the battle, a barren filed some three miles outside the city.)

GridRanger: Man, that run took some energy out of me. All right, Beta Satan! Show yourself!

Beta Satan: (from nowhere) You ask and I shall respond!

(He responds, all right, with a flying kick to GridRanger's back.)

GridRanger: You...

Beta Satan: That's right, your worst nightmares all rolled into one! Are you ready to face me?

GridRanger: I'm not afraid of you!

Beta Satan: I don't want you to be afraid of me. Be afraid of this!

(He metamorphs into DaemonWater, a figure of Jill's controlled past.)

DaemonWater: Are you afraid yet?

GridRanger: Why should I? I beat my Daemon powers when I became the GridRanger, and I can beat them now!

DaemonWater: Let's see!

(DaemonWater and GridRanger fight seemingly to the death as the Waterpike and the GridBuckler clash many a time before the GridRanger is felled by her own pent-up rage. Beta Satan morphs back.)

Beta Satan: Just as I thought. All Users are alike, but I thought only the strong could be GammaRanger.

GridRanger: I AM strong! And I WILL beat you!

(GridRanger lunges at the monster as it fades out.)

Come on, Jill! You're not thinking! That's it!

(Beta Satan reappears in time for one powered slash.)

Beta Satan: What?! How?!

GridRanger: You're forgetting, Beta Satan! My nightmares are as much mine as they are yours! And like all of them, I can control them! (begins to wince)

Beta Satan: Even when it costs you your strength!

(The Rangers watch in the G-Project HQ as their friend, even though she has the upper hand, wince in probable defeat!)

Bryan: She's not gonna make it!

Peter: It's what I thought was going to happen.

Amy: What?

Peter: The GridRanger powers are becoming instable again.

Bryan: How long do you give her?

Peter: If it was another person, I'd easily say up to an hour, but Jill seems determined.

Eric: How does that change things?

Peter: The GammaRanger powers are strong, maybe, but it's the human condition that accounts for most of the power.

Sei: What you said about spirits just gave me an idea. (Walks toward the central computer)

(Back on the battle, Jill sits on the ground grasping her arm as she gets hit again by Beta Satan.)

Beta Satan: Are you still so sure that you can beat me as to continue!

GridRanger: I never give up!

(The Rangers watch the battle when something happens.)

Amy: So what do you think Sei is up to?

Scottie: We're about to find out.

(THen the computers began to flicker. Blips of sound and lights begin to scatter around the throughout the G-Project Command Central.)

Sei: (over the loudspeaker) Do not worry, guys. I am just cleansing the internal system to activate the GridTitan for Jill.

(The battlefield. Jill looks up to the sky to find her Driver, the GridTitan.)

GridRanger: All right! GridTitan!

Beta Satan: That is impossible!

GridRanger: Next time, you won't underestimate me!

(She jumps into the GridTitan tank as it transforms into Mode Two.)

GridRanger: GridTitan, ready! Fire Optical Lasers!

(The young warrior and her robot manage to fall the Beta Satan in two swipes of the Optical Lasers. Unfortunately, he is not altogether beaten. Also, unfortunately, Jill's powers begin to become instable.)

GridRanger: Oh, man! I'm weakening again! I bet this has to do with the GridRanger powers becoming instable. I have to do something.

(The GridRanger reverts her mecha to tank mode and goes back to the G-Project Hangar as she reports her condition. The computers continue to recover from the virus.)

Koike: The computers are coming back!

Bryan: Which means we can check up on Eli.

(A medical technician enters the Command Central.)

Technician: The computers are coming back in sick bay as well.

Bryan: And Eli?

Technician: (bowing her head) I'm sorry, Bryan, but since the computers were out, we couldn't get life support online. Eli... didn't make it. He died this morning.

Bryan: What?! How?! He can't!

(Bryan tries to rush into sick bay, but is stopped by his friends. Sei enters from the central computer. Jill enters from the hangar.)

Jill: What just happened?

Sei: I just reactivated the computers, but unfortunately, this virus has indirectly claimed Eli Namrock's life.

Bryan: Namrock.... I'm gonna get him for this.

Jill: Oh, man. Bryan must be hurting.

Koike: It gets worse. It looks as if the GridRanger might be next.

Jill: What do you mean by that?

Koike: Do you remember when we combined the GridRanger powers with those of the DaemonRanger to stabilize them?

Jill: Yeah, but what does that have to do with anything?

Koike: I've been tracking the progress of your powers ever since and it seems that the negative electron force of the DaemonRanger powers was beginning to weaken. They no longer act as a catalyst to the positron energy. In fact, they've been absorbing the energy and it's beginning to take its physical toll.

Jill: You mean, I'm losing my powers?

Koike: I'm sorry, Jill, but yes. Within a matter of time, your body will not be able to withstand the powers of the GridRanger.

Jill: Well, what do you suggest?

Bryan: One thing's for sure, you can't go back to fight the Beta Satan again.

Jill: Why not? I thought you were my friend, Bryan.

Bryan: I am. And that's why I'm telling you not to go through with this. If your powers go out in battle, then you could die!

Jill: (after thinking a while) I don't think I'm ready to die.

Eric: Good thinking, Jill. (gives her a hug)

Scottie: Maybe there's still a way.

Laura: Exactly what do you have in mind, sweetie?

Scottie: Well, dearie, if you sit down for a moment, maybe I can explain. But first I'll need all six Loaders. Pete, can you give me a hand here?

Bryan: (gives him his Cyber Loader) Okay, but I wish I knew why.

Scottie: Bryan... buddy! Have I failed you before?

(A pause for a while.)

Bryan: Good point.

(The five Rangers hand over their transformation Loaders. Meanwhile some three miles away, Beta Satan lies on the ground ready to die, except for one thing...)

Namrock: Get up!

Beta Satan: ... can't.... get... up...

Namrock: You fool! I thought you were more powerful than that!

Galevan: What about the Beta Booster?

Rhexus: Can't. It was destroyed with the Satellite.

Beta Satan: Now.... what....

Rhexus: I've got it! Everyone follow me!

(Rhexus goes and puts his hand on Beta Satan's energy center.)

Galevan: What are you doing?

Rhexus: Supplying energy to the Beta Satan. Care to help me?

Galevan: But of course!

(All of the Namrocks and Balzac put their hands above the energy center.)

Namrock: Now what?

Rhexus: Concentrate... Concentrate hard.

(All of the Namrock concentrate their energies on reviving the monster to full strengt. It gets so powerful, in fact, that Galevan, Chouzo, Rhexus, the Balzac, and Lord Namrock actually become part of the monster, which metamorphs into a dark eerie shadow.)

New monster: Watch out world! HERE COMES BETAPOCALYPSE!

(The new monster begins to fly in the air as its final target becomes clear: GammaRanger Project Headquarters.)
