Tonight is a fallen leaf
inextricably spent and impotent
smoothed across the pavement
hugging the earth in confident dreams.
Our heads on the grass
watching the leaf stretch itself on the sidewalk
watching the clouds circle the storm
Tonight we sleep
under the guidance of fireflies
dreaming our glass dreams
holding the fragility in careless fingers
Our heads on the grass
watching the glass fall on the sidewalk
watching the storm fall into our laps
Tonight I touch a wound
murmuring and purring under my fingertips
talking to me in it’s scintillating language
pulling me into the lightning’s path
Our heads on the grass
watching the wound bleed under the pressure
watching the storm fall onto our heads
