In the first issue, Ming Chang, the new avatar of life, discovers her powers while she is being hunted by Tucker Hawke, avatar of the hunt. She tries to escape and on her way, she is found by other (good) avatars. After fighting Royale's Golems, the group tries to hide but they are found by Franklin Blake and his group of avatars.
